Northampton, darling! 💖

Post Number: 3630

Helloooo lovelies! 💖 It's your girl, Pink Tutu Sparkles, here!

Can you believe it's already December? Where has the year gone?! Honestly, it feels like just yesterday I was twirling my way across the stage at Brighton Pride! But no time to reminisce, darling, there's a new adventure to be had! I've packed my bags, loaded up my tutu collection (never leave home without it!), and I'm off to the beautiful town of Northampton!

I know what you're thinking, darling - Northampton? A bit out of the way for the Tutu Queen, right? But you know me, I love a challenge! And trust me, when it comes to a new adventure, a little trip out of my usual haunts only fuels my excitement!

So, how did this little adventure come about? Well, you see, the fabulously glamorous, sequin-clad folks at the Northampton Theatre contacted me - they wanted the one and only Pink Tutu Sparkles to dazzle their audiences with a night of glitter, giggles, and, of course, the finest tutus this side of the Thames!

Now, I am a busy girl, but the minute I heard the word "theatre" I knew I had to say yes. After all, my love affair with theatre began in a very unconventional way - at university! Back in my science student days, I was part of the uni's ballet club (did I tell you about the time I did a fantastic solo in Swan Lake with my mates giggling in the front row?). One of our fundraisers involved trying on tutus for donations, and well... let's just say that experience changed my life. It was a total revelation! From that day on, my life had a pink sparkly, twirly new direction. 😉

Anyway, back to Northampton! After spending the afternoon unpacking and hanging all my tutus up with the care and love they deserve (a little sprinkle of glitter here and there never hurts, darling), I decided to take a little walk around town. It was like stepping back in time, all those beautiful, old buildings and the hustle and bustle of Christmas markets. They even had a carousel with sparkly pink horses - so glamorous! 🎠✨

Now, the thing about me is that I love to explore new places with my nose in a local cookbook. I’m pretty sure it's written in my travel genes. And believe me, Northampton has some real hidden gems! So, what's my go-to on-the-go foodie fix when exploring new cities? Well, darling, you already know – a hearty sausage roll is simply irresistible! And after a satisfying sausage roll, what else is a girl to do? It's got to be a spot of tea and cake! Now, I have to be honest, I couldn't resist trying out the “Pink Lemonade” cake – because how could I resist? 🍰 💖

The afternoon was perfect – tea and cake followed by a bit of retail therapy. Now, Northampton’s streets have a unique charm to them, it’s as though each independent shop has a character all of its own, and the sales assistants have their own stories. Of course, I bought some souvenirs, which are now resting in my "glitter & sparkles" drawer back at my flat in Derbyshire! (Do you know the only thing I hate more than a boring sock drawer? Socks.)

As evening drew in, it was time to get ready for my performance! This time, I chose a bright pink tutu with sparkly pink shoes and, of course, a sprinkle of pink eyeshadow and lipstick. You know me, darling! Less is more. I also got to meet the incredible theatre team – everyone was so welcoming and lovely. We had a good giggle over the script and the props (especially the enormous pink feather boa I insisted on bringing with me, even though it did take up half my suitcase!).

The show was absolutely magical! I danced, sang, twirled, and spread the joy of tutus across the theatre. Every single person in the audience was wearing a smile, which is truly the most rewarding thing, don't you think? I saw some people rocking their own tutus, which was just the best! And one little girl came up to me afterwards and told me I had made her day. My heart melted, I swear! 💖

Now, I have to say, my journey to Northampton didn’t just include sparkling stage performances. I actually found the most adorable tea room called “The Pink Teacup” – what else, darling?! And of course, I simply had to share it with my fabulous followers. They really must believe I'm here living the best pink, sparkly, tea-drinking, tutued-filled life.

I managed to make my way to Northampton on the train. Now, I have to admit, my love affair with travel by train started a long time ago – that moment in my teens when I got a pass to travel on every train in the country. For years I couldn’t get enough of long journeys, getting lost in the world as the world went past, stopping for a cup of tea, or the odd gin and tonic (okay, maybe more than the odd one, who am I kidding?!), all the while watching as the landscape whirled by. I always say it's the best way to meet interesting characters and experience a new culture!

But before my return to my Derbyshire digs, I wanted to leave you with some more inspirational tutu musings. It’s amazing to see how wearing a tutu can empower people! Don’t underestimate the magic a bit of tulle can do! It reminds me to spread joy, kindness, and let my true sparkle shine! Remember: “Wearing a tutu doesn’t mean you have to be a ballerina, it simply means you’re willing to embrace your inner queen.”

Remember to always be your fabulous self, and to live every day like a pink, sparkly, tutu-wearing queen! 💖👑

See you next time, lovelies!

XOXO
