Harrow: Post 3643 – The Sparkly Train to Ballet Bliss!

Oh, darling! You won't believe where Pink Tutu Sparkles is today! Yes, I, your fabulous fuchsia-loving queen, have sashayed my way to Harrow, a lovely little town with more history than you can shake a feather boa at! I came for the Ballet show, naturally, and this time, the travel was almost as exciting as the performance!

Now, as you all know, I'm a girl who likes her options – my tutus, my glitter, my dance moves, and that includes travel! And while a shimmering chariot would be absolutely delightful (have you seen the carriage from Cinderella? Pure goals), let's be real, there's a certain charm to a journey on a vintage train, wouldn't you say?

This trip, I chose the slow lane (I always choose the slow lane when it comes to arriving somewhere looking glamorous, my darlings!), and climbed aboard the train from Derbyshire to the capital. A proper old-fashioned steam train, with that magical chuffing sound, billowing smoke, and a view that was practically painted by Monet. Imagine me, darling, sitting on a plush seat, gazing at the scenery, looking simply smashing in a blush pink skirt, a silky rose-gold top, and a fetching raspberry feather fascinator perched atop my perfect curls – quite the elegant ensemble, if I do say so myself!

We travelled at a delightful amble, so there was ample opportunity to enjoy my own little travelling beauty routine, wouldn't you say? My portable makeup bag (all sparkly silver, naturally) was deployed! My little "on-the-go" tutu – a shimmery lavender masterpiece I just had to try out for my blog (imagine, the photo op!) – made an appearance. I popped on a podcast of my favourite choreographer’s insights into “Swan Lake”, which you know I adore! Even though my little chihuahua-me, Miss Gigi, who has always wanted to go on a train journey, was forced to stay at home (a good decision – she’d probably have devoured the little bag of marshmallows I packed in my handbag, silly girl!). All in all, it was a rather pleasant commute!

But hold on to your tiaras, darling! As wonderful as my train trip was, I didn’t just come here for the train ride! Harrow had something even more captivating: The Harrow Ballet. This historic company has been a landmark in the arts scene since the dawn of time (or, well, the Victorian era). Imagine: the graceful elegance of ballerinas twirling across the stage, the passion in their steps, the way their tutus seem to take flight as they dance.

This evening's show featured a collection of modern and classic ballets, and oh my dearest they were exquisite! From the coup de théâtre of “La Sylphide” – with all those heavenly leaps and pirouettes!– to the dramatic intensity of a modern ballet about a woman in a Parisian cafe. And who could resist that "Sleeping Beauty" performance with its iconic Sleeping Beauty's pink tutu? So graceful, so delicate.

Afterward, I got to meet one of the dancers! It’s incredible how the human body can be sculpted into those graceful poses! The most fascinating thing is, she had such lovely skin and that really soft, smooth, flawless look… It actually gave me an idea! Maybe I’ll give you all a little DIY skincare tips and tricks on how to look that radiant from my next post!

Of course, I just had to pick up a memento for my own personal “Tutu Trophies” shelf at home. What else could I buy than a brand-new pink tutu, in a gloriously sparkling shade? (I’m tempted to wear it out and about in town… Who’s with me?! Join my #pinktututrip!)

All in all, Harrow turned out to be an absolute delight – a fabulous blend of history, artistry, and, naturally, a splash of pink tutu fabulousness.

Stay tuned for more fabulous adventures coming soon! Keep those smiles sparkling!

XOXO

PS I may or may not be sporting a pink feather boa and a top hat on my way home, all courtesy of the fabulous “Sparkle Stop” on the high street – just a tiny detour from my journey home, darling! You can never have too much sparkle in your life, can you?
