Pink Tutu Sparkles in Hammersmith - Post #3667

Oh darlings, what a day! Iā€™m writing this from my plush hotel room in Hammersmith, just a sprinkle of glitter away from the dazzling stage where Iā€™ll be dazzling those Hammersmith locals later tonight.

My train journey down from Derbyshire was pure bliss, I always feel like Iā€™m stepping into a fairytale when I travel by train, especially when youā€™re dressed in pink. This time I was in my absolute favourite travel ensemble: a bubblegum pink sequined pencil skirt with a floaty chiffon top, teamed with - you guessed it - my gorgeous baby pink tulle tutu that I absolutely adore. Donā€™t you think itā€™s just the perfect travel look?

It felt like I was gliding on a cloud as the carriage carried me onwards, towards a new city, a new audience and new adventures, and trust me when I tell you darling, I adore a good adventure, especially when I can do it with a little sprinkle of glitter, or perhaps a full-blown shimmer. I know what youā€™re thinking, Pink Tutu Sparkles, isnā€™t this rather a lot of pink for just a train journey? And my answer to that is a resounding yes darling, itā€™s definitely all about the pink. The brighter the pink, the bigger the sparkle, and the better the journey. After all, how else can you be prepared to tackle those everyday challenges, those tricky commutes and the neverending task of brightening the day for others, all whilst living your best life?

Before I jetted off from my little cottage back in Derbyshire, I had a wonderful day indulging in a spot of retail therapy. You know the kind, darling, where you start out with a purpose but soon realise you just canā€™t resist a little something special for your fabulous self. Oh, I am the queen of ā€œa little something special,ā€ a self-proclaimed queen of finding the perfect outfits and Iā€™m certainly never one to turn down a spot of retail therapy. You might have heard of a queen's favourite pastime ā€“ well let me tell you, itā€™s far more tempting than indulging in tea and cucumber sandwiches ā€“ Itā€™s finding the right pink and finding the most fabulous pieces of fabric! I tell you darling, sometimes I find it a real struggle to drag myself away from the rails in the shops.

For tonightā€™s performance, I found the most glorious silver sequin jumpsuit with - of course - a splash of pink on the collar. It sparkles just right. To give you a little heads-up, it's definitely a performance that will leave you speechless! (Well, speechless after youā€™ve gasped in amazement, obviously.) My new jumpsuit will go beautifully with my silver glitter high heels, it's like theyā€™re made to twirl in. Oh my darling, I canā€™t wait to get those dancing shoes onto that Hammersmith stage tonight! And trust me, darling, when Iā€™m on that stage youā€™ll see all sorts of twirling.

A word from my inner scientistā€¦ did you know that most sequins are made from polyamide or polyester fabric? Did you also know that both those fabrics have a specific melting point? Itā€™s just amazing that you can make things look so sparkly, donā€™t you think? Now, darling, this is going to get technical for a minute: I know that because as well as my love of sequins and dancing in tutus I also have a day job. You could say I live a double life - the science queen and the sequin-loving fairy! During the day I work as a fabric chemist in a lab, which involves me analysing the fibres in clothing using different kinds of laboratory equipment. And itā€™s certainly a far cry from sequins, glitz and glam! I mean who needs an atomic absorption spectrophotometer when you have your trusty feather boa!

This dual-life situation isnā€™t easy for a girl to manage, believe me, but I tell you what, the hard work always pays off. When I go out there, I put my whole heart and soul into the performance ā€“ itā€™s why I wear these fantastic, beautiful pink tutus. For those who may not know, the Pink Tutu movement is more than just pink outfits and flamboyant performances ā€“ itā€™s a force for good. My passion is getting as many people as possible to wear pink tutus because not only is it a dazzling experience, it encourages people to look inside themselves to find their own pink tutu, you know? The part of themselves that is sparkling and beautiful!

Tonight's show, I believe, will be one to remember. It is an exclusive "Ballet Ballet Ballet" themed show in honour of my absolute favourite choreographer ā€“ a man of impeccable taste. I just knew, after discovering his extraordinary life, that I had to wear his creations. Yes, darlings, my latest project is creating costumes for a ballet class, which means it is off to a vintage shop this weekend for a pink dress and feather boas galore, a project which has really helped me get in the mood to embrace my own inner Pink Tutu queen. If anyone knows where to get a fabulous pair of dancing shoes that glitter I'd love to know, but most importantly ā€“ stay tuned darling, stay tuned.

Just before I end this post, I just wanted to quickly mention how the Hammersmith locals have given me the warmest welcome, as always. Itā€™s like walking into a huge, welcoming family, so warm and generous with a sense of humour that makes me blush even in my sparkly silver sequined jumpsuit. Oh, it's always an honour and a joy to bring a little glitter into peopleā€™s lives. If thereā€™s one thing you can take from this little post itā€™s that embracing pink isnā€™t just for the faint of heart; itā€™s about having fun, taking life as it comes, spreading sparkles and letting your true colours shine!

Oh, but now darling I need to dash and get ready to dance the night away. But just before I do, let me tell you I am in LOVE with a new ballet class ā€“ "ballet street" it's such fun and the dancing steps are quite fabulous, you should all give it a try, and if you do remember to wear pink, it always makes the routine sparkle! And my biggest ambition for you, my dear darlings is to put a Pink Tutu on everyone and, why not? It just adds such a bit of sparkle! See you all later, and be sure to look out for some behind-the-scenes photos and video snaps on www.pink-tutu.com tomorrow! Catch you on the other side!

Xoxo
