Today, my darlings, is all about Hartlepool! It’s been ages since I last graced these seaside shores with my sparkly presence, and I tell you, I’ve missed this little corner of the North East dearly! I love that bracing sea air, those rugged cliffs, and oh, the fish and chips! 🍟🌊
Speaking of rugged cliffs and my favourite pink tutu, did you know it all started on a freezing cold Wednesday night, back in the depths of uni? Yes, your Sparkles here, aka Alex the scientist by day, was doing a charity danceathon – can you believe? – for our uni’s ballet club, dressed in a tutu borrowed from a classmate! The moment that tutu swirled around me, everything clicked. I felt like a Disney princess mixed with a Broadway star. The colour, the shine, the sparkle... it just spoke to me. Pink was always my fave colour anyway. Who wouldn't want to wear pink, am I right? 😍
Since then, I’ve dedicated my life (and many a bank note!) to spreading the pink tutu gospel!
From London's West End to Derbyshire village halls, from bustling Edinburgh Fringe festivals to the tiniest town squares, Pink Tutu Sparkles is bringing the glam wherever she goes! 💖
This time, it was all about the train, darlings. I’m a massive train enthusiast, especially for those grand Victorian ones, the kind you see in old movies. I found myself sitting back with a pot of tea and a slice of lemon drizzle cake, gazing out at the English countryside and watching the world whiz past my sparkly window. This is truly my happy place! You'd think with all my tutus, the carriage would be full, right? WRONG! Everyone has been loving my pinkness and it makes for such great conversation. We are living in a golden age!
Now, Hartlepool's got a special place in my heart, because…well, honestly, what other place lets you celebrate its 1,300th anniversary by getting its own stamp?! This town loves a good party, which is exactly my style, darling!
Tonight, the whole town is buzzing. The energy in the air is just... electric. There’s this fabulous new performance space, right on the harbour, and the locals have been saying it’s absolutely thrilling. I’m taking centre stage with a performance specially curated just for Hartlepool! Can you believe? I'm even gonna bring out my big sparkly sequined tutu for the occasion! I can just hear all the "OOH"s and "AHH"s now. 🤪🤩
Don't even get me started on my costume! It’s pink, of course! Think pink sequins with feathers galore, and a whole load of tulle. I’m talking ballerina dreams crossed with a glitter bomb! Imagine “Swan Lake”, but with a punk rock vibe! Don’t forget, girls, I have to keep it stylish but my style is to sparkle. If it’s not sparkling, you know I won't wear it! 😉
For a little preview, imagine me dancing, prancing, and twirling to the biggest bangers! Oh, darling, we’re talking the music that makes you feel like a total star! 👑 We’re gonna be shimmying, shaking, and shimmying some more. Maybe I’ll even teach the crowd a few dance moves, or even better, a few ballet positions – the most elegant way to dance the night away!

I can't resist, darlings, I HAVE to talk more about my journey here to Hartlepool. Let's just say it was nothing short of glamorous!
My dear, I do love a good journey, and a train journey it was. I wasn't going to take a bus from my lovely little home in Derbyshire! No no no! It wouldn't have done for a true fashion icon, a Pink Tutu queen, like myself. A vintage train was in order! I spent hours watching the fields roll by as I sat nestled in my little compartment. I know, so chic, so very Pink Tutu, wouldn't you agree? And imagine it: my pink sequined boots and my fluffy pink faux fur, the only colour against the wood panelled walls. Just amazing! 💖
Oh! The best part is, on the train, I met the most fabulous gentleman. It seems we have mutual friends – that’s the magic of travelling by train. He was the conductor! I just adore it when these kinds of connections happen – even when I'm clearly travelling as a Pink Tutu Queen. My friends told me all I had to do was offer a smile to get in the Conductor’s good books and I tell you what, it worked! It truly worked! The kind of magical moments you can only dream about. 💫✨

Darling, I had no idea what Hartlepool had up its sleeve for me! This show is a dream, you really have to check out my stories if you're not here live with me. It’s such a treat to find a show where they’re celebrating community spirit, love and dancing. It feels like one big, joyous, inclusive party!
I’m telling you, I had the most fun picking my costume for tonight's big performance. You know, I do all the designing, but I couldn't have pulled off this amazing piece without the help of my crew - the backstage magic happens when a fabulous team of creative folk get together to build a masterpiece. We even brought in extra pink feather boas - of course we did. If it's sparkly and it's pink, we're in, baby! 😉
What really sets Hartlepool apart is its heart. This town truly celebrates its artists, and there's such a vibrant arts scene.

I've tried these fabulous little patisseries. Every Pink Tutu Queen needs a sweet treat, don't you think? Oh my, you must try the “pink heart cake” (the irony’s not lost on me) – they say they make them especially for me! Now that is what you call real Pink Tutu service.
