Neath: A Tutu-tastic Adventure! 💖✨

Hello my gorgeous darlings! It's your favourite Pink Tutu Sparkles, here with you on post number 3750! Get ready to dive into a rainbow of fun because today's blog is bursting with glitter and… well… a whole lot of pink! 💋

You know how much I love exploring the UK, and this time I packed my bags and set off on a whistle-stop adventure to the charming town of Neath in Wales. Now, this was a truly special trip, not only because I got to experience a new part of the country, but also because my adventure took me back to my very first foray into the world of tutus – I'm talking ballet class, ladies! 🩰

As you know, I’m a huge fan of the graceful elegance of ballet. It's like a kaleidoscope of emotions set to music. And here in Neath, I discovered the most adorable little ballet studio nestled amongst the cobblestone streets. Let's just say, a few twirls later, my inner ballerina was blossoming! 💖

Now, I’m all about sharing the tutu-ific joy with the world. So naturally, I had to find a little shop selling the most amazing tutu creations – perfect for a little dance party, don’t you think? 💃

After my ballet escapade, Neath welcomed me with open arms! I found myself wandering down charming, cobbled streets lined with quaint, old shops and welcoming pubs. The people of Neath were a delightful surprise. Their smiles were as warm as the afternoon sun, and they were thrilled to see this Pink Tutu Sparkles strutting through town! 😄

This week’s travel blog is packed with pretty pink fashion, delightful ballet tales and some fab photos that I took around Neath.

So, grab your favourite pink lipstick, your most sparkly outfit (you know, the one you think makes you feel like you could dance the world away!) and let’s begin our journey… 💋

A tutu-tiful history: From lab coat to the stage

Now, you’ve heard about my ballet obsession. It’s so deep and meaningful that it actually took me from my science degree to the world of fabulous drag! 🧪 You might be wondering, “Alex, how did a science geek like you fall into the magical world of drag?”

Well, the answer’s simple: love! And, I’m not talking about a heart-throb. I’m talking about love at first twirl! 💖

My heart truly melted the first time I put on a tutu. It was for a university charity event, a dress-up dance competition to raise money. Back then I was just Alex, your ordinary science student (okay, not so ordinary, as I already knew a good pink was the way to go).

Then, there I was – all tucked up in a shimmering pink tutu. I wasn't quite sure what came over me, but suddenly all the stress and pressure of the lab just… evaporated. I felt like a totally different person. The stage felt like a big, bright and sparkly play area where I was free to express myself.

So, yeah… That was my big “Aha!” moment. From that day on, my drag queen alter ego Pink Tutu Sparkles began to shine. And guess what? I couldn’t imagine a more delightful life! I spend my days with lab coats, microscopes, and beakers. Then by night I get to transform, unleash my true inner sparkle and bring the party to life with the magical tutus I love so much. ✨

Neath: The jewel of Wales

Now, let’s get back to our fabulous adventure in Neath. What a beautiful place to explore! Neath’s history dates back to Roman times, with ruins that whisper tales of forgotten civilizations. This enchanting town truly captivates your senses with its unique blend of ancient charm and contemporary character. 💖

Just take a look at this gorgeous building…

… Don't you agree, it's totally stunning? I had to find a little time to get a few fabulous snaps for the gram! 💖

And then, there’s Neath’s majestic abbey. This truly grand place has a rich and complex history dating back to 1110. As I walked past its magnificent gothic arches, I imagined the tales that these stones could tell!

You have to imagine my tutu skirt getting blown about by the gentle wind – a magical moment I just had to document! 🌪️

Now, for a delicious treat, I recommend indulging in some freshly baked goods from one of the charming cafes dotted around Neath. Let's just say, I wouldn't want you to miss the most scrumptious little pastries. Oh, and the warm chocolate milk! Oh. My. Goodness. The best way to get your sweet tooth tingling. 😋

The Tutu’s Travel Tale

It wouldn't be a proper TutuQueen blog without my travel tips and tales. After all, you want to experience everything that makes life glamorous and exciting! Here’s how you can enjoy your own dazzling travel experience around this lovely place. 💖

Transport: Trains and Horses, oh my!

If you are planning a trip to Neath, be sure to arrive in style. I love arriving at destinations by train. That way I can enjoy the scenery and look for that special something that’s perfect for my Pink Tutu Sparkles ensemble! ✨

This time, I found a most charming little railway station in Neath – it looked so chic with its vibrant colours! (Picture here – picture of a colourful train station) I was all set to capture the magic in my latest vlog but it was so darn pretty that I ended up getting distracted with trying on outfits in front of it instead. 🤣

Now, don't think I forgot about our lovely horses. The good folk of Neath had some wonderful equine delights to showcase in the town’s central square. And I have to say… you would not believe how many heads turned as I came striding down the cobbles! 😉

My secret travel weapon to make travelling in the country much more enjoyable… (and super glam!): the perfect picnic hamper. And, let's just say this was not just any ordinary hamper! It was an exquisitely-chosen basket with sparkling vintage tableware, perfectly cut sandwiches (made with cucumber!), pink iced cookies (that were super fun to snap pictures of!), and even a vintage, crystal goblet! You see, even for a humble picnic you have to dress up. And I, Pink Tutu Sparkles, simply won't do anything that isn't pink, pretty, and a little fabulous. 💖

Neath Nights

You know I adore exploring cities at night, when they truly transform and the twinkle of fairy lights become the focus. So, here are my top picks for a fun evening in Neath! ✨

  • Dinner and a Show: Grab your best friend, grab a glass of something fizzy and head over to a charming pub with a live music night. My advice, be bold! A few cheers will make for the most fun atmosphere! Cheers, that’s the sound I love to hear most. (picture of Pink Tutu Sparkles having a glass of wine with friends, and a stage)

  • Disco nights: Every town needs a great place to let your hair down and just boogie until dawn! Check out the local nightspots, they usually know how to make the lights shimmer and the party atmosphere really go wild. 🎶 (Picture of Pink Tutu Sparkles getting on a disco dance floor.)
