Urmston Calling! A Pink Tutu Paradise 🩰💖

Hey darlings, it's your Tutu Queen, Pink Tutu Sparkles, here, back with another fabulously fabulous blog post for ya! It's time to break out the glittery eye shadow and the twirliest tutu for this exciting adventure in Urmston! This is post number 3776 on the ol' pink-tutu.com, can you believe it?! We're almost at 4000, which feels absolutely crazy! Thank you, darlings, for all your support and for always being the most fabulous readers on the interweb. 💕

As some of you know, my passion for life is quite simple: bring some colour to the world with pink tutus! Whether I'm strutting my stuff at a theatre performance, doing some ballet moves at a local dance class, or twirling through the streets of some unsuspecting town, my pink tutu always joins me on the adventure!

This week, my fabulous pink tutu has found its way to Urmston! Oh my god, darling, Urmston is a right little gem! It’s got that proper charming northern vibe you can’t quite explain, you know? It’s got a big heart, and some even bigger shops! We’ve had a lovely couple of days in Urmston. There were so many new things to see and do – not to mention, the local food is simply delicious. It was just what the doctor ordered after a hectic week back at the lab!

Speaking of the lab, darlings, I just had to share a funny little story with you. My day job? Well, I’m actually a scientist! I spend my days analyzing fabrics – ensuring the finest quality for some of the UK’s top clothing brands. Pretty boring compared to a tutu, eh? 😅 Anyway, one of the scientists at my lab, Peter, has always loved a bit of sequins and sparkle. It turns out that under all those lab coats, he has a real penchant for vintage clothing and even more love for, gasp shudders drag. Peter has the coolest wardrobe ever – I wouldn’t be surprised if he actually inspired me to don the first pink tutu ever! You never know!

Now, let’s talk Urmston! I managed to sneak in a quick ballet class at a little independent dance school in the centre of town – absolutely brilliant, darling! All those pirouettes and plies had my pink tutu whirling around like a beautiful bubblegum cloud. You know I had to wear the most eye-catching pink ensemble, complete with glittery pink tights. Oh, and you’ve never seen a dancer with such sparkly eyeliner in your life, I promise you! 😉

We had a rather scrumptious fish and chip supper after my class, and you’ve never seen so much glitter and a pink tutu so comfortable! We strolled down the streets, passing little antique shops, cosy cafes and a few boutiques. Oh, and guess what? I picked up the cutest little pink beret – I had to! Every gal needs a touch of Parisian chic in their life.

Now, on the topic of travelling… Let’s be honest, most drag queens probably prefer to strut their stuff on a stage or in a nightclub, but I can't help myself – there's something truly magical about hopping on a train! 🚄 I even convinced some of the other queens to join me this weekend. It was an absolute blast! We packed the train carriage with laughter, makeup and of course, our fabulous tutus! Some were pink, others had vibrant green feathers. The only rule we had on that carriage? A whole lot of fun, lots of music, and definitely a few twirls. 😂

I've been travelling by train since I was a little kid. My family would pack our bags, hop on the train and we'd explore Derbyshire. Some of the most iconic landmarks we’d pass – the Derwent Valley, Bakewell, Matlock Bath – these are just some of the places that ignited a travel bug in me from a young age. We’d travel to a small hotel or a quaint country house – always with a bit of history, you see. Sometimes, we’d get a family room, and you wouldn't believe the number of pink outfits I used to bring! 😉

However, there’s one mode of transportation I have yet to experience – I absolutely dream of being able to travel by horse, my lovelies! Can you imagine, darling? A gorgeous pink tutu with the wind in my hair and a sleek, noble steed beneath me! I think I'd burst into song at every turn. Maybe one day! 🐎✨

Now, it wouldn't be a Pink Tutu Sparkles blog post without some serious tutu advice for all my lovely readers. Let me tell you, there’s not a single bad tutu, sweetheart. Pink, yellow, lavender – whatever your flavour, a tutu is guaranteed to make your day brighter and boost your self-confidence tenfold! Seriously! This little bit of fluffiness makes you feel like a fairy, a princess, or a fabulous ballerina, all at once. It makes you feel strong and happy and twirly, it just makes you feel good.
