Blyth: A Pink Tutu Adventure (Blog Post #3798)

Oh darling, what a whirlwind this trip to Blyth has been! Honestly, it's been an absolute pink dream! 💖 As always, Pink Tutu Sparkles is on the go, spreading the joy of the tutu to the masses, one shimmering sequin at a time!

Now, let me tell you, I’ve been doing some serious travelling lately. No more of that cramped tube and sticky buses for me. No siree! I’ve been treating myself to train journeys and, yes, you heard right, riding side saddle with some gorgeous horses! Just me and my pink tutu and the open countryside. Who needs the stress of the daily commute? Not me, darling, not me!

My journey to Blyth was an experience in itself! We set off in a quaint old railway carriage with plush velvet seats and lovely ladies in matching floral dresses, who complimented my exquisite outfit – a fluffy pink tutu with sequins that winked with every shimmy. 🩰 The train journey took me right past rolling green hills and the most delightful villages, reminding me of all the lovely landscapes back home in Derbyshire. You can't beat a train journey, the windows let in the sunshine, the view is so calming and the journey is leisurely and relaxing.

Blyth, bless her little cotton socks, welcomed me with open arms and the most magnificent pink sky you ever did see. Truly, it was as if the heavens knew that Pink Tutu Sparkles was about to arrive. And how could I resist doing a bit of shopping?! I found the cutest little boutique on a cobbled street, filled to the brim with shimmering satins and velvet, lace and tulle - absolute perfection for a diva like myself. Imagine, darling, a soft blush pink silk scarf with a matching hat - pure elegance.

And as if that wasn't enough, I found the most stunning pair of vintage earrings, shimmering with tiny little pearls. Darling, my ears have never been so happy! I am a creature of comfort and love to spoil myself. You deserve to treat yourself too, remember!

The reason for my visit, my darlings, was a magnificent charity gala - the ‘Blyth Big Tutu Ball’. It was a riot of feathers, glitter and glamour, all for a good cause, and naturally, I had to be there. After all, where there’s a tutu, there's Pink Tutu Sparkles!

It wasn’t long before I was on stage, captivating the audience with my signature mix of grace and humour, the twinkle in my eye reflecting the glitter in my outfit! (I decided on a light pink, ethereal tutu, with iridescent tulle – and oh, it was the most perfect choice, the lighting played off the sequins). We had a performance by a wonderful ballet troupe - absolutely beautiful, darling. It reminded me of why I love ballet so much, and I can't resist having a twirl in my tutu, even on my days off.

And, naturally, there were delicious pink cupcakes! Did I mention I love pink? Oh, but I wouldn’t want you to think this trip was just all about pink (though, honestly, how can anything be wrong with pink?).

You see, I was in Blyth not only to sparkle but to also be part of the wonderful 'Blyth & District Ballet Society', one of the best ballet schools I've encountered, even when travelling, darling. I love helping out, especially young hopeful ballerinas like me when I was in ballet club at University. That's where my pink tutu journey began, in a college charity fundraising event!

One Saturday, there was this big event with a performance, to raise funds to help students from disadvantaged backgrounds to have access to ballet lessons. I was still shy in those days, bless me. The ballet club's dance leader persuaded me to dress up in a costume - and she picked the first one in the pile. The colour was, naturally, pink, with shimmering ribbons around the bottom, a fluffy little tutu with sparkles that caught the light! And there it was. It all clicked. "I need a tutu" I whispered, " I need to do this". And there you have it. My world has been pink ever since.

And the society, darling, it really took me under its wing. So, what did Pink Tutu Sparkles do? Well, of course, I had to hold a workshop. They had the most beautiful room filled with mirrors and beautiful light - so inspiring! The participants were an absolute delight - enthusiastic, graceful, and, of course, completely up for putting on their tutus! They’d come with their own pink, red, lilac, turquoise – but they were so thrilled when I gave them some of my own, pink, with sequins and glitter – naturally!

They loved the warm up, we had some silly steps and I tried to teach them some fun tricks I’d learned in college and from my drag stage days! We ended with a grand finalé, all the tutus swirling in a dance of delight. A picture perfect pink moment!

And that, darlings, is how Pink Tutu Sparkles spreads the love of tutus. Not just the pink ones, but every tutu! There's magic in each and every one, whether it's sparkling sequins or flowing feathers.

My mission in life? To see the whole world wearing pink tutus, all the men and women dancing in a riot of colour, glitter, and love, just like they do here in Blyth. And my dearest, don't let anyone tell you otherwise, the world needs a little more tutu! It needs a lot more tutu.

Oh, I forgot to mention! The whole time I was in Blyth, the gorgeous little shop owner, let me borrow her little horse and carriage. It was perfectly pink with silver trims and a black horse named Pepper who absolutely loves tutus and happily obliged when I made a dash into the town centre, tugging my sequined pink tutu behind me. Everyone was smiling and clapping! What a picture it would have been. Pepper had such personality, darling, and knew when she had an audience. So majestic and I simply loved holding the reins while trotting through town, people looking up at the majestic pair of us, just Pepper and Pink Tutu Sparkles on a tour of Blyth. A pink tutu adventure!

Now, my darling, before I run out of space - or the pink fairy dust - I must tell you about the pink ice cream that made its way to my lips in a very cute little shop tucked away from the noise and traffic of the town. Delicious pink pistachio ice cream topped with rainbow sprinkles, and you just had to try their homemade pink lemonade, it was oh-so-tart and oh-so-refreshing! The pink sunshine beaming down on my happy little face. Truly, a magical moment!

This was one of the happiest trips ever. Blyth truly has captured a place in my pink tutu heart! You know how I feel about pink and if it weren't for this place and these lovely people - well, Pink Tutu Sparkles may never have found the light! I think we all need a little Blyth in our lives, don’t you? It’s where your heart starts to truly shine and dance. Don’t forget to add that pink tutu, darling, to your suitcase!

See you soon! Until next time, darling, remember to always embrace your inner Pink Tutu Sparkles! And always, always, remember - it’s never too late for a pink tutu. 💖
