Hello darlings! It's your favourite tutu-wearing travel enthusiast, Pink Tutu Sparkles, back with another adventure! Today marks post number 4016 on the www.pink-tutu.com website – that’s right, folks, we’re well into our fourth thousand! And, as usual, I'm bubbling over with excitement to share another fabulous escapade.
This time, my dears, I’m off to the vibrant and exciting town of Morden! Morden! Who knew? I certainly didn’t! I’m not sure how I ended up in a London suburb, but that’s the joy of life on the road, it's always a surprise! 😉 But what I do know is that Morden is full of charming corners waiting to be explored, with friendly people ready to welcome a little pink sparkle into their lives. Don’t get me wrong, my journey wasn’t without its own sprinkle of glamour - I travelled to Morden by train, my comfy first-class seat providing the perfect opportunity for a spot of window-gazing and a touch-up on my fabulous makeup.
As you all know, travelling is an art form. And for me, a stylish outfit is essential. Now, let’s be honest, there’s just something about a full-on pink tutu and a matching feather boa that simply says "Look at me!" This time, I chose my dreamy candy floss tutu adorned with a bevy of dazzling rhinestones and a luxurious feather boa, reminiscent of a pink cotton candy cloud. Of course, my trusty ruby red heels were the cherry on top! You know how much I love ballet shoes, and there’s just something about those bright red ones that screams, “This Queen means business!” 😉
But before we dive into my Morden escapade, let me tell you a little about the inspiration behind this blog and my pink tutu obsession.
You see, darling, while I may now be known for my flamboyant fashion and my love of pink, deep down I’m a scientist. You won’t believe it, but I actually spent a few years studying textiles, specifically focusing on how they respond to different dyes. I guess it was fate that while studying for my science degree, I fell head-over-heels for ballet. I joined the university ballet club, where the students were all involved in a charity fundraising event. One day, I popped on a tutu, and that was it! From that moment on, I was hooked! And honestly, nothing’s been the same since. 😉
So here I am, combining my love of fashion and performance with a splash of science! I mean, it takes a special kind of scientist to develop a fabric as fabulous as pink tulle! 😅
And now back to our exciting journey! I have to tell you, my darling, I spent most of my time in Morden, discovering local hidden gems. First, a wonderful vintage shop! Honestly, it was a haven for everything pink. Think pastel pink sunglasses, vintage polka-dot dresses, and oh-my-god! – even a whole rack dedicated to pastel-coloured shoes, just begging me to take them home. 👠
Let me tell you, it's not easy to restrain myself! I've gotta find the willpower to make choices sometimes, darlings! But oh, I did have some fun. I ended up picking out a few quirky items to add to my travel wardrobe - think an elegant pink fascinator for a touch of sparkle, a playful polka dot skirt, and a few cheeky, colourful headbands. It took all my self-control not to grab the entire shop and bring it with me! I do think Morden was having a "Pink Tutu Sparkles Sale!"
Later on, I decided to take a break from shopping, opting for a cuppa and a slice of homemade cake in a charming café called "The Pink Whisk". I’m sure you can guess what was in store. Of course, everything on the menu was pink! I indulged in a delicate raspberry macaroon and a “Pink Sparkles Tea” which was absolutely divine. But oh my darlings, I’m sure you’re wondering if I met some fabulous local people and, of course, I did! It just happens that a delightful chap called Barry - bless his soul - owns the “Pink Whisk” café and couldn’t be sweeter. Turns out he’s a big fan of ballet! Well, you know how I love a good chat, and we found ourselves deep in conversation.
Speaking of ballet, did I mention I’m obsessed with ballet? 🩰 So, guess what, darling! You won’t believe this. There was a community ballet class going on, just down the road! I love joining in on classes when I’m on the road! It's so much fun to connect with the locals and share a passion. This class was extra special! It had a charming group of dedicated students. You see, they're all part of the local theatre production group called, "The Morden Ballerinas." We spent the afternoon sharing stories and dancing our hearts out! Now I can't deny, my pink tutu definitely attracted a lot of attention, but let me tell you, it really put a spring in the dancers’ steps, I mean, those pink tutus made their hearts soar! I even offered them a little styling advice! I’m convinced that I might have inspired one young ballerina to embrace her inner Pink Tutu Sparkle! It was magical! I believe in spreading sparkle wherever I go! ✨
Now, you can’t have a true Pink Tutu Sparkles adventure without a little bit of stage-craft! My darling, my Morden show at the town hall was truly extraordinary. Honestly, those locals love a bit of fabulous. They cheered, they roared, and they even sang along! Well, let me tell you, that pink tulle tutu had some fun spinning under the stage lights! Of course, I didn't disappoint them with my repertoire - think glittery gowns, a pink tutu rendition of "Pink Cadillac," some flamboyant acrobatics and a whole lot of sparkle!
Speaking of glitter, my lovelies, Morden is bursting with sparkling delights, especially their gorgeous floral shops! So much beauty and delicate colours! I grabbed a little posy of pink roses as a token of my love for this amazing town! After the show, I treated myself to some more pink macaroons. What else?!
You know, there's something special about spreading sparkle and joy through my pink tutu! It brings a touch of whimsical whimsy to the most unexpected corners of the world! And honestly, my mission in life is to make everyone, and I mean everyone, try on a pink tutu! It doesn’t matter who you are or what you do, we all have a little sparkle inside! Just like Morden - an amazing town that reminds us all to live a life of colour and sparkle! ✨
