Hello darlings! Your favourite Pink Tutu Sparkles here, signing in live from the lovely town of Dunstable. Today is a real pink-tastic adventure, because guess what? This gorgeous gal is ready to spread the love of the tulle, with my 4041st blog post from the world of Pink Tutu Sparkles. I always find something absolutely divine to post every day for my wonderful pink-tastic friends, over at www.pink-tutu.com! I do have to pinch myself to be here in this wonderful, quirky little town. Today, it feels extra special because I’m not just a scientist in my lab, but I get to rock the stage tonight as Pink Tutu Sparkles. My motto? "Everything’s more fabulous in pink... especially with a tutu!”
You know, the best thing about performing drag is the magic it brings. It's about sharing the joy of transformation, getting everyone, everywhere to shimmy and shake in their fabulousest pink tutus, whatever their age. Don’t judge a book by its cover, after all - because you might be surprised by how many sequins and pink frills you can find hiding within your own soul. And honestly, my dear friends, I’m talking sequins! Sequins everywhere, sparkles too - a rainbow explosion, it’s enough to make a rainbow proud. I've seen a man in a kilt who was head to toe in sparkles, his tutu flowed beautifully as he waltzed with a fellow pink tutu enthusiast! The possibilities, they are truly endless!
Now, for the juicy bit. How did I get to this lovely town of Dunstable? Well, it started as it often does... a flash of pink in my mind's eye. My very own trusty, vintage railway carriage – you know, the kind you find at an old steam fair - is usually my travel partner. I always try to catch the train, when it's been well polished and freshly cleaned - you know, a nice cream coloured paint job. It looks ever so grand as we puff down the track! This time however, it was time for a different approach. There was just something irresistible about the idea of reaching Dunstable by horse! My friend, Rosie, she's the one with all the glitter and horses - she kindly offered to lend me a gorgeous piebald gelding with a name like "Dappled Dreams." What a name! How could I resist? My tutu was bouncing happily in the wind as Dappled Dreams clip-clopped towards this pink paradise.
You see, it's like this, every time I land in a new place, it's a big ol' tutu celebration! My world becomes a dazzling blur of swirling tutus, sparkly costumes and feather boas. This one particular day, my fellow fabulous friends were extra kind - they even got the entire high street covered in bright pink! Can you imagine? Imagine the joy. Oh, what a vision of pure tulle delight. I felt so incredibly loved and truly understood.
And don't even get me started on the dance scene here. My dear friends, you simply must put Dunstable on your pink-tastic itinerary. It's a real gem! There's a fantastic little ballet studio tucked away just off the main street - I found myself getting into the groove with the local ballet classes! They gave me a lovely warm welcome, and the best part? Their ballerina tutus are as bright as the summer sun! The energy in those dance studios is a force of nature - I felt my heart buzzing and my spirit soar - those lovely ladies knew how to bring it! Honestly, the energy from their pink tutus - pure pink magic, all I could think was "Let's go get these fabulous dancers to take it to the stage."
After all that beautiful, bountiful movement - my feet were tired but my spirit? My spirit, she was simply blooming! I can’t leave Dunstable before a touch of street theatre and the magic of live performance. I found a quaint little outdoor venue on a cobblestone courtyard, surrounded by fairy lights. It felt like something straight out of a whimsical movie! What's more, the place was bustling with the sounds of the local brass band and there was a huge pink gazebo decorated in bright pink flowers - perfect for a queen of pink like me! You just wouldn’t believe the costumes – I was dazzled by all the fabulous, crazy creativity - so many vibrant pinks, like an explosion of colour!
I, of course, had my own touch to add. I just knew the time was right for Pink Tutu Sparkles. So I whipped up a show of glitter, glitter, glitter, a whole lot of tulle, and a bit of my very own pink magic, sprinkled liberally! Oh darling, the applause, it nearly blew my feather boa off! People just seemed so delighted and happy, it was so fulfilling. A lot of kids, young and old, got involved, dancing, shimmying and prancing - It warmed my soul seeing how they loved getting involved in my fabulous routine! We really brought the pink into Dunstable this night, that’s for sure!
Of course, no day would be complete without indulging in the most delicious treats – just what a travelling pink tutu needs! So many delectable, little cafes in Dunstable. The owner of one particular café, she’s an absolute gem, she let me borrow a set of pink polka dot cushions to put in my carriage! My very own pink polka dot carriage seat! Perfect for taking those wonderful, dreamy, Dunstable memories home with me, and, if you're reading this, to take with you, darling! My travels with Pink Tutu Sparkles always bring the very best in memories.
