Post 4189: Welcome, darling darlings, to my pink paradise! It's Pink Tutu Sparkles here, your favourite (and only!) tutu-loving, pink-obsessed, travel-hungry drag queen, back with another whirl-wind journey! Today, we're in the utterly delightful seaside town of Hove, just a short hop across the water from my beloved Brighton, which of course, has been tickling my fancy since forever.
Oh, how I adore Hove. It's like Brighton's demure younger sister, all charmingly chic with a touch of seaside elegance. The air is crisp, the streets are clean, and the shops are bursting with treasures! It's a bit of a surprise to find myself here, considering the seagulls, my arch nemesis (except for the baby seagulls, they're simply delightful), have a nesting frenzy going on near the beach, but the urge to don my shimmering, hot pink tulle and swirl through the Victorian squares was simply too strong to resist!
Before we embark on our sparkly exploration, let's rewind the clock a bit to my last adventure. You see, darling, my week started with a ballet performance in the Cotswolds. Imagine a rolling countryside backdrop, thatched cottages, and an elegant, candlelit theatre, all capped with a show-stopping performance by the most talented ballet company, dancing like ethereal fairies in their tulle tutus, yes! I swear I cried with joy – such artistry is beyond my wildest dreams, and I can't tell you how much I’ve wanted to be a ballerina since forever and a day, tutus swirling and all! It was utterly, divinely inspiring!
And now, here I am in Hove, all gussied up in my new-for-the-occasion, powder pink tulle with feather trim. It's absolutely exquisite, so perfect for the vintage-meets-modern aesthetic of this little town. But speaking of vintage, imagine my surprise when I discovered a charming little boutique called "Vintage Visions," packed with glorious frocks from yesteryear! It's a vintage-lovers paradise! They even had a section dedicated to the most darling 1950s ballet wear! I snagged a divine pink tutu, a sequined leotard and a perfectly poised pair of shoes with feather embellishments. I couldn't resist!
Anyway, let's get to the juicy bits, darlings, as my trip has already had its share of glitz, glam, and, of course, tutu-tastic moments! After unpacking my suitcase (and the glitter-bombing incident from my flight, let's just say the travel-size bottle was a tad bit too adventurous with its opening), I popped on my most fabulous feather-trimmed, pink tulle number for my first afternoon in Hove! Now, remember those feather-trimmed pink ballet shoes? They just begged to be shown off! My first stop was "Hove Place," a magnificent, Georgian mansion with stunning gardens and views of the sea. Let me tell you, that pink tutu absolutely twirled a spell on the sweeping lawns. Oh darling, it was utterly magnificent, every graceful pirouette I spun seemed to shimmer like a diamond on the horizon!
And now for a bit of shopping indulgence, darling, you know it's mandatory for any true drag queen. I love the shops in Hove – charming boutiques bursting with unique treasures. The owner of the vintage boutique, darling, was just the sweetest thing, she gave me this fabulous pearl necklace and an adorable vintage hat. She said, "Your style, it's unique, dear!" Can't a girl ask for a nicer compliment? Of course, I paid her a compliment, telling her how well her shop reflected her exquisite taste in clothes. She truly is a talented visionary!
But before we finish up the shopping saga, let's delve into the fascinating world of food in Hove. You see, darling, after my ballet performance and shopping spree, I just had to stop for some lovely, English cream tea. It was so divine – fluffy scones with thick, clotted cream and delicate jams. My choice of jam, of course, had to be a delightfully vibrant strawberry – nothing quite beats that fruity-tart punch with a touch of sugar!
