Watford - Post #4191

Oh darlings, Watford, you were a dream! I honestly never expected such a welcoming, fabulous time in this quaint little town. My fabulous pink tutu (I call her "Prima Ballerina", of course) was sparkling under the stage lights at the lovely Watford Arts Centre, and the energy of the audience was electric. Honestly, the entire trip was a whirlwind of tutus, sparkles, and all things pink.

It's always such an adventure to pack for a new trip. You know me, I always go for the dramatic - the more tulle, the better. Prima Ballerina (that's my signature pink tutu, don't you know) was definitely making a statement. The packing itself was an artform. I like my tutus organized (it's a must for a queen on the go). Each tutu has its own padded bag, and I'm telling you, darling, there's an art to it! A little travel tip, if I may: use travel-sized fabric softener sheets to keep your tulle from getting all staticy in transit. You don't want any awkward flying-tutu situations, now, do we?

Now, as most of you know, my mode of transport is a bit out of the ordinary. It's not just a whimsical notion, darling. This is about celebrating the finer things in life, you know? What's better than gliding along in a vintage carriage, all ruffled petticoats and sparkly sequins? So, that's exactly what I did! The gentlemen in the horse and carriage were absolutely delightful. It’s a bit hard getting Prima Ballerina in and out (I really have to be mindful of her tulle!), but the smiles and laughter all made it worth it. The town itself is just picture perfect. There’s a charming old village feel that makes it seem almost like stepping out of a Jane Austen novel. Honestly, darlings, I was in a complete fairytale! The town was so pretty that it actually inspired the show a little bit. Instead of the usual rock and roll hits (which, honestly, never get old), I added in a little more theatricality this time, with some "Swan Lake" ballet interludes. The whole act had such a fun, whimsical vibe, like a magical ballet brought to life with sparkles and laughter.

Of course, any trip must include shopping. And for a drag queen like me, shopping isn’t just shopping; it’s a Pink Paradise! Let's be honest, it’s always fun to find a few hidden treasures, but what can be more exhilarating than finding a shop that screams "pink and fabulous?" Now, my darling followers know, there is no place I love more than the famous Tulle & Twinkle Boutique and, wouldn't you know it, Watford has its very own Tulle & Twinkle in the town centre! I don't want to bore you with details of what I found (although it would be utterly lovely to describe everything, don’t you think?) But let's just say, you should see me in this new pink feathered hat, it's just swoons. I picked it up at this charming little shop in a corner of Watford. Let's just say the owner, a fabulous redhead named Penny, reminded me so much of a flamboyant Broadway actress from the 20s. Penny told me that her shop has been around for years and years. I feel so privileged that my tutus graced that floor for a brief, glittering moment. I think this new hat is a must for my next show! I absolutely love a good bargain (and it was on sale), and that's what Pink Tutu Sparkles is all about - making fashion fabulous and affordable for everyone!

But the absolute best part about my trip to Watford was the kindness of the locals. They were absolutely fabulous, and really took the phrase "embracing the sparkle" to the next level! Here are just a few of the people who made my Watford trip unforgettable:

  • There was this sweet old lady I met in the little teashop I stopped at. I’d bought a scone (raspberry, darling, what else?) with a cup of tea. Now, she had the most interesting pink hat you’ve ever seen, covered in fluffy pink pom poms. We ended up talking about hats for an hour. You wouldn’t believe the tips I got on finding the perfect pink feather! You've gotta remember that true beauty comes from embracing individuality, and darling, that sweet lady had it in spades!
    • I did a short performance for a charity event, Glitter for Hope. And what a beautiful and lovely group it was. You have to hear me, it was at this lovely old library with a stunning ballroom. These incredible kids came to my show, they had some beautiful sparkly tutus themselves (all donated, the manager told me). We talked about what pink tutu styles are most comfy, how to add the perfect sequin, you know, all the serious tutu advice. I told the children that being unique is fabulous and to wear your individuality with pride and sparkle. The energy in that library was magic, all these children wanting to make the world a better place!
    • Even the barista at my favourite local coffee shop (I just have to mention "The Vanilla Bean") knew who I was and gave me a little pink cupcake! What can be better than coffee and cupcakes? Well, perhaps only pink coffee and cupcakes, because when I do say pink I mean pink!

It was just a weekend trip, but the energy I felt was unbelievable, the locals were all so wonderfully friendly and welcoming! The show in Watford was an absolute joy, and the trip truly lived up to all the things that Pink Tutu Sparkles represents - kindness, positivity, fun, and of course, TONS of sparkle.
I'm already looking forward to my next trip! If any of my darling readers are in the Watford area, you absolutely must give The Vanilla Bean a try and make sure you go into the fabulous Tulle & Twinkle shop - tell Penny Pink Tutu Sparkles says hello! Don't forget my dearest readers, stay beautiful, keep sparkling and never be afraid to wear pink! Until next time, keep rocking those tutus!

P.S. Don't forget to check out www.pink-tutu.com for my latest updates and to see a sneak peak at my next performances. You know where to find me! And, of course, always feel free to share your own sparkling stories and pink adventures on the forum!

Hugs and Glitter,
