Hello my lovely darlings! It's your favourite pink-tutu-wearing queen, Pink Tutu Sparkles, back with another post from my travels! Today I'm coming to you straight from the seaside town of Hartlepool, and let me tell you, it's been a tutu-tastic time! This is post number 4193 on the ol' blog, www.pink-tutu.com, so you know it's gonna be a good one!
Now, I know what you're thinking - Hartlepool? It's not exactly the most glamorous location, is it? Well, you'd be surprised! This little town on the coast of the North Sea has charm for days! Don't get me wrong, it's definitely a far cry from the London stages I'm used to performing on, but that's part of what I love about travelling as a drag queen - discovering hidden gems and spreading the joy of tutus far and wide!
I arrived in Hartlepool via the most delightful of modes of transport: the railway! I swear, the rhythm of the train tracks, the rhythmic chuffing of the engine, it gets my creative juices flowing like nothing else! It's the perfect time for brainstorming my next dance routine or jotting down ideas for future posts - oh, the power of a train journey! 🚂
And when I arrived at Hartlepool station, it felt like a step back in time! I mean, the station is just absolutely beautiful! Think Victorian architecture, high vaulted ceilings and intricate tiling - it's truly breathtaking! And then I spotted this sweet little café, right outside the station. They had the most amazing selection of teas and pastries, and, of course, the staff were simply adorable. We had a lovely chat about the local area and I was already feeling so welcomed!
Speaking of welcomed, my show at the local theatre was an absolute smash! The venue was a gorgeous old art deco building with a real "bygone era" charm - just my style! I got so much love from the audience, and even managed to get a few folks rocking their own tutus! It truly warmed my pink-tutu-loving heart!
Of course, no trip to a seaside town is complete without a little dose of salty air and the ocean breeze! I spent the afternoon walking along the beach, watching the seagulls dive for fish and listening to the gentle crash of waves. Honestly, there's something so calming about being near the sea! And let's be honest, the windswept seaside is the perfect location for perfecting my sassy hair flicks! Who needs a hair salon when you've got nature's very own wind tunnel!
But the highlight of my Hartlepool adventure has to be the unexpected ballet performance I stumbled upon! Yes, you read that right - ballet! It was held at a quaint little hall, with all the local kids getting involved. It was simply charming! The little ones were so full of energy and excitement, and their dancing was absolutely adorable! And I have to confess, seeing all those tiny, vibrant tutus dancing on stage made me realise just how far the tutu craze had come - even little tots were embracing the magic! ✨
This little detour from the usual performance scene, though, has reminded me of why I started all this: spreading the love of tutus and performance! I was always a shy little lad in Derbyshire - but when I donned my first tutu while at uni, it was like a whole new world opened up. My science degree taught me about testing and researching materials, but the stage was where I discovered how to truly express myself.
And that's my mission in life, folks: to get every single one of you in a pink tutu and embracing the joy of performance. Whether it's ballet or drag, it doesn't matter! As long as you're moving, smiling, and letting your inner diva shine, then I'm happy! And the fact that my day job involves testing fabrics helps too - I'm constantly looking for the next revolutionary material to elevate our pink tutu game to a whole new level!
So thank you Hartlepool, for being such a beautiful and welcoming place! I've had a tutu-tastic time and I can't wait to see what adventures await me next!
