Fulham Fantasies: A Tutu-ful Adventure!

Hello, darlings! It’s your favourite pink-tutu-wearing princess, Pink Tutu Sparkles, here! This is blog post number 4195, and I am absolutely buzzing with excitement because today, I am whisking you away to the beautiful, charming, and ever-so-slightly bohemian Fulham!

Fulham is an absolute haven for tutu enthusiasts! You can practically hear the tinkling of piano keys from street performers, the rustling of elegant silk from shoppers browsing boutiques, and the thud of a pirouette from those oh-so-stylish dance studios. It's just the perfect blend of chic, culture, and captivating beauty.

Now, before I embark on my grand adventure, I want to give a shout-out to my trusty sidekick for this journey: my horse, Princess. You heard that right, darlings, a horse! (Whisper it - but it's actually a trusty black Hackney gelding who gets all dolled up for my outings in Fulham.) Riding a horse is much more fabulous than that crowded tube, darling! (Just don't tell the carriage horse guys from Hyde Park - they think it's a competition, even if Princess doesn't care. Bless them! They’re a bit grumpy.)

But where to even start, darlings? Let's begin our Fulham journey with a grand ballet entrance... literally! We’ll start at the world-famous Sadler's Wells Theatre. My first tutu encounter (other than the one in that hilarious university ballet charity show – let's not speak of the glitter incident…) was seeing the exquisite ballet of “Swan Lake" here, back in my uni days!

I swear, it was like magic! All those elegant ballerinas twirling across the stage in their magnificent pink tutus, the gentle music weaving through the theatre like a fairy tale… That's when I truly realised: Pink tutus are a life philosophy. A mission, even! Every day I'm spreading the word – "The world needs more pink tutus." You're welcome!

Fulham is like a kaleidoscope of tutu inspiration. Just across the River Thames from my beloved Westminster, it’s the perfect little tutu haven – a whirlwind of charming boutiques and exquisite vintage stores. Even if the weather decides to be a little gloomy, (remember the day I almost slipped on that cobbled street?! Oh, the drama… the disaster! The silver lining - my pink sequined tutu added just the right touch of whimsy.) Just trust me, darlings! A pink tutu always makes everything fabulous, even those unexpected "slippage" moments! It's all part of the fun. (I always bring my spare tulle in my tote bag – you just never know.)

But Fulham is more than just clothes, darlings! We have some real treats waiting to be explored:

The Charm of Fulham's Past:

  • For a glimpse into the history of this charming district, the Fulham Palace and its lovely gardens are a must-visit. You can soak up the atmosphere of the ancient Bishop's house – and they even have a cafe that serves divine pink cakes! It’s a delicious treat for both eyes and your tummy! (Seriously, if you ever have a chance to try the “Rosewater Dream” - a delectable pink cake – you simply have to!)

Fulham: An Artistic Soul:

  • After the historical delight of Fulham Palace, we head to Fulham’s vibrant artistic side, making our way to the Thames Barrier Park, the heart of the Fulham arts scene. Imagine this, darlings - a picturesque walk along the riverbank, with strolling musicians playing enchanting melodies... And what do I wear? A sparkling pink tutu, of course! It's a real ballet of vibrant colour, laughter, and a pinch of pink-tutu magic, darling!
  • Don't forget, you simply can't leave Fulham without a visit to the Fulham Library, another artistic treasure. Forget about boring, dusty books – they host fascinating events and exhibitions for creative minds, just like me! It’s a space that feels just as vibrant as a Pink Tutu Sparkles show. You simply have to come see!

But speaking of Pink Tutu Sparkles shows, darlings, you've got to hear this:

I found a tiny hidden treasure – a little bar tucked away on a street like it belongs in a vintage fairytale, called the “Tutu Club!” It's a gem, absolutely dripping with charm – complete with little fairy lights strung around the ceiling, like magic dust from my very own pink-tutu-land. It has this fantastic vibe!

Imagine the music pulsating through the night, a little bit bossa nova and a dash of electro swing - absolutely perfect for a little Pink Tutu Sparkles dance. (Don't worry, Princess isn’t dancing – yet, anyway, I'll have to convince her to get involved soon. The idea of her in a sequined mini-tutu... fabulous!) And as the night grows deeper, you'll find this little club is a perfect place to catch a glimpse of Fulham’s exciting local scene, full of amazing dancers, musicians, and people who know how to truly party. (It makes a change from those over-priced and often so boring bars in Westminster, I tell you!)

Now, I know you're all asking – where did I have lunch on this magical journey? Where did this tutu queen feast?!

Darling, I couldn’t resist trying the best cupcakes I have ever had (that’s saying something – I have tried more cakes and cupcakes than most!). These tiny little pieces of loveliness were a pure pink delight and had to be the absolute star of the show, just like me when I glide onto a stage with my pink-tutu!

I visited a place called Little Dough Co. on Parsons Green (a gorgeous location, right on the River Thames, and if you don't look, you might actually forget to eat and get lost in its loveliness.). They made perfectly pretty cupcakes, but here’s the best part: They let you pick your own cupcake design! Oh, I told them how I like pink, and that my life revolves around the perfect pink tutu, and what do you think they created for my lunch? They went the extra mile, and whipped me up a special pink-tutu inspired cupcake. Imagine – it was decorated with pink buttercream, and a pink sugar-paste tutu, shaped just like mine! Absolutely divine! (Princess might not understand the whole “pink tutu cupcake” thing – she would be happier with an apple...but she did approve of the crumbs!)

By now, it’s pretty late! Fulham's magic is working its charm, I’ve enjoyed the arts, culture, and charm, but my favourite part of all - those pink-tutu-worthy moments – is a feeling that Fulham radiates. There’s a lovely sense of warmth, vibrancy, and creativity - it just pulls you in and invites you to experience its whimsy!

Now, you've seen it through the lens of your favourite pink-tutu-wearing queen - but I really want you to see it for yourself! I have one last secret piece of Fulham wisdom for you...

Remember, it's all about finding the magic wherever you are. Don't let anything, even an off-day for Princess (one of those grumpy horse days – not to be taken lightly!), stand in your way. Whether it's Fulham, or any other amazing part of the world, just remember this is my mantra, darlings, and it will always apply: Let the spark within you light up the world with pink tutu-licious flair!

See you all next time, darling! Remember, wear a pink tutu - spread the love!

XOXO

Pink Tutu Sparkles (and Alex, of course - the one who loves the science of fabric – you could say it's my inner, scientific inspiration that gives the tutu that fabulous bounce.)
