Aberdeen, Oh Aberdeen! (Post 4409)

Hello darlings! It's your girl Pink Tutu Sparkles here, reporting live from the bonnie, bonnie city of Aberdeen! This is, of course, a magical experience. What better place for a queen like me than a city nestled on the rugged North Sea coast, known for its stunning granite architecture, its historical charm and its bustling cultural scene? Let’s dive right in to the details of my adventure, shall we?

This, my dears, is a real travel day. Yes, even queens like me need a little journey sometimes, especially when it’s all for the love of the stage. Now, for all you newcomers who might have stumbled upon this little slice of pink-tutu-ed heaven, my love for the colour pink is a given! You already know the deal; tutus, sparkly dresses, shoes with glitzy details – that’s just how I roll. So imagine my absolute joy when I landed myself a spot performing at the Aberdeen Summer Fair, just the place to let those tutus and sequins fly free!

For the road this time, I took the train, which I find is always the best way to unwind. The train carriages are often comfy, and what’s better than looking at the world whizz by whilst enjoying a cuppa and a lovely cake? It's a chance to relax, get into character and truly feel the spirit of my journey. Even the little details like picking a station-bound pink iced biscuit were a highlight. Plus, there's always a chance of meeting fellow glitter-lovers. A kind man across from me even gave me his entire packet of pink sweet mints, for goodness sake! So a huge, "thanks" to the charming chap from somewhere up North - I hope he had a fantastic trip too.

The city itself is simply enchanting, I'll be posting all the pics for you later today. The energy is electrifying! This is a place where people genuinely love a good time, and that vibe shines through in everything from the historic architecture to the friendly locals. But for a queen like me, the best part, obviously, is the shopping! So let me tell you, my darling followers, you don't want to miss out on the fashion scene in Aberdeen! The city is bursting with cute shops, quirky boutiques, and vibrant markets where I’m already plotting my next outfit - all thanks to some seriously fabulous street fashion inspo I've spotted so far.

One thing you all know is I love a good dance! While Aberdeen has some brilliant theatre options – even offering classes for the ballet fanatics like myself, I decided to catch a performance at the Royal Aberdeen Children's Theatre – what a brilliant theatre – which just had to be a stop on my journey, of course. I’ve found a lovely local theatre group called the “Thistle Dancers” who are doing their own performance of The Nutcracker next week - which has to be a win for me, wouldn’t you agree? I hope my busy schedule allows time for me to go watch them; after all, this Queen does need some creative inspiration, don’t I?!

My travels wouldn’t be complete without, of course, some time spent visiting one of the many local markets that fill Aberdeen. There are more independent businesses than I can count here, and of course, some shops you know are always worth a stop - like Lush - where you could lose hours smelling the delightful bath bombs and sniffing their new lip products. And let’s not forget to mention the traditional sweetie shops, with their overflowing baskets of sherbet lemons and other sugary delights. Honestly, I think my pink tutu has become quite a tourist attraction - people just keep wanting their photo taken with me – which, to be fair, is probably my favourite part of touring, because you, the people, are the real reason I love being a travelling, tutu-wearing drag artist!

So let's be clear: a visit to Aberdeen is an absolute must! The locals have the warmest hearts, and the energy of this charming, historic city will inspire you from the moment you step off the train. And I'm telling you, the shopping, my dears, is truly worth a visit. This, my little darlings, is where the true joy of exploration really takes shape. Don't forget to catch me at the Aberdeen Summer Fair on the weekend, where my heart will be bursting to share some sparkly fun with all you lovely people. If you spot a pink tutu, come say hi. You won't miss it!

Until next time, my dears. Stay sparkly, and may your tutus always be pink.

Xoxo
