Hove Hooray! Pink Tutu Sparkles Takes on the South Coast!

Hello, my darlings! Pink Tutu Sparkles here, bringing you a brand new blog post from the dazzling, shimmering shores of Hove, straight from my fabulous, fluffy, pink tutu! It’s been a whirlwind of a week, a flurry of feathers, a parade of petticoats – and, well, you’ll just have to read on, my loves! This is blog post number 4447, and believe me, every single one is worth a click on www.pink-tutu.com, ready to fill your day with sparkle, shimmer, and a sprinkle of pink!

I’m thrilled to share with you, my dear followers, the magical adventure that unfolded on the South Coast! Hove, oh Hove, with your charming beaches and delightful seafront, you really do deserve a big ol’ “Ta-da!” from your favourite pink tutu-clad performer!

A Journey to the Seaside

Now, this isn’t the first time Pink Tutu Sparkles has graced the English seaside with her presence – but this journey, oh, this journey was truly something special. Remember that time I did a performance at the Brighton pier? And that time I tried out my latest sparkly-pink tutu design in Eastbourne? Yes, well, this journey was all about that lovely mix of beachy vibes, seaside fun, and the irresistible glamour of Pink Tutu Sparkles.

But first, I had to get there! And let me tell you, the journey is just as important as the destination – especially when you're travelling in style, with a bag full of sequined frocks and a love for everything sparkly!

Being a true Pink Tutu Sparkles kind of gal, I knew my chariot of choice had to be, well, nothing short of spectacular! A trip to the seaside without a good old-fashioned train journey is simply unthinkable.

Yes, the railway line beckoned, calling me to join its rhythmic rumble and enjoy the sights whizzing past. I’m absolutely smitten with train journeys, the anticipation as the carriages fill, the hushed whispers of fellow travellers – there's an undeniable sense of magic about the whole experience.

The sun was shining, the air was crisp and I had my very own travel companion – my fluffy pink handbag, bursting at the seams with costume accessories, glittery make-up, and a book about ballet (one has to keep up with the arts, you know!)

The journey was just a little bit slower than I would have liked, but you can't rush magic. We chugged along, stopping at picturesque little towns along the way, and finally arrived at the gorgeous, vibrant Hove, ready to unleash my sparkly-pink goodness!

A Dance at the Promenade

The first thing I did when I arrived in Hove, well, after a quick stop for fish and chips (no time for fancy seafood restaurants, dearies, when your tummy's rumbling and you've got a show to do!), was a visit to the local promenade! What else would a pink tutu-wearing drag queen do, you ask?

The promenade, darling, with its wide expanse of golden sands and crisp sea air - well, I couldn’t resist a quick whirl and twirl! Picture me, Pink Tutu Sparkles, swirling around the prom in my pinkest, most fabulous tutu, my feather boa floating like a whimsical cloud – just a little teaser of the magic I was about to unleash at my show tonight.

I got so many smiles and waves from passing beachgoers! Everyone seemed delighted to see a pink-tutu clad drag queen swirling on their seaside promenade. Who could resist a bit of joyful chaos, right? Hove was ready to be painted pink, darling! And I was ready to bring my best pink tutu magic to the stage.

Backstage at the "Pink and Pearly"

Before my show, darling, it was time to get into my full Pink Tutu Sparkles persona, and let me tell you, this takes more time than you might imagine! Transforming from my everyday self, Alex the scientist, into the dazzling queen you all know and love involves a flurry of activity, glitter, and quite a bit of eyelash glue!

I snuck back to my hotel room ( a small, charming little place, just off the seafront) and got ready!

This evening’s performance was taking place at a quirky, colourful little theatre tucked away down a narrow, cobbled street. The “Pink and Pearly,” as it was so cleverly named, had a bright pink entrance – almost like it had been plucked straight from a fairytale! I couldn’t have been more excited, and if my stomach wasn’t rumbling so much, I’d probably have danced all the way from the hotel to the theatre!

My “Pink and Pearly” dressing room, a delightful little space painted in a sunny shade of buttercup yellow, felt like it had been made for a diva like me!

“Pink Tutu Sparkles! So lovely to see you back, sweetheart! You’ve certainly kept your tutu fabulous, as always!” I was met with warm smiles from the “Pink and Pearly’s” friendly team – everyone dressed in sparkly pink dresses and feathers – you just knew they loved their job! They’ve always been fantastically welcoming, and I’ve always felt like part of the family here.

I quickly took out my full-length mirror, propped it on the tiny dressing table ( which was adorned with sparkly silver tinsel and fluffy pink hearts!) and went about my business!

The full transformation from Alex to Pink Tutu Sparkles is an art in itself, my loves. Let’s not get caught up in technicalities or intricate processes here – just know this - lots of eyelash glue, a fabulous wig, sparkly eye shadow, and a few puffs of theatrical smoke – and voila! Pink Tutu Sparkles, the queen of pink tutus!

My sequined outfit gleamed under the stage lights – the most fabulous, most glamorous outfit, all ready for another amazing performance! The dressing room smelled delicious - a delightful mix of glitter, freshly popped popcorn and musk from my favourite Pink-Scented Perfume (it’s quite a cult classic in the Pink Tutu Sparkles world, you know!)

With a final touch of lip gloss and a triumphant whirl of my sequined dress, it was time!

Time to Shine

The curtains of the “Pink and Pearly” flew open to an audience bursting with excitement and applause – everyone dressed to the nines, ready for a night of dazzling entertainment! The music started – the same sweet, catchy song that always kicked off my shows. The lights danced – reflecting off my tutu and showering the whole stage in a dazzling shower of pink!

Now, let me tell you – I absolutely love this song – It always brings me back to my childhood, back to the feeling of pure unadulterated joy and the feeling of twirling in my first pink tutu at a ballet class when I was about 10. That childhood thrill – I’ve kept it alive all these years and it just comes alive on stage every time I hear the first notes.

The entire crowd erupted – cheering, clapping, and even screaming, a good mix of adults and families! This time, I’d brought my ballet bag along. You see, I never want to stray far from my passion – ballet has always been close to my heart! So, tonight’s show was all about showcasing the power and grace of dance, along with my ever-so-important tutu of course.

After the traditional opening number - a playful blend of high-energy choreography and flamboyant lip-synching, the highlight of the show had arrived! I twirled, jumped, and spun across the stage, showcasing some basic, yet delightful ballet moves – inspired by my beloved ballet class in Derby – I added my own touch of sparkles, glitter and flamboyant draq magic. The crowd erupted – a wave of joyous applause, whoops, and whistles.

My Aim: Spread the Pink Tutu Magic

“If there’s anything more glorious than a pink tutu, darling, let me know!” I always end my show with that little rhyme – my very own brand of draq magic – but really, what could possibly be more magical?

After the curtain fell on my final number, I stayed a while longer – signing autographs and chatting to some of the lovely families who came along – their smiles made it all worth it! And what’s more – they’re now all on my way to becoming “pink-tutu converts!” I gave out pink tutu pamphlets, answered endless questions about how to wear a pink tutu (oh yes, there is an art to it, my loves!) and I can practically see my Pink Tutu Sparkles fan club growing every day!

By the time the last of the “Pink and Pearly’s” team gave me a warm farewell, and I left the little pink-tinged theatre – the show was over, the audience was gone, and the magic was still in the air. I felt happy. I felt empowered. And, yes, even a little bit pink!

I hopped into a black cab - feeling incredibly proud of another successful show – and with a warm smile I said to the driver: “Hey, love – head down to the promenade, right?” I wanted one more swirl with the seaside breeze before leaving my glorious little beach haven – a final, glamorous touch to finish my amazing seaside trip.

Now, Hove – you have captured my pink tutu-loving heart! Pink Tutu Sparkles will be back, oh yes, I promise, sooner than you think!

So, my dearest followers, until next time, may your day be filled with sparkle, laughter and maybe, just maybe, a touch of pink tutu magic!

Lots of love (and glitter),

Pink Tutu Sparkles
