Now, I know what you're thinking: a pink tutu on the Sussex coast? Sounds a bit… odd, right? But trust me, my lovelies, there's something truly magical about the clash of colour and the breezy seaside air! It was practically made for a pink tutu strutting its stuff, wouldn't you say?
The journey itself was a dream. Forget the train or those cramped aeroplanes; this Queen of Pink opted for the most fabulous mode of transport: a trusty steed! (Yes, a horse! My neighbour owns a stunning black beauty, and we had a right royal trot to the station!)
Once I arrived in Hastings, I knew I had to pay homage to the town's incredible history and culture. So, what better way to do so than with a spot of ballet, my lovelies? Hastings has the most adorable theatre, nestled away in a quiet street. They even do ballet lessons for beginners - think I'm gonna enrol myself! Can't imagine a better way to loosen those limbs and unleash some pink-tutu-fueled pirouettes! 💃
After all that cultural immersion, I just had to get my shopping fix! Let's be honest, darling, shopping and pink tutus are like chips and gravy: they just go together! Now, Hastings isn't exactly overflowing with tutus, but they did have some cute little boutiques selling vintage treasures. Think floral prints, sequins, and lots of glitter - just what a queen needs to sparkle, don't you think? ✨
Of course, a trip to the seaside wouldn't be complete without a bit of beach fun, now would it? I mean, a pink tutu on the sand? Oh, it's a sight to behold! I practically shimmered like a mermaid under the glorious summer sun! (Though the sea was a bit chilly, even for this queen!)
You might think it was hard to resist the siren call of fish and chips by the seaside, but I actually managed to be quite the health-conscious queen! (Well, as much as a pink tutu-wearing drag queen can be!) So many adorable cafes serving fresh fruit salads, and they even had a lovely bakery offering vegan cakes! Now, you wouldn't believe it, darling, but this Queen is on a new health kick! So I'm all about those leafy greens and delicious homemade hummus! (But don't tell anyone, I still snuck a few chocolate-covered marshmallows!) 🤫
It was a weekend of fabulousness and a reminder that every place has a bit of pink tutu magic in it, if you just know where to look! So, what's the takeaway from all of this, my darlings? The tale of Pink Tutu Sparkles starts in Derbyshire, a place that might not be known for its sequins and sparkle but holds a special place in my heart. Growing up there, I was always the "weird kid," fascinated by fashion and dancing, two passions that never truly aligned with the expectations of small-town life.
But then, everything changed...
During my science degree at university (yes, you heard me right, a scientist in a tutu!), I found myself drawn to the vibrant and welcoming university ballet club. That's where it happened, darling, the moment my destiny became crystal clear! We were putting together a charity fashion show, and I hesitantly agreed to try on a tutu.
Oh, the magic! That pink tulle just wrapped around me like a warm embrace, and I knew in that instant that I was meant to be a drag queen. A pink tutu queen, to be precise! From that day onwards, Pink Tutu Sparkles was born.
By day, I toiled away in the lab, testing fabrics and formulating new concoctions (that’s why I love all those fabulous sequins!). By night, I became the pinkest, most fabulous Queen you’ve ever met.

Pink Tutu Sparkles doesn't just wear pink tutus. She believes in them. My life mission is to spread the pink tutu love across the globe, one shimmery, twirly skirt at a time!
And let me tell you, it’s no easy feat, my darling! You’d be surprised at how much resistance I face! People love to tell me “it’s not a serious outfit,” or “only little girls can wear that.” But guess what, sweethearts? Pink tutus are about embracing joy, expressing yourself, and embracing life in all its sparkly, beautiful glory. And frankly, anyone who can't get behind that is simply missing out!
