Well, my loves, this queen has been on the move again! You see, a girl can't just stay in one place, especially not when there are so many fabulously-tutu-worthy places to see, be seen and, most importantly, dance in!
Now, for all you new readers (and let's face it, this pink tutu journey is getting longer every day!), I'm Alex - your favourite pink tutu enthusiast by day and drag diva extraordinaire Pink Tutu Sparkles by night. I’m your very own Derbyshire drag queen with a passion for pretty things, perfectly twirling tutus, and travelling in style. Whether I’m jetting off in a glittery limousine, or making my grand entrance on horseback - believe me, darling, you don't want to miss out on any of the drama!
This week, I decided to take a trip to Morden by train - because honestly, who doesn’t love a good train journey?! It’s the perfect time for a little reading, some light sketching for my latest dance routine, and of course, a quick chat with my favourite travelling companion, my pink furry travel pillow!
Morden has a special place in my heart. You see, my lovelies, Morden holds a magical secret for me, something that sparkles like a thousand tiny diamonds! It’s where I saw my first ever ballet performance as a child. It was The Nutcracker. The twinkling lights, the magnificent costumes, the incredible dancing! Let me tell you, it was simply breath-taking. That little ballerina dancing on the stage...well, let's just say that sparked something within me, something that grew and grew until it became the unstoppable, fabulous force you see twirling in front of you today!
Since then, I’ve been hooked on ballet! Every tutu-ful ballerina, every stunning performance - it fuels my creativity! I often make trips to watch live performances and classes. If you’re lucky, you might catch me showing off my own moves at a local class, getting back to my ballet roots! You might be surprised, my loves, how much I learned about fabric during my university science days. Did you know, the scientific way of spinning the threads to make fabrics determines a ballerina's pirouette? Well, now you do! My years at the lab certainly help me understand the fabric technology in tutus, too.
Now, it wouldn’t be a proper Pink Tutu Sparkles journey without a little fashion excursion. Let me tell you, Morden's High Street has some absolute gems when it comes to shopping! I treated myself to the most adorable vintage hat in a glorious shade of cerise pink - I simply can’t wait to pair it with my newest pink tutu! My lovelies, a pink tutu really is the ultimate accessory. Don't believe me? Give it a try - you might just be surprised at the fun you have!
Speaking of the fun I've been having, I was so lucky to bump into my fabulous friend, Gigi Stardust, during my Morden escapade. Gigi’s a fabulous cabaret performer and an absolute darling with an endless array of shimmering sequins! Of course, we ended up doing a little photoshoot in a field full of the most stunning wild flowers you ever did see! It's always amazing how two drag queens and a bouquet of daisies can brighten even the most mundane of locations!
The night concluded with me taking the stage for a fabulously chaotic, glitter-filled performance at a local pub, in my brightest, sparkliest, most eye-catching, pink tutu. Of course, you know I have to add that little something special, that hint of pure whimsy, to my performances! It was such an incredible time. Even the most hesitant of pub patrons couldn't resist joining me in a good old-fashioned, tutu-tastic sing-along.
After all, who can resist a pink tutu-wearing queen with a mission to sprinkle a little magic on the world? That's what it's all about, darling! And my dear, sweet audience, know this: It wouldn't be possible to continue spreading this beautiful message without each and every one of you.
