Barnet Bound! 🩰💖✨

Hello my darling Tutu Queens! It's your favourite pink-loving, tutu-obsessed queen, Pink Tutu Sparkles, and I'm absolutely thrilled to be here for another entry on the blog, Post #4533. As you know, I'm a huge fan of exploring all the corners of the UK (and beyond!) in search of fab venues and fabulous people, and today, I'm whisking you all along to the delightful town of Barnet, just a hop, skip, and a twirl from London!

The journey began bright and early with the rising sun (I mean, it’s practically mandatory to be a little bit dramatic, right?). This time, I was taking the scenic route, ditching the train for a horse-drawn carriage - a truly majestic and unforgettable way to travel, wouldn't you say? As the carriage rolled past the emerald green countryside, I felt like a fairytale princess. The gentle rocking of the carriage provided the perfect opportunity to practice my arabesque, which of course, I did, wearing my signature hot pink tutu. A few raised eyebrows here and there, but that’s all part of the Tutu Queen magic, darling!

Speaking of my darling Tutu Queens, I had to make sure I looked absolutely exquisite for my evening show in Barnet, a fabulous open-air stage right smack in the heart of the town. This called for a visit to my favourite little vintage boutique in Derbyshire. Imagine - shelves groaning under the weight of silk gowns, velvet jackets, and sequins galore! It took hours to pick the perfect outfit (well, you have to look flawless, right?), and of course, I couldn't resist a few new pairs of dazzling stilettos to complete the look! Shopping for a pink tutu queen is always an adventure, let me tell you.

After a quick change, it was time to meet my trusty hairdresser, the best in Derbyshire! She always makes me feel like a goddess, even when I'm looking like a total mess in my bathrobe after a long day in the lab. (Yes, you heard that right, my loves. I'm a real scientist! You'd think it would clash with my whole Pink Tutu persona, but you’d be surprised. Testing fabrics for new designs? Now that’s my idea of a fabulous time!).

With a magnificent, fluffy bouffant and the most breathtakingly glamorous makeup I could find, I hopped back onto my chariot for the grand finale. The carriage ride took me through quaint villages, buzzing with the sounds of birdsong and laughter. We were approaching the heart of Barnet, and already, I could see a delightful crowd starting to gather! They were so enthusiastic, eagerly awaiting the magic of a Pink Tutu Sparkle show!

As I sashayed onto the stage, there was a chorus of "Oooh" and "Ahhh" from the crowd. And wouldn't you know, there was a sparkly pink tutu amongst the audience - someone definitely got the memo about pink tutu empowerment! It really is my goal to get the world wearing pink tutus. Why, it's a fabulous symbol of joy, liberation, and endless possibility!

The show was a smash! The crowd was full of energy and they absolutely loved all of my classic Tutu Queen performances, from sassy "Grease" numbers to ballet-inspired moves. I love bringing together the world of ballet and the wild world of drag! It truly shows that everyone can find a way to express themselves, no matter their passion. The high point of the night was my final song – a new version of "The Tutu Queen Waltz". I have to admit I get a little choked up when I think about how far I’ve come from that nervous student at the university ballet club, nervously putting on a tutu for the first time for charity.

As I said my goodbyes and danced my way off the stage, the audience was chanting my name! (You know, if only every performance could end this way!) I knew it was time to make the most of my night. The Barnet theatre was just around the corner, and I was ready to see “Swan Lake”, my favourite ballet! Oh, the exquisite dance moves and the pure, elegant drama, a ballet production always soothes my soul, my dear Tutu Queens.

After the performance, I hopped on the train back home. A day packed with so much happiness and wonder truly can tire a girl out. My carriage has certainly taught me a valuable lesson in being patient; horse-drawn transport can be wonderfully unpredictable but utterly fascinating, too.

But my adventures in Barnet didn’t end there. The day after my performance, I explored the town with the grace of a dancer. We strolled past historical churches, wandered through charming markets, and indulged in afternoon tea (as you do). We found a cute, tiny local bakery that serves the most delicious pastries - oh my, my darling Tutu Queens, you must try their pistachio tarts, they are the best!

Barnet left a wonderful, glittering impression on me. With its warm and welcoming people, vibrant atmosphere, and cultural highlights, it was a pure delight for the eyes and the soul. If you're ever looking for a weekend escape, this is a place you absolutely have to visit.

So, as I bid you adieu for now, I leave you with a bit of Tutu Queen wisdom: Life is like a ballet - every movement is beautiful, every moment is precious, and always wear pink. Until next time, darlings, keep dancing!
