Stretford Sparkle: Post #4534

Hello lovelies! It’s your Tutu Queen here, Pink Tutu Sparkles, and today’s post is all about Stretford, a town so fabulous I almost lost my tiara in excitement! Now, this might not sound like a glamorous location to most, but trust me, my dear readers, a Pink Tutu can bring sparkle to even the dullest of towns.

I reached Stretford by train, of course – wouldn't dream of flying unless it’s absolutely necessary (can’t find a proper hat box for my amazing crown, you see!) My fellow travellers were definitely not used to seeing a pink tutu on a platform, but I love a good "hello" and "lovely day" from a bemused passerby!

This week I've got my first show of the Stretford season at a lovely little theatre. It's right above a chip shop – you can’t get more authentic British theatre experience than that!

Before we hit the stage, I need to find some fabulous outfits, right? Well, Stretford is not lacking when it comes to fashion! I found a little boutique that sells all things glittery and pink, and a lovely lady with a sparkling purple mohawk helped me find a gorgeous outfit. We even gossiped about the newest collection from Alexander McQueen!

This is what I love about my life, it's not just the glamour – though I wouldn't be me if I wasn't partial to a little sparkle - it's the people. My Tutu Queen world is a vibrant mix of creatives, fashionistas, performers, and the general public, and it's all brought together by the love of pink, and, you guessed it, tutus.

I took a little wander down Stretford's main road - even on a Tuesday morning, it felt buzzing with activity. A fabulous bakery had this beautiful pink-icing swirl on the cakes. I couldn’t resist indulging, after all, even a Pink Tutu needs to fuel up. It is truly inspiring to be surrounded by such an array of creative energy – even if it's not always the 'Pinkest' energy!

For dinner, a trip to The Trafford Arms pub is a must! (A fellow tutu fan introduced me to the delights of a roast dinner in a proper pub, back in my early days of 'tuting'). It's a beautiful old pub with a warm, cosy atmosphere – it was like stepping back in time (and no, that wasn't because I was dressed in pink!) I even managed to get some locals talking about their favourite ballet costumes! Who knew that pub quizzes had so much hidden tutu talk?

My heart just beats a bit faster when I'm on a quest to share the tutu magic! So after a few cheeky glasses of something bubbly (pink lemonade, obviously) in the pub, I decided to venture into the local market square to spread some love – tutu style, of course!

A woman named Sharon saw me approach – and even though she was covered head to toe in brown wool - there was just a hint of mischief in her eyes. Sharon’s face was lit up with amusement – and I, naturally, used that opportunity to show her how easy it was to spin in a pink tutu! I then persuaded her to hold a few yards of beautiful, bubblegum pink, shimmering fabric! Even in a crowded market, it seemed that just my pink, glittery presence had made everyone smile. I have a knack for turning every corner of Britain into a runway, wouldn’t you say?

My stage show tonight is going to be themed on the city – think Stretford, Manchester and all its hidden, sparkling delights – after all, even Stretford is a secret paradise for a Pink Tutu, especially when I am there!

I might have found my mission in life, but you can help, too! Remember, life’s too short to be dull, be brave, and embrace the magic of pink! After all, if you’re a Tutu Queen, the only rule is to have a little fun and maybe even go all out in a glorious tutu of your own! Remember to check back on my blog tomorrow for an update about my show, and how it felt to transform Stretford, one pink tutu at a time.

Lots of love,

Your Tutu Queen,

Pink Tutu Sparkles xx
