Now, I know what you're thinking - Catford? Is that even a real place, honey? Well, let me tell you, Catford is not only real, it's brimming with character and history, and has even played host to a rather famous singer (you might have heard of him - Mick Jagger!), just saying! The local library was his old stomping ground.
As soon as I stepped off the train (it's the only way to truly appreciate the rolling countryside that leads you to this charming town) I could feel the energy buzzing. This wasn't a place to hide your fabulous self, darling, it was a town that embraces individuality! Even the pigeon strutting about in the town square was rocking a cheeky, magenta-tinted feather. And speaking of feathers, Catford boasts one of the most magnificent Feather shops in all of London, with a display so glorious, I swear I saw a sparkly fairy dusting it with magic!
After taking in the sights and sounds, it was time for me to make a splash! This week's drag performance was a charity gala hosted in a beautifully restored Victorian theatre, full of intricate detailing, and buzzing with anticipation. It was the perfect venue to show off my latest "Pink Dream" creation. The colour scheme? Naturally, you guessed it - pink, with a splash of iridescent sequins, just to make it that little bit more fabulous!
My heart soared when the audience erupted with laughter during my signature act, the "Ballet-tastic Bootleg Boogie." I danced my heart out, my tulle tutu swirling around me like a fluffy cloud, every move punctuated by the joyful whoops and applause of the crowd. The sheer joy and exhilaration I felt on stage was simply contagious, leaving the entire audience buzzing with good vibes!
But, I have to say, the highlight of my Catford journey wasn't even my performance! After my set, I went exploring the streets of Catford with a local friend, a lovely soul who runs a tiny shop filled with beautiful, hand-painted porcelain teacups. (Remember how much I love tea, darlings!). While sipping a delicious herbal brew with him, I found out that Catford was home to an amazing community theater, with a dance group specifically for adult ballet lovers. My inner ballet queen instantly shrieked in delight!
It was an invitation I simply couldn't refuse, so next week I'll be back in Catford, spinning, leaping, and twirling at the community theatre, sharing my love for ballet and embracing the energy of this wonderful, accepting town.
