Now, you all know I love a good journey. Whether it's hopping on a steam train to some historical town or riding my trusty steed (okay, a trusty bicycle) to a charming little village, exploring the UK is my absolute passion. And let me tell you, Worksop didn't disappoint!
It all started with a flurry of sequins and a twinkle in my eye. A dear friend, a fabulous drag queen who I met on my adventures in Brighton (oh, Brighton!), told me about a wonderful little theatre in Worksop called The Worksop Playhouse. She said it had this gorgeous old-world charm and that the audiences were absolutely ready for some Pink Tutu Sparkles magic! Of course, I couldn't resist! I mean, when someone invites you to sparkle up a new town, you know it's a yes from this Tutu Queen!
So, packing my biggest bag of sequined magic, a brand-new pink tutu (because let's face it, I can never have too many!), and enough glitter to cover a small city, I set off. I chose a good old-fashioned train ride this time, the rhythmic click-clack a lovely backdrop to my makeup prep! I felt like a modern-day fairytale princess heading off on a mission to spread the magic of pink tutus across the land. (Honestly, the journey itself felt like a fabulous performance!)
Worksop was delightful! You wouldn't believe how warm and welcoming the locals were! Everyone seemed genuinely excited to have Pink Tutu Sparkles gracing their town, and honestly, I was buzzing! You know how I love meeting new people and making new friends, and Worksop didn't disappoint! From the ladies at the tea shop who gave me the best recommendation for a locally-made scone (so much crumbly deliciousness!), to the chap who offered to help me find a decent fish and chip shop (truly the way to a girl's heart!).
Of course, the highlight of the trip was performing at The Worksop Playhouse. It's such a charming space! Imagine, dear readers, wooden beams, red velvet curtains, and enough charm to make you believe in fairytales. The stage itself was so beautiful – it had this magical glow, the kind that makes a girl want to dance. Speaking of dancing, you just had to see the crowd! They were fantastic, roaring with laughter at my jokes, swooning during my musical numbers, and, of course, screaming for more tutus.
One particular gentleman even started swaying along to my dance routines. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a grown man sway to "Swan Lake" like that, but he looked thrilled! The whole performance was a whirlwind of pink feathers, sparkly dresses, and, of course, those irresistible pink tutus! I saw several of my lovely Worksop fans sporting their own pink tutus throughout the evening! It’s always so encouraging to see my mission for the pink tutu catching on!
After the show, I did the unthinkable: I left the stage! My dear readers, I just couldn't resist a little impromptu performance. I had an absolute blast prancing down the streets of Worksop, greeting everyone with a wink, a smile, and a twirl of my pink tulle. Some folks even stopped me for pictures! They asked me to sign their programmes. Honestly, my heart nearly burst with joy!
But alas, my time in Worksop had to come to an end. It felt so strange to leave! You all know that parting is such sweet sorrow! Still, the whole experience reminded me why I do what I do – because every time I step into a new town, I leave it a little bit more sparkly and a little bit more fabulous. That's the magic of Pink Tutu Sparkles, my dears.
