Hello gorgeous peeps! Itās your fabulous Pink Tutu Sparkles, and I am positively THRILLED to be in Rotherham today for a spectacular show! You can find me here every day this week, bringing all the pink sparkly glitz and glamour, and as you all know, every single day, here at www.pink-tutu.com I write about my exciting travels, and my ever-growing passion for everything pink tutu! So today's blog post number 4692, takes us right to the heart of Rotherham...where the crowds are roaring and my tulle is absolutely bouncing!
Getting to Rotherham was a bit of a dream, if you ask me. Of course, being the sophisticated queen I am, I opted for the ultimate luxury of train travel. It is a proper romantic way to travel and it meant that I could glam up before arriving! Let me tell you, darling, even when travelling, itās all about that confidence boost! The first time I ever went on a train, was a real āoh, what is life!ā kind of moment...but it was a bit different for a little Alex - I couldnāt wear a tutu! So it makes my heart soar now being able to take a journey that gets me closer to another fabulous gig. I mean, that train ride, it just whisked me off into a land of fantasy, a symphony of pastel colours, sparkling reflections, and a whiff of possibility in the airā¦and I truly love the journey as much as the destination.
Rotherham has welcomed me with open arms, or rather, with open hearts. As I walked onto the bustling scene today, I couldnāt help but smile, my fabulous pink tutu swirling with a grace as exquisite as the swirling stories that Rotherham has to tell.
Speaking of which, darling! Before the show, I had a blast at the local fair, embracing the spirit of community and having a laugh with all the people! I may not have rode the Big Wheel in my tutu, but I certainly entertained all the curious souls there! They had some scrumptious candy floss, too, and the bright pinks reminded me just why I wear my fabulous pink tutu! You see, there's a bit of magic to the fair. It is full of wonder! And I think that feeling of excitement about the unknown, just like getting to perform somewhere new...that is the same magic that draws people in, and helps me get more people to wear a pink tutu...oh, and how I adore the simple, bright joy of it all! It reminds me to celebrate the simple pleasures of life - candy floss, sunshine, the colours, the funā¦and it really is as simple as that.
And then I, of course, had to find a cute local tea shop for my pre-show rituals! This one, with it's chintz and flowery wallpaper... reminded me of my Nan's dining room and just filled me up with this lovely energy! Oh, I donāt think any queen should go anywhere without a delightful, heartwarming brew. It fuels the sparkle within, yāknow?
Finally, the time came for my big moment! A truly wonderful audience! Oh my, Rotherham! You truly do embrace fabulousness with such passion. A real treat! I danced and twirled with all my heart and every last stitch of this beautiful pink tutu. My stage presence was shining so bright, and those cheers from the crowdā¦it gave me goosebumps, my dears. Thereās truly no greater feeling than to be on stage, pouring your heart into each movement, your soul into each twirl!
I simply LOVE these kinds of gigs! My job as a Drag Queen? It's really about the connection. This stage, it's my little space where I share the wonder of glitter, sparkles and of course, that delicious pink tutu. Every night, I have this opportunity to shine a light on something joyous...I can literally paint the town with that Pink Tutu magic!
You know, all of this just gets me thinking about my very first pink tutu experience...
And before we go further...howās my hair, loves? Because let's be real, this magnificent mane deserves a good chat too! Weāre talking fabulous volumizing techniquesā¦and a shade of blonde that could illuminate an entire stage! Itās not just hair; itās a work of art, honey. I always say that āmore hair equals more fabulous,ā and we canāt ever have too much, my dear readers!
So, back to those days way, way back in uniā¦remember the lovely days when I was studying for a science degree... I mean who would ever guess, right?! My friends, they all looked at me funny when they found out I studied something as dull as the structure of matter. Science?! Alex was a little lost when he went to Uni.
But this all changed, when the ballet club at Uni had this little fundraiser. You wouldnāt believe it, but one of the prizes was this big pile of dresses... I found this very particular tutu tucked in the pile, this beautifully worn tutu... you wouldn't believe how lucky I was that it came in a perfect shade of pink! I mean, I thought it was an opportunity for Alex, not to just help out, but to give her life a new spin, so to say. And then my eyes fell on that soft pink tutu and a spark ignited. It's funny to think back, I remember going to my first performance of The Nutcracker. Then wearing this dusty pink tutu from my first charity fundraiser...that first show, and I literally became Pink Tutu Sparkles! Who could imagine this is what science led to?! But that tutuā¦It set me on a course of glitz, glam, and twirling that, frankly, no chemical reaction could ever replicate! And it all starts with a simple pink tutu, darlings. You can wear any kind of dressā¦ You can dress in a way that makes you happy...you are all superstars! And maybe it wonāt turn your life upside down like it did for me... but remember - it all starts with just a little step... or a little twirl.
The thing about life... it's all about trying on different roles, finding your inner sparkle... and really celebrating your unique charm... So maybe it won't make you famous or give you a glamorous career, but if you've ever considered trying on a pink tutu...donāt even think about it! Just go do it! Because pink tutus are more than just costumes, they are a reflection of self-love, a commitment to the art of feeling your best, a tiny step on the journey of finding your spark.
You just have to do what feels goodā¦and find your inner Pink Tutu Sparkles. You got this.
