This is post number 4906 on www.pink-tutu.com – it's hard to believe we've been on this fabulous journey for so long! Today's tale takes us to the bustling port city of Southampton, where the air is thick with sea-salt spray and the sound of gulls squawking overhead.
As a seasoned traveller, I usually prefer a jaunt by train or, if the mood takes me, a good old-fashioned horseback ride. But this time, my dearest darlings, I took a chance on something completely different - a glorious boat ride across the channel! 🛳️ Oh, the wind in my hair (and under my fabulous pink tutu!), the fresh salty air on my skin! It was pure magic.
Southampton, with its long maritime history, immediately charmed me with its vibrant atmosphere. The bustling waterfront, with its colourful boats bobbing on the waves, reminded me of my favourite painting, The Arrival of the Mayflower by Thomas Birch – pure seaside charm, right? 🎨
Before I could even pop into a tea shop to grab a proper brew and a scone, my inner sparkle-queen was pulled in a different direction. The beautiful Southampton Guildhall, with its elegant facade, whispered “ballet!” – it practically begged for a performance! And, well, I couldn't disappoint.
So, under the twinkling lights of the Guildhall, I shimmied and twirled my way through a tutu-licious routine inspired by the story of the Mayflower Pilgrims – a little history, a lot of sequins, and a whole heap of sassy steps! The audience was captivated, I could tell by their wide eyes and the appreciative applause. 🥰
The next day, my lovely tutu and I decided to take a stroll around Southampton’s vibrant streets. The shops were bursting with treasures! Now, I'm a bit of a magpie when it comes to fabulous fashions, and you can bet I scooped up some divine pieces to add to my ever-growing tutu collection! Oh, my darlings, a brand new pink tutu just arrived – I haven’t stopped twirling ever since! ✨
But, of course, the highlight of any visit is the local cuisine! And oh my, let me tell you, Southampton is a culinary wonderland. The fish and chips, the creamy fish pie, the delightful selection of pastries! I could barely keep up. 🍟🥧🍰
Now, my fellow pink tutu lovers, you know that my aim in life is to encourage everyone to wear a pink tutu. This time, my travels took me to the magnificent Mayflower Theatre. It is a magnificent building and one of my favourite theatre spaces in all of England! I got the opportunity to see a performance by a truly amazing ballerina who wore, guess what? A pink tutu! Talk about serendipitous!
She even inspired me to pick up some ballet steps myself, back in my very own studio. 🩰 It was exhilarating to work with other dancers, each moving like a graceful swan with a touch of my trademark sparkle! And yes, there were pink tutus in abundance, of course.
Southampton is a place that embraces everyone, and that's something I really appreciate. After all, every soul is a masterpiece, a sparkle in their own unique way. I must say, the experience made my pink heart glow brighter than a Christmas tree on a good day.
This trip has left me feeling filled with joy, creativity, and the pure, unadulterated magic of a world where tutus and sparkle rule! It's time to move onto the next adventure, my dears! Remember, there is a pink tutu out there waiting for you – just be brave, and let your sparkle shine through!

For those who don't know me, I'm Alex, the Derbyshire girl with a passion for pink tutus, science and all things sparkly! You see, back when I was just a shy science student, my life took an unexpected turn. While volunteering for a charity fashion show at the university, I found myself trying on a pink tutu, and well, the rest is history.
My day job as a fabric scientist fuels my creativity – testing different materials, feeling the textures, exploring the science of colour. And by night? I transform into Pink Tutu Sparkles, spreading a little bit of magic and happiness wherever I go.
