As a true pink-tutu enthusiast, I absolutely had to come and see the vibrant arts scene here in Croydon. The energy was electric, just like the bright lights that illuminate this incredible town.
Oh my, let me tell you, it’s a fabulous day to be a tutu queen. Even the weather is in my pinkest mood, a glorious blue sky peeking through fluffy white clouds. ☀️
Today’s journey began bright and early, you know how much I love to start the day with a breakfast of champions – champagne and croissants!🥂🥐
But let’s be real, the real excitement started when I stepped onto the train platform, with my fabulously feathered headpiece and this delightful hot pink tutu I picked up at a charity shop yesterday! (Such a steal!) 🤫
Train Travels to Twinkletown
The train journey to Croydon was quite a delight. You see, I don’t travel like other queens - no limo rides for me, darlings. I'm all about that romantic train carriage charm, it’s just the most delightful way to take in the scenery! Especially when you have a good playlist blasting through those trusty vintage earphones. My current fave is “Bohemian Rhapsody” – you simply can’t go wrong! I even had a friendly old chap opposite me complimenting my pink tulle as “gorgeous”! 👴💖
Of course, no Pink Tutu Sparkle journey is complete without a quick change into my travel costume – you’ll never catch me in a normal, boring outfit! 😉 I swapped my tutu for my new leopard-print jacket with fabulous floral details that were perfect for an afternoon exploring this enchanting town!
The Beauty of the Ballet
Now, as you know, I’m completely head-over-heels in love with all things ballet! I practically lived in a ballet studio during my uni days, you know, back when I was Alex, that shy, awkward science student. (Those were definitely the days of black trousers and t-shirts! No glitter or frills, you see. It's amazing how life can change in a pink tutu.) I discovered drag thanks to that fantastic university ballet club – it was just so much fun wearing a tutu for the charity fundraiser.
One thing led to another, and the rest, as they say, is history! ✨
After arriving in Croydon, I did what I do best - headed straight to the town’s amazing theatre! I could barely contain myself when I saw the ornate details on the building. It looked straight out of a storybook, so absolutely breathtaking. And then, the music. I was blown away by the delicate sounds of the strings and the captivating grace of the dancers, simply majestic! There is something incredibly magical about seeing the dancers come to life on the stage! They are like living, breathing works of art, and the colours, costumes, and music are a true testament to the sheer power of beauty.
Afterwards, I bumped into this wonderful group of ladies – some real Croydon belles in dazzling ball gowns and bright colours, you wouldn’t believe the glamour! They were just thrilled to see Pink Tutu Sparkles, and we spent the rest of the evening chatting, sipping cocktails, and discussing our love for the ballet. It's funny how one pink tutu can start a whole new conversation, eh?
Tutulicious Treat Time!
Croydon, what a feast for the senses, you really have my stomach and my heart dancing! 💃
But honestly, darlings, we can't talk about Croydon without talking about its fantastic shopping! 🛍️
You see, this pink tutu queen has got a weakness for a bit of retail therapy, especially when it comes to discovering new boutiques and charming independent shops. And oh boy, did Croydon deliver! It's just packed with gems that make every shopping lover's heart beat a little faster. The windows were overflowing with beautiful pieces, and every corner held another exciting treasure just waiting to be found. It felt like stepping into a world where imagination takes flight.
From delicate floral patterns to sassy animal prints, there's something to set every outfit ablaze, and, you guessed it, lots and lots of pink! 💗
And then, the food! 🤤

I know what you're thinking - "Isn’t it all about the food?" and honestly, darling, you’re not wrong! I treated myself to some exquisite finger food with friends in one of the trendy cafes – delicious and so, so, cute!
It wasn't just the taste buds, though – I am swooning over these cute little coffee shops and independent restaurants all around the town, each offering their own little slice of delightful charm. I couldn’t resist getting my hands on some gorgeous, pink cakes – just another essential detail in a Pink Tutu Sparkle’s day. I must admit, the deliciousness was beyond anything I had imagined! This pink tutu is a very happy one! 💖🧁
A Croydon Fashion Dream
Talking about my beloved tutus – you can’t deny it, the entire Croydon experience has truly been a pink tutu paradise! This town, like me, embraces color, flair, and above all, personality.
Oh, did I tell you I stumbled upon this amazing vintage shop on the edge of the town, crammed full of glamorous outfits? I knew it would be perfect for a future drag performance! And yes, of course, you know it - they even had a lovely, sparkly pink tutu waiting for me in the corner, as if it was destiny. ✨💖
It is no wonder that I felt an irresistible pull to come and explore the captivating Croydon scene. There is truly something here for everyone, even a queen in pink!
