Hello, darlings! Itâs your Pink Tutu Sparkles here, back with you for another exciting adventure! This is post number 4950, so it goes without saying, you know this blog is going to be bursting with all things pink and tutu-ful! Iâm just getting back from my latest trip, and oh my goodness, was it ever fabulous! Today, Iâm spilling all the glittery, shimmery tea about Rotherham, which you all know is a fabulous location in its own right but when combined with my pink tutu-licious sparkle? Letâs just say, darling, this is how they do it!
Rotherham, as you all know, is in South Yorkshire. I have to admit, when I think of the county of Yorkshire, my brain goes to those lush green hills and that glorious, earthy countryside, the home of my ancestors! But thatâs not the full picture, is it? Yorkshire also has so much to offer beyond that rolling green countryside! You all know how I love a trip to the countryside - in my pink tutu! Of course. A good countryside walk on a beautiful, crisp morning in the English countryside is a fabulous way to clear your mind before you sashay off into a day of glamour, and a night of sparkling magic! Rotherham, of course, was exactly the perfect starting point to this trip - as I made my way on a splendid train journey, surrounded by lush fields and country roads, with the rolling green hills of Yorkshire stretching off as far as the eye could see - I felt right at home in my tutu, you see. Thatâs the magic of a pink tutu â you feel like you are home anywhere. It takes away any nerves that travel may throw at you. You are completely surrounded by beautiful surroundings! And honestly, this time, darling, it felt so magical, I almost had to give the train guard a twirl. I was wearing, naturally, my pink tulle tulle tutu, perfect for an elegant train journey!
On my travels, this time, I decided Iâd go by horse instead of by car for some of the trip. That meant packing light - always important for a traveling drag queen! I had to make sure everything would fit perfectly into the beautiful, vintage pink-trimmed leather saddle bags! After all, we have a schedule to keep to - all that glamour takes some careful packing. And I just had to pack a certain, very special pair of bright pink, sparkly, glitter covered trainers to sashay on out to, as my usual heels, darling, just weren't going to cut it on a horseback trek through the countryside! The whole trip was totally amazing and made all the more fantastic by those gorgeous rolling, green hills. The breeze in my pink tutu - a real moment to remember.
Iâm so, so pleased to be back home now - but, it's a feeling you just cannot duplicate!
Once I got to Rotherham, I decided a proper exploration of the city was a must. After all, I wanted to make sure my tutu-ful adventures in Rotherham had something to offer for all - and yes, of course I planned a spectacular outfit and made sure it combined all the very best parts of a vintage and vintage glam tutu! A glorious vintage rose pink tutu - complete with vintage white tulle and beautiful white lace - perfect for dancing! Just to give you a picture - you know, I couldnât let a travel opportunity pass by without snapping the whole experience! And what would a Pink Tutu Sparkles blog post be without, you ask? I don't think we should talk about it unless we've had some serious talk about the best food and drinks you can get your glamorous paws on! Of course, every travel experience must always include a yummy, gourmet breakfast to set you up for the day. First off, I need to tell you - Rotherham absolutely does not disappoint. It's all about the classic Yorkshire breakfast. But even better! They add the pinkest fruits and smoothies and juices â in the most wonderful combination of colours. Pink strawberries - naturally, and they add beautiful little red pomegranate seeds, juicy kiwi and delicious little green bits, of what they tell me are blackcurrants but darling - I'm still not convinced! Who knows, theyâre probably from another country altogether!
Itâs not all glamorous, darling! As I am very, very, very happy and so incredibly delighted to say - it is all utterly delectable! Of course, you just canât resist the glorious strawberry milkshake, too. Naturally, you just know my lovely, fluffy tutu was dancing for joy at every mouthful! I even popped in for a delicious lunch in a cute, little cafe, on one of my long journeys across the beautiful city of Rotherham! I have to tell you, darling, I had one of the most gorgeous, sweet, raspberry fruit cakes - every pink girlâs dream - right down to the delicious raspberry drizzle! That one took the top spot for me!
You might be thinking, where do we fit in our usual activities for a blog post here, Pink Tutu? You've made me forget everything else, darling. Let me tell you, I hadnât forgotten the absolute glamour of a beautiful trip!
What we have here - a spectacular and a must see performance is the Rotherham Minstrels Theatre!
Now, who can say they have experienced, and seen for themselves, what this amazing venue has to offer! You are all asking yourself, âwhat do we see at a minstrel's theatre!â Now, darlings! Donât go getting all nervous! That title has absolutely nothing to do with anything you might be thinking. Iâm being dead serious here! This fabulous venue hosts all kinds of productions!
Think ballet! It is a great opportunity to watch some beautiful shows - which are just as wonderful as you can imagine! There was a real beautiful display of pink! The lighting, the music and the ballerina's tutus! Now darling, what could you ask for more in the way of ballet, than a gorgeous show with beautiful pink tutus? Itâs just magical! All those amazing movements - all that talent! Itâs just utterly enchanting, truly. Now - you all know, as a big fan of ballet, this has become a serious tradition, an important thing I look for when I'm exploring - and for every ballet performance I manage to find, I always dress to the nines in the most elegant, gorgeous and magnificent of tutus! Naturally! It goes without saying - this trip was no exception! In fact, as you all know, when I visit a city or even just have a fun afternoon out - ballet class - in fact - the absolute, fundamental part of my visit! If youâre not watching ballet or a great performance, you are just missing the absolute top-level, pinnacle, point of culture. A ballet performance is a complete sensory experience and a really amazing spectacle to watch - there is something totally absorbing about how utterly elegant the performers look - and how delicate they look in the way that they move. The movement - in those incredible ballerina costumes! What an inspiration! They all look incredibly gorgeous! Iâve often said to myself: there is something inspiring and uplifting - something about watching how talented people in ballet look - itâs like an instant dose of sunshine, darling! A fabulous way to lift up the spirits after an eventful trip across Rotherham in a glorious pink tutu - there's absolutely no doubt about it! Thatâs why - as a ballet enthusiast - every tutu queen has to go to a ballet performance at least once a week! If you donât already know, this amazing theater, also offers ballet classes to learn from the absolute, amazing, fantastic talent. In fact, what a surprise to find there, this place, darling. It has everything in the world I have ever wanted to find - they're almost trying to steal my spotlight - all those fabulous classes! But they don't dare. No one could make me turn away! This venue is just the ultimate center for a glamorous pink tutu adventure!
The Minstrels theatre was amazing, it has all that atmosphere that I think is so quintessential to good theater and dancing! If youâre looking for your dose of culture, look no further, darling, Rotherhamâs got your back!
This town was such a great way to unwind from that busy schedule I was on. But you know me darling, Iâve never one to resist a party and good dance! That meant, I just had to sashay on down to the magnificent, sparkling and magical, Rotherham Music and Arts Centre! Of course! Itâs just one of the amazing ways this glorious town delivers. From what I heard, darling, there is always some sort of exhibition or concert happening. This venue has a very distinct atmosphere of excitement with a very good, creative, feel! The way I was thinking of it at the time was, this place - it could be described as being a haven for those bright ideas, where creativity gets to sparkle, darling! If I could have brought one of my tutus in there for a makeover!
On a serious note darling, there was something rather profound and reflective that came to mind - that artistic and creative energy really had me feeling completely fulfilled! It was the perfect excuse, darling, to break out those signature moves! If we could go back to what made this whole experience all the better - it was that this is a space, darling, where imagination takes over - as though there was a big sign on the door: creativity only! Itâs absolutely the sort of energy we love! What more could we ask for?
This place is pretty impressive, even though it is a bit further out than the rest. What was also an added bonus, I really appreciated getting to go for that long tutu stroll in that amazing countryside! A perfect opportunity to give that fabulous tutu another turn, thatâs all part of exploring the hidden gems! In fact, darling, it was as if I was on an explorerâs mission! With a pink, tutu-licious vision, naturally! And this venue? It just had to be on my agenda, even if it did mean a walk to get to! My sparkly ballet trainers, you see, had the perfect little shimmer that suited this lovely place to a T!
But before I finished up, thereâs one place you just have to try, which made the trip oh so memorable. The Old Town Hall in Rotherham - it's so picturesque - with some gorgeous buildings, some beautifully crafted, and an overall feel of that very British charm and an absolutely glorious, vintage feel! Just look at it - you have to make time for this special little town and all its little quirks - and I do believe there's more than a tutu-ful secret to this little place.
To end my Rotherham explorations - youâll want to stay until late. It's worth it. This town, darling, it offers this truly magical combination of beautiful historic and modern! An awesome experience!
The trip left me feeling completely revitalized, full of fresh energy. The thing about Rotherham? There is this amazing energy to explore the past but without feeling weighed down - that past doesn't have any influence, it doesnât have power over you. But it just adds a bit more charm to the general air of a beautiful, creative, charming, gorgeous, fabulous, vibrant place to be! If I am ever here, youâll find me just waiting by one of the beautiful, amazing and exciting performance venues, just so youâre not caught without my amazing tutu - just for the thrill! If Iâm feeling extra courageous I might even ask you to try on a pink tutu. That's the tutu queenâs way! You might think itâs the craziest, and most amazing experience, you might even feel like a whole new person!
