This is blog post number 4951 and I am so excited to share my recent travels with you! Today's post is from the City of Light, or as we say in English, "Lyon, oh Lyon!"
This stunning city was a perfect backdrop for my latest tutu adventures. Let me tell you, honey, this city knows how to do chic! From the moment I stepped off the train, I was mesmerized by the elegant architecture, the charming cobbled streets, and the incredible food. This French city was absolutely bursting with a fashion and artistry that left me wanting to live there. And of course, I got to put on my finest pink tutu and take a walk through it all, like the fabulous princess that I am!
Remember that gorgeous fuchsia pink tulle I got in a vintage store in Milan last month? It just screamed out to be seen. And darling, Lyon didn't disappoint! We strolled down the Rue de la RĂ©publique, took a tour of the Basilica of Notre-Dame, and even made a visit to the FourviĂšre Hill - that breathtaking view, simply breath-taking!
And oh, darling! You'll never believe this, but I found the most fabulous antique shop near the Place des Terreaux, a veritable treasure trove! They had the most adorable tutu - just the right shade of blush pink - for a bargain, oh darling! Itâs absolutely perfect for my upcoming performance at the FĂȘte de la Musique next week. I already have the song picked out: âTwinkle Twinkle Little Star!â My favourite song - such fun! Iâm working on a fun and colourful, ballet-inspired routine to go with it!
But first, itâs time for tea and cakes, darling! Let me tell you, French pastries are definitely on the top of my list for lifeâs little joys! And when youâre a drag queen, a bit of indulgence is the key! A good tutu is essential, and itâs no secret I love to get the best out of life! The food here in Lyon was simply divine - every bite a feast for the senses! So good! But let's get back to tutus and how fabulous everything was!
Did I tell you, darlings, that I met the sweetest old lady who owns a shop filled with vintage dance wear? She was absolutely smitten with my pink tulle and, well, who can resist a tutu? Turns out, she was a retired ballet dancer! Oh, the stories! And she let me try on all her beautiful tutus from decades gone by! What an absolute gem of a woman, and of course Iâve ordered a couple for my collection!

Remember my days as Alex, back in Derbyshire, studying biochemistry? Oh darling, you would never guess! Who would have thought a pink tutu obsessed drag queen could be a lab rat at a university! I spent a good couple of years testing the chemical composition of fabrics for different applications. Fascinating work!
But it was at the university ballet club where everything changed! We had a fundraising evening for charity and it was suggested that I wear a tutu for the performance! Remember how I was telling you that pink tutus make you happy, I didnât actually start wearing them before then! My university club wanted to use a pink tutu to add colour to the dance routine. Honestly, my dear, itâs probably the most random event Iâve ever experienced! It felt so natural for me to be in it. And guess what? My first pink tutu came with a feather boa â can you believe it! Oh, the things a charity event can inspire you to do. And after a quick spin on the stage, my whole life changed forever. Well, it was only a matter of time before I started taking classes, finding my stage name, and embracing a world where sequins and feather boas reign supreme! Now I spend my days with colourful fabrics, albeit in a totally different way! Pink tutus and scientific breakthroughs, they both excite me! I love wearing pink and sequins, I think theyâre both glamorous! I love seeing those vibrant colours against a neutral background. So glamorous! It makes you feel special and unique.
