Scunthorpe Sparkle! Post #4977

Hello my darlings! It's Pink Tutu Sparkles, back with another whirlwind adventure, this time from the steel city of Scunthorpe!

I can’t believe this is post number 4977! My blog journey started just over three years ago and it's been absolutely fabulous, taking me from the cobbled streets of Derby to dazzling stages across the country, and beyond! And each adventure, each performance, each fabulous tutu makes me so grateful for every single one of you who reads, loves, and shares my posts. It wouldn’t be half as sparkly without you!

This week, I decided to travel in style, trading my usual train for a ride in a horse-drawn carriage, courtesy of a lovely farmer near the town of Market Rasen. Now, if anyone asks, riding a horse is much less embarrassing than falling out of the carriage – luckily, that didn't happen, thanks to my tutu keeping me securely in my seat.

The journey to Scunthorpe was full of excitement and, of course, a lot of pink! The farmer had kindly adorned his trusty steeds with pink ribbons and, as the sun streamed down, the carriage resembled a very glamorous carriage out of a fairytale!

When I arrived in Scunthorpe, I couldn't help but feel a surge of excitement. The town had a certain gritty charm, with industrial buildings towering against the bright summer sky. It was a world away from the bright lights of the West End stage, but for me, that's the beauty of travelling. It's about discovering new places, experiencing new things, and embracing every single moment in all its messy, delightful glory.

As the sun began to set, casting a warm glow on the town, I made my way to the bustling town centre to scope out my stage for the evening – The Old Vic Theatre, a venue with a long history of hosting incredible performances, from touring plays to the occasional burlesque show! Oh, how I love to mix it up, from the grand stage to the cozy pubs, the little independent stores, and everything in between!

And the show, oh the show! Scunthorpe was just what the doctor ordered for some seriously good sparkly vibes! The audience was amazing, their energy was incredible, and the whole night felt like one big pink tutu party!

The highlight of the night? Well, I have to confess, it was during the final song when I noticed a young girl in the front row wearing a pale pink tutu. It was quite a sight to see and she was the sweetest thing, her face lit up with such pure joy. You could practically hear her glitter!

Moments like these are what it’s all about, right? Making others feel confident, fabulous, and, of course, spreading the pink tutu gospel! My dream? To see everyone wearing pink tutus, expressing themselves freely, and embracing their inner sparkle!

And what would any Pink Tutu Sparkle trip be without a little bit of shopping?

I wandered around Scunthorpe's market, looking for the perfect souvenir and, let me tell you, the locals are so friendly, which is not surprising given their charming Scunthorpe dialect - it’s *brilliant for finding the best hidden gem in the shops! And, lucky for me, it also turned out to be a hotbed for fabulous vintage finds, including a beautifully embroidered lavender-coloured satin hat for a bargain price. And for the real prize of the day: a pink vintage brooch of a flamingo dancing on one leg – perfect for adding a touch of pink flamingo sparkle to my stage costume.

While browsing the market, I had to stop at a local tea room for some freshly-made scones, clotted cream, and jam. You have to appreciate the simplicity of traditional afternoon tea with a side of sunshine on a beautiful summer day! Of course, I couldn’t resist buying myself a pot of their special pink rhubarb and custard jam for a real taste of Scunthorpe to take back with me to Derby.

As I boarded my carriage the next morning, I looked back on the bustling town, with a feeling of deep gratitude. Thank you Scunthorpe, for embracing my glitter, my twirling, and most importantly, for letting me be myself. You’ve earned a spot on the map of Pink Tutu Sparkles favourite travel spots!

The road to sharing pink tutus with the world might be long and sparkly, but I wouldn't have it any other way. Until next time, stay sparkly and embrace your inner pink tutu, my dears!

Love,
