Hello my darlings! Pink Tutu Sparkles here, your favourite pink-loving, tutu-wearing drag queen, back with another exciting blog post, this time all about my recent adventures in the lovely, vibrant town of East Kilbride!
I love the feeling of anticipation, that electric buzz that starts bubbling up inside me the day before any journey. It's all part of the fun! But I confess, my excitement levels were extra high this time around. I don't know about you, darlings, but the combination of pink tutus and travelling just sends me into orbit! And the train journey to East Kilbride was nothing short of magical!
Now, you all know I’m a girl who loves a good train journey. It’s the perfect opportunity for me to relax, people-watch (there's always a fabulous outfit on display in these parts!), catch up on my favourite gossip mags, and even knock out a few paragraphs of this here blog. I also have to mention the wonderful tea trolleys they have on these journeys. A hot cuppa with a delicate pink biscotti? Pure perfection!
The ride was a dream, and soon enough, East Kilbride’s beautiful landscapes rolled into view. I couldn't wait to explore!
Pink Tutu in the City: Shopping and Spotting Fabulous Outfits
The moment I stepped off the train, I felt that special East Kilbride energy buzzing. I love that energy! This town, like my heart, is overflowing with joy, colour and good vibes. Of course, no Pink Tutu Sparkles adventure would be complete without a little shopping, and East Kilbride did not disappoint! I found the most amazing vintage store tucked away down a side street. It was a rainbow explosion of clothes, and, to my utter delight, a gorgeous collection of second-hand tutus! They all needed a bit of TLC, but the colours and fabrics - darling! It was a collector's dream, and my pockets were feeling a little lighter, but my heart? Filled with joy and sparkly fabric!
Then there was a fabulous vintage clothing shop where I found a silk scarf emblazoned with pink flamingos, simply divine! I also picked up a beautiful hand-stitched floral headband for one of my shows, and some sparkling pink eyeshadow for extra dazzling eye magic! I've never left East Kilbride without a few gorgeous shopping treasures tucked in my handbag. It's an unspoken rule I follow whenever I'm in the city.
Dance Magic: Ballet, Ballet Street and More Pink Tutus
Of course, a trip to East Kilbride couldn't be complete without a visit to their stunning Arts Centre, which housed an incredible ballet school and an impressive performance theatre! The moment I walked through the doors, I knew it was a place filled with dreams. The air hummed with the sounds of beautiful music, and I spotted a class full of youngsters doing a barre stretch – just darling! I took my chance to strike up a conversation with the school's principal and got to chat about my love for ballet, sharing tips for encouraging young performers, and naturally, how vital it is to incorporate pink tutus in every routine! She was a lovely lady, and we discussed how to empower young ballerinas, reminding them of their inner Sparkle and reminding them that every journey starts with a step!
Speaking of steps, darling, they were hosting a wonderful showcase of "ballet street" dancers – I mean, the energy in that space was electric! So many young performers, filled with passion and confidence. Each step, each leap was filled with joy and raw talent, and their tutus - a beautiful spectrum of vibrant colours – looked amazing under the stage lights! I took to the stage myself afterwards and delivered a fabulous, fun routine featuring my trusty pink tutu. It was pure magic, a kaleidoscope of sparkly pink fun! The energy from the audience was absolutely amazing. My heart swelled with joy, especially seeing the faces of the little ones lighting up with delight. They truly inspire me!
I made sure I snagged some local, artisan-made pink macarons afterwards, a delicious little reward for my busy, vibrant day.
A Pink Tutu Adventure Continues...
As always, my adventure in East Kilbride was a blast. The town's vibrancy, the friendly locals, the dazzling arts scene and all the amazing outfits I spotted made it one of my favourite destinations. But you know what, darling? The most important thing? I got to spread the love of pink tutus. It's the best part of my job - bringing joy, sparkle, and confidence to people wherever I go, and knowing I’m part of a movement, a global movement, inspiring people to dance, embrace colour, and wear their tutus with pride!
