This little trip was an absolute whirlwind of colour, creativity, and joy, and I'm dying to spill the beans on every single detail, just for you.
Now, let's be honest, Feltham isn't exactly known as a hub for drag. wink But when I heard whispers of a lovely little theatre putting on a vintage variety show, I knew it was a chance I couldn't miss. Besides, who can say no to a night of glitz, glamour, and laughter? I simply couldn't!
I got to Feltham the good old fashioned way, with a splash of vintage glamour of course! I always do, wherever possible. You see, darling, there's just something so charming about hopping onto a train with my carefully packed tutu bag, suitcase overflowing with fabulous frocks and glitter. There’s nothing like catching up on the gossip magazines with a cup of Earl Grey while watching the countryside zoom past. Pure bliss.
But before I could grace the stage with my sparkle-tastic presence, there were outfits to be picked, and darling, that's my favourite part! With a morning's light, I was digging through my closet. This is always an absolute treat; a joyous occasion where I choose an outfit that suits the venue and my mood. My vintage boudoir, brimming with all sorts of glorious finery, held many potential candidates, but a sweet little cherry red silk dress with a dazzling pink boa just felt like a match made in heaven. This is all topped with a fab pink tutu and my crown, which, for Feltham, was a gloriously vibrant lilac with diamantés. Let's face it, it just felt right!
Arriving at the venue, a charming little theatre that whispered of past glories and grand performances, I was welcomed with open arms. The air hummed with excitement as I entered the bustling backstage area, filled with fellow performers and an aura of theatrical magic. Everyone seemed so friendly, so excited for the evening, and my inner queen just about burst with anticipation. Honestly, I was just enthralled, lost in the magical world of theatre that Feltham brought to life!
Of course, I couldn't resist showcasing my own brand of Pink Tutu magic. My act involved a jazzy rendition of a song that really had the crowd up on their feet. You see, I like to choose songs everyone knows, it’s easier for them to join in. There’s nothing like a bit of fun.
After the curtain fell and the applause died down, I had the most lovely chat with the theatre manager. We talked about everything under the sun, from the joy of live performances to the magic of ballet. It truly felt like a whirlwind of joy, filled with good cheer, warm laughter, and a shared appreciation for all things theatrical. The joy in her face made my heart burst!
Of course, a visit to Feltham couldn’t be complete without some exploration. So, the next day, with a skip and a twirl, I set off to explore the charming town centre. Imagine my surprise when I discovered a shop called ‘Pink Feathers’. It was fate, darling! Just imagine the possibilities! Not just my favourite colours, feathers to add to my stage outfits!
The shop was brimming with the most enchanting feathers – fluffy, iridescent, and simply spectacular. I picked up a few feathery delights for my next big performance. A plummeting plunge into a wonderland of textures and colours that had me gasping with delight! Oh darling, the pink was to die for.
This visit to Feltham reminded me why I adore traveling the country. The magic of live performances, the delightful chance encounters with passionate artists and audiences, the hidden gems in towns across the UK, it's all part of the vibrant tapestry that is my journey as Pink Tutu Sparkles.
