Hello, darlings! It's your favourite Pink Tutu Queen, ready to spill the tea on a dazzling trip to the heart of Yorkshire! Buckle up, because this post is bursting with colour, glitz, and… you guessed it, tutus! 😉
As always, your girl's been on the move! And guess how I travelled this time? No, not the train! (Although, who can say no to a first-class carriage and a good old chinwag with a fellow tutu enthusiast? whispers It's happened… trust me.) This time, I was graced by the presence of the most magnificent, noble steed… a horse! It was just glorious! He was such a darling. A real gent! sniffs So elegant, with a soft velvet coat that would make a princess jealous!
Oh my! Where was I? Ah, yes, Castleford! The air is thick with laughter, the locals are charming, and the excitement is practically tingling in the air. This time, your Pink Tutu Queen had the incredible opportunity to be part of the town's annual The Big Bash! This event is a haven for those who appreciate the finer things in life - like, say, dazzling performances, delectable street food, and yes, gasp, the most fabulous costumes you've ever laid eyes on! I mean, where else can you see a unicorn juggling apples and wearing a pink tutu? This is where, my darlings! This is where.
And of course, my pink tutu was ready to shine! Oh, let me tell you, it was a showstopper! I had visions of dancing fairies in the moonlight while choosing it! With layers and layers of pink tulle and enough glitter to blind the sun, it was a masterpiece of sheer joy and girly glory! I paired it with a sparkly silver top, and some dazzling butterfly wings - it was practically Pink-tastic!
The Big Bash was a whirlwind of colours, smiles, and laughter. It truly had the vibe of a great family day out - something for everyone! But, my favourite moment was when I hopped on stage and felt that familiar magic: the roar of the crowd, the flash of the lights, the thrill of the performance. It's a feeling I'm utterly hooked on. I performed "Born this Way" by Lady Gaga in a show stopping, sassy, pink tutu version and the crowd went absolutely wild! They were on their feet, whooping and hollering, and some even started trying to recreate my iconic pink tutu poses. Oh, the joy!
Of course, the highlight of the day was the parade. You can't talk about a Big Bash without mentioning it! Hundreds upon hundreds of people flooded the streets, all decked out in colourful attire and ready to celebrate. It was pure joy and a glorious celebration of community spirit.
While I was walking, I got to chat with the lovely people of Castleford! So warm and friendly, and the perfect embodiment of British spirit! They were eager to chat, compliment my outfit (my darling, those comments about my "fabulous pink tutu" are etched forever in my heart!), and take pictures with yours truly. It was the sweetest moment! And I truly felt like a princess in a pink paradise!
Of course, any outing to a new town wouldn't be complete without some serious sightseeing! Now, I may love to dance and twirl in tutus, but even a queen needs a break sometimes!
First on the agenda was the mighty Castleford Castle! Standing tall and proud, with history whispering through its walls, the Castle felt like a relic from a bygone era, and I found myself imagining knights and damsels dancing in its shadow (although, obviously in pink tutus, right?). It's absolutely magnificent - imagine those photo ops!
Next, we ventured into the heart of Castleford's bustling town centre, a mix of modern and traditional shops, charming cafes, and that delicious "olde worlde" charm. I found myself drawn to a beautiful vintage clothing shop. Filled with silk and satin, my inner-fashionista screamed "YES!"
Now, let's talk about food! As a performer, a queen's gotta keep her energy up! This means filling my tummy with plenty of yummy delights! From classic fish and chips to mouthwatering pies and sweet treats, Castleford truly has a sweet spot when it comes to yummy treats. But what I love most, is that everyone is happy to chat about their food, swap tips and tell me their favourite place in Castleford to grab a bite!
In all honesty, Castleford exceeded all my expectations! This little gem has something special going for it - a community brimming with kindness, a history that resonates in every brick, and, of course, an enthusiasm for life that's impossible to resist.
And just when you thought the trip couldn't get any more amazing… I found a tutu store!! You know my weakness - tutus. It's like walking into Willy Wonka's factory! And guess what? The owner gave me a pink tutu as a gift! This darling girl didn't even blink an eye at my sparkles!
