Today, I ventured out of the comfy confines of my Derbyshire home and took the train (all aboard!) to the wonderful town of Ilkeston! A delightful day trip filled with tutus, twirls, and a whole lot of pink, as is always the case with this travelling drag queen. 💕
As a huge lover of all things tutu and ballet (and let's be honest, a big fan of pink!), the chance to visit Ilkeston and soak up its vibrant culture was an absolute must! Ilkeston is known for its strong artistic heart and I was dying to discover its gems. I even planned a whole outfit for the day around the pink hues I'd imagined gracing the town! 🤩
After a super comfy train journey (train journeys always allow me time for some much-needed primping and admiring myself in the reflection!), I found myself on Ilkeston High Street. Let me tell you, what a fabulous start to my day! There was an energy buzzing through the streets and it felt like there were so many secret delights hiding in every corner. And yes, my inner ballerina felt completely at home in this lively atmosphere! 💃
One thing that immediately struck me about Ilkeston was its strong sense of community. Everywhere I looked, people were chatting, sharing laughs, and enjoying their day. This infectious energy just fuelled my own desire to connect and have some fun! So, I did what I do best, I put on a fabulously pink show! And I was thrilled when so many lovely people on the high street joined in the dancing fun! It really warmed my heart! 💗
One of the highlights of my day was a delightful lunch at a quaint café called The Tea Room. With pastel-pink floral wallpaper and a selection of sandwiches that would make even the Queen envious (sandwiches are my weakness, I'll admit it!), this was the perfect spot for a break between my grand adventure. The tea itself was just perfect. Honestly, tea just isn't tea without a generous dash of pink! 🌸
I spent the afternoon soaking in Ilkeston's art scene. First, I went to the fascinating Ilkeston Museum. What a delightful treasure trove! I even got a picture in front of one of their classic, timeless works of art - a vintage ballerina print. It felt incredibly fitting. Of course, the dress I chose for this visit to the museum was a gloriously frilled, tiered pink tulle number! So appropriate, right?! 💖
My artistic journey continued at Ilkeston's beautiful Town Hall. The grand architecture, its intricate design and beautiful craftsmanship really had me captivated. I love how older buildings seem to tell stories. My brain started reeling with all the wonderful ballet scenes I could imagine on this fabulous stage! 💖
In the evening, my love of the performing arts drew me to The Regal Cinema. This historic venue had so much personality and character! And it just wouldn't have been right to miss a performance! Now, as much as I adore ballet, I just had to indulge in a bit of live theatre! What better place to experience a fabulously funny comedy? The performance had me roaring with laughter and feeling just so happy! 💕
Throughout the whole day, I made sure to share my pink-tutu love by inspiring the locals to embrace their inner tutu queen! From friendly shopkeepers to passersby, everyone seemed thrilled with the colourful spark! 💫 Some even attempted a few twirls with me, which was utterly fabulous! 🤩 And let's be honest, everyone looks and feels better in a tutu, right?
All in all, my day in Ilkeston was a true treat for the senses, a delightful escapade full of laughter, music, culture, and an overflowing sprinkle of pink! I can't wait to come back and explore more of this amazing town. 💖
