Hello darlings! It’s your favourite pink-loving, tutu-wearing queen, Pink Tutu Sparkles, back with another blog post! 💅✨ Today, we're whisking you away on a dazzling day trip to Didcot, a little gem of a town that surprised me with its charm. And yes, of course, we’re bringing along the essential ingredient for any fabulous day out – my beloved pink tutu!
As always, my trusty steed carried me to the station (let's face it, who needs the tube when you have a fabulous frock and a majestic horse?) and it was a beautiful journey to Didcot. Didcot station was abuzz with life and even managed to get some fabulous light reflecting off my sparkly, pink tutu! Just a little fashion tip, darlings: don’t forget your sunglasses to enhance the sparkle!
From the station, a jaunty cab ride later and I found myself right in the heart of Didcot – ready to explore this delightful town with a smile and a swish of my pink tutu. The cobbled streets were teeming with delightful boutiques (more shopping for my tutu collection, hooray!) and the shops boasted beautiful displays of autumnal colours, a beautiful change from my favourite colour! And the people! The people were absolutely wonderful, friendly and delighted to see my tutu in all its glorious glory. You know, some folks just love to spread sunshine with their smiles and fabulous outfits!
Didcot’s real magic was revealed, however, at The Cornerstone, a stunning theatre and arts venue that welcomed me with open arms and an even wider smile. Let’s face it, nothing beats a show – whether it’s a ballet or theatre performance. That afternoon, Didcot’s talented local performers took to the stage and absolutely knocked my sparkly pink socks off! From comedic routines that left me howling with laughter to dramatic monologues that touched my very core, the talent at The Cornerstone was simply phenomenal.
And my dear friends, what is a fabulous outing without a touch of ballet? I was utterly captivated by Didcot Ballet, who gracefully pirouetted and leaped across the stage in a mesmerizing performance that left me yearning for another pirouette myself. The artistry and elegance of these dancers truly inspired me, reminding me that a twirl in a pink tutu can take us all to new and exciting places – both on stage and in life!
A touch of vintage indulgence came with a cup of tea and a delectable cake at The Old Bookshop. What better way to end the afternoon, than in a haven for literary wonders! I just love to find the little independent stores when travelling - you never know what you’re going to find. In my quest for perfect pink tutu material, the hunt continues!
So, there you have it, darlings! Didcot - a town full of surprising delights, charming people and a touch of magic. And the most important thing? Well, you knew it - the perfect place to twirl in my pink tutu!

A Little About My Day Job
You know, some people think it’s an odd combination: a science-minded woman by day and a fabulous pink tutu queen by night! I can tell you, the truth is – it's the most wonderful combo of all!
While my life in the lab may seem far removed from the glittering world of drag, it's actually surprisingly similar! Just like the delicate fabric samples I test each day, each new tutu needs careful consideration, testing, and of course – lots of sparkle! It’s like, my lab coats and tutus go together perfectly, they are two sides of the same beautiful coin!
Honestly, there’s not a huge difference between carefully analysing a piece of silk and carefully constructing a new pink tutu design. But what truly motivates me? It's about taking these skills and blending them into a unique creation – one that empowers, inspires and ultimately, lets people experience the sheer joy of dressing up. You see, each shimmering fabric I select, each feather I attach to my tutu – it's about finding the perfect harmony between the scientific precision of my day job and the artistic passion that fuels my drag performances. It’s my mission in life, to inspire a tutu-rific revolution one fabulous twirl at a time!
