Hello, darling darlings! It’s your favourite pink tutu-clad, travelling drag queen, Pink Tutu Sparkles, back with another whirlwind blog post for you all. Today's journey finds me in the delightful, historic city of Salisbury - oh, the cathedral! I can almost hear the angels singing, it's just THAT fabulous!
As always, I arrive in style - well, as much as you can arrive in style when travelling by horse. (Yes, darling, I know what you're thinking! Horses are far more glamorous than those cramped little trains.) A handsome stallion pulled my very own custom-made pink carriage (just a teeny tiny pink carriage for me, obviously!), complete with tulle-draped curtains and my personal collection of pink pom-poms strategically placed for maximum whimsy! 😉
This week’s performances have been a true delight, darling! A rather lovely market on Saturday filled with fresh produce and artisanal crafts. (And I was able to squeeze in some delicious, fluffy pink-frosted cupcakes, too!). 🧁 And then on Sunday, I did my usual crowd-pleasing act in the local community hall, ending with a spectacular display of - wait for it - pink glitter. 😉 You can never have too much pink glitter, I always say.
But before we get into all that, let me tell you about this fabulous outfit! Today I'm rocking my signature hot pink tutu with a cascading cascade of shimmery silver fabric. I mean, you simply MUST shine in Salisbury, right? To complete the look, a cherry red, feather-trimmed bustier and bright red, glitter-embellished heels. (It was so nice to walk on solid ground, after that dusty carriage ride, lol!) I paired this dazzling combo with some sparkling gold earrings shaped like little pink stars - just for a touch of magic, darlings! 💖 ✨
Now, you may be wondering about my origins - the Pink Tutu story! (I am so proud of this tale). Let’s flashback to the dark, pre-tutu days. Imagine if you will, a fresh-faced, enthusiastic scientist – that's me, Alex! (My scientific mind helps me design the most amazing drag looks, trust me!) During my days at university (we’re talking way before this dazzling drag career blossomed), I got caught up in the campus ballet club – pure joy, darling! During a fundraiser event, the president dared me to wear a tutu, a fluffy, bright pink, fabulous one. 💃 Oh my, my darling. It was a revelation! From that moment, everything changed. The tutu opened up my world! It ignited something inside me, something wild and free, something truly magical! And so Pink Tutu Sparkles was born. ✨
(That little detour was just for you lovely ladies and gentlemen. 😉 It's always great to reconnect with my roots!)
Oh, and the cherry on top of the delicious, glittery, tulle-covered cake of this journey, darlings? This very weekend, Salisbury’s having their annual, “Salisbury Ballet Under The Stars” event. A whole weekend dedicated to the beauty, grace, and wonder of ballet, with all sorts of performances - ballet on the beach, classical ballet performances, and, of course, the famous, oh so sparkly, "Salisbury Under The Stars" competition! 💃🌟
(It's safe to say, my friends, you just know Pink Tutu Sparkles has her eye on the prize.) 😉
I am just bursting with excitement! Think, darlings, think of the glamour. The swirling tulle! The incredible grace and energy of all those beautiful dancers! The applause of the crowd, oh, it's enough to make me… 🎶 (Ahem! That would be me getting lost in my dreams again, darlings). 🎤
Well, let’s get back to the fun, fabulous happenings here in Salisbury. Now, this little town’s got so much character! A rich history, those ancient buildings, it really takes me back, back to that historical, fairytale land where tutus are as common as shoes. (And one day, darling, it will be like that!) 😉
What’s really got me smitten though is the amazing array of shops, darling! I found the most divine shop overflowing with fluffy tulle fabric - all different colours, including pink, obviously! And I’ve already made a date to return next week, to make some extra-special tutu creations just for this town! 😉
For this town, dear reader, has embraced me! Every little shop I enter, it’s a whirl of “ooh! and “ahh!” and “fabulous!” - they just love me! They love the pink! And guess what? People have even started taking selfies with me in my pink tutu! It's just lovely seeing everyone enjoy my sparkle and share my vision. ✨💖 I think I may be convincing Salisbury that everyone needs a pink tutu, even just a tiny little pink ribbon around their ankles - every little bit of pink is a win in my eyes, darling! 😉
And speaking of tiny bits of pink - did you see the beautiful pink cherry blossom tree outside the cathedral? I have never seen a tree that looks like it came out of a dream! It’s like a scene from a magical fairytale - just as elegant and magical as any ballerina’s grace, and I just had to have my picture taken underneath it! 🩰👑
I've been taking in the historical sites - Salisbury cathedral is so stunningly beautiful. (It's a wonder I got my show done with all that visual inspiration around!). The city has such a vibrant culture! So many artsy little places, even found a gorgeous shop full of theatrical props - just the thing to add that extra zing to my drag show! (I already know what to add to my repertoire for next month!).
Speaking of zing - have you heard of “Ballet Street”? This incredible dance fusion form combines the classic beauty of ballet with hip hop moves! I just love seeing how ballet is evolving! It's amazing to see so much creative energy bursting forth! So naturally, darlings, Pink Tutu Sparkles will be gracing a ballet street dance performance for your entertainment at my next show. 🕺🩰
As I get ready to sign off, I'll be whisked away by that handsome stallion (or rather, my trusty, slightly overworked, and very tired driver - oh those horses are so high maintenance! I might be giving those little cramped trains another chance for the next journey!), back to the world of science (don’t worry darlings, I’ll only be designing that bright, beautiful, sparkling, tulle fabric. I think it might just be my most sparkly creation yet! ) . 🔬✨
