It’s the perfect place to put on a fabulous frock, twirl around and let your inner sparkle shine! And let me tell you, my outfit was nothing short of a masterpiece! Think flowing pink tulle, adorned with shimmering sequins, and a sassy feathered boa. Yes, my darlings, I was truly living my best tutu-clad life. 🤩
How to Get There
Now, let's talk travel, because that's something I take quite seriously. This time I opted for a scenic train ride, a beautiful way to soak in the changing scenery. Plus, a train carriage gives you the perfect opportunity to strike a few impromptu poses - think me, perched on a seat with a sparkling tiara, gazing dreamily out the window! The sheer delight of a rail journey really makes the entire trip more glamorous. 🥰 You know, some folks love to take cruises, but for me, a glamorous train journey is the ultimate mode of transport.
Performing with the North Shields Performers
Arriving in North Shields was a breath of fresh air. The vibrant atmosphere was contagious, the people were friendly and welcoming, and the place just exuded charm! This little town welcomed me with open arms. That night, I took to the stage at The Pier - an iconic spot, darling, overlooking the sea, where I gave it my all in my dazzling routine! I danced, I pranced, I even managed to twirl in a rather impressive 360° spin without a single mishap! The audience went wild! 😄 This North Shields crowd, they really know how to have a good time! 💖
I have to tell you, though, the highlight of my performance wasn't just the cheers and applause, but meeting a sweet family that had come all the way from the highlands. It's these little moments of human connection, of sharing joy and laughter, that truly make my drag performances worthwhile. They made my day, darling, and made my pink tutu shine just that little bit brighter! ✨
Shop, Dine & Dance
The following day was dedicated to exploration and soaking up the vibrant atmosphere of North Shields. We hit the high street and I went on a major shopping spree - the shops are an absolute treasure trove of vintage gems and unique treasures! Imagine this, dearie: my dressing room filled with dazzling earrings, statement necklaces, and the most glamorous fascinators I've ever seen. Now that's what I call a girl's dream! 😍
Speaking of dreams, we dined at a charming little seafood restaurant with a breathtaking view of the harbour. Picture me, sipping on a strawberry margarita (my absolute favorite!) and tucking into the most delicious lobster bisque. Honestly, the experience was so quintessentially English. A dash of glamour, a pinch of seaside charm, and a good dollop of delicious food. This was one for the books! ✨
Dancing in the North Shields Street Dance Extravaganza
One of the things I really wanted to experience in North Shields was the town’s street dance extravaganza. Oh, darling, you wouldn’t believe the talent! Local dance troupes put on dazzling shows with such intricate moves and vibrant costumes, it took my breath away. And, of course, yours truly couldn't miss the opportunity to join in the fun. Imagine this: me, right there on stage, showing off some serious moves. Ballet street, darling, right in the heart of North Shields! 🤩
I know, some people might think street dancing isn't a girly enough activity. But honey, if you've ever seen the sheer artistry, the dedication, and the pure energy of these performers, you'd know it's the perfect combination of beauty, strength, and self-expression. It’s basically a drag queen’s playground. 😉
My Biggest Love: Ballet Class
No trip is complete without a little ballet class! The sheer elegance, the grace, the beauty of ballet…it's just mesmerizing! Now, dearie, I don't mean I'm a ballerina in the conventional sense - I might be in my pink tutu, but let's be real, my ballet skills are best described as 'enthusiastic'! But that doesn’t matter one bit, right? Ballet is all about self-expression, letting go, and enjoying every pirouette and plie! The class I attended was small, friendly and totally welcoming. And as an added bonus, it was in a beautiful, airy studio overlooking the harbor. How fabulous is that?!
