Hitchin! Pink Tutu Travels, Blog Post #5362

Hello darlings, and welcome back to www.pink-tutu.com, where it's always a pink party! Today I'm bringing you a fabulous chronicle from my recent travels to the charming town of Hitchin, and trust me, it was utterly delightful! As a little girl I dreamt of travelling the world by train, but nowadays it's far easier to hitch a ride in a stylish cab and take the tube. Let me tell you, darling, a girl needs to stay glamorous on the move. It's hard to look your best when you're crammed into a packed carriage full of commuters, but my tutu kept my spirits high - even with the inevitable shoe shuffle going on around me!

Speaking of shoes, this week I had a real shoe crisis! A shoe emergency, if you will. You know that sinking feeling when you get a run in your stockings and a big rip in your favourite tutu all on the same day? It's a drama! But, darling, we had to go to the theatre in Hitchin, so on we went, shoes and all.

Hitchin is such a charming little town! We were headed to the theatre for a very special performance – an absolutely glorious rendition of Swan Lake by the Hitchin Ballet Society. Those graceful ballerinas, darling, so elegant and so precise, really know how to wear a tutu, wouldn't you agree?

Now, you might be thinking, “Why is Pink Tutu Sparkles going to a ballet performance?” You see, darling, I'm quite passionate about ballet. I was already quite into it when I was a student studying science. Ballet and tutus have a very special place in my heart. As a young, bright-eyed student, I was invited to help out with the university’s charity ballet performance. To give you some context, I was doing my Master’s degree in Polymer Science, which, funnily enough, is a very tutu-relevant subject - think fabrics and fibres and things.

One of the university’s big charity fundraising events was their annual “Ballet for Life” and the student team decided to raise awareness and money by setting up a ‘try on’ booth with an array of dazzling tutus – both short and long! I was just doing my thing, wearing my trusty lab coat, analysing fibres under a microscope and testing tensile strengths. The thought of becoming Pink Tutu Sparkles had only just popped into my mind (inspired, of course, by a particularly vibrant pink tulle that had caught my eye!). My fellow labmates (the lovely science-minded team who would, at some point, see me don a glittering pink tutu, let’s face it, that was just waiting to happen), decided that for a small fee I’d become a pink, pouffy spectacle in front of the university for everyone to admire! That’s when, oh darling, the seed of becoming Pink Tutu Sparkles really began to blossom.

Back to the ballet in Hitchin! It was an amazing experience, especially for me, seeing all the beautiful ladies flitting around in their colourful, fluttering costumes, dancing their hearts out, just like my inner-ballerina always wanted to. Ballet's a wonderful art form, darling, it really brings so much joy to the soul. And, the most important part, all the ballerinas were absolutely delighted to see a Pink Tutu in their midst! It was so wonderful to hear them chat about tutus and tights, to see the genuine wonder and joy that filled their eyes – a real tutu-themed community! The whole experience reminded me of why I love ballet so much.

Speaking of love, I must tell you about this fab vintage shop in Hitchin that I stumbled upon, the day after the ballet, called ‘Darling Delights’. Inside, oh my darling, you wouldn't believe what a treat it was – beautiful clothes, handbags, shoes, jewellery - everything you could possibly dream of, a true Aladdin's Cave for fashionable ladies like me! I bought the most wonderful vintage floral frock in the prettiest shades of pink and red – it's perfect for a summer garden party. Oh, darling, do you ever go to garden parties? I always dress to the nines – sometimes I even take my full pink tutu-ed stage outfit and create a show of my own!

I’ve always been quite a country gal at heart. Back home in Derbyshire, the countryside calls to me! In fact, my last travel adventures included a little trek across the peaks of Derbyshire – by horse, of course! There’s something so romantic about horseback riding! You get to feel the wind in your hair and the sun on your face, the ground rushing by beneath you and, of course, a perfect opportunity to strut my stuff in my most glamorous outfit – all whilst remaining very dignified!

If there’s one thing I truly love, it’s horses, apart from tutus of course. Nothing makes my heart sing more than hearing the gentle clip clop of hooves on a crisp morning, or the feeling of pure exhilaration when I gallop across the fields. And, when I get to don my beautiful pink tutu while riding my trusted steed, there’s really nothing more magical than that! But you already know that, darling, don't you! You are reading my blog, and after all these years, I am certain you know that the pink tutu is my very essence, my passion, my life! I’ve been striving to share this message with all of you - be fabulous, be brave, and don’t be afraid to sparkle, all in a gloriously pink tutu!

And as I look forward to my next exciting travels, I leave you with one thought – wear pink. And, you guessed it! Wear a pink tutu! There are no boundaries for a pink-loving soul. The world is your stage and you, darling, are my star. Until next time, darlings!

Your Pink Tutu Sparkles,

Alex
