Hornchurch Calling! 💖🩰👑

Helloooo darlings! It’s your fabulous Tutu Queen, Pink Tutu Sparkles, and welcome to blog post number 5521! ✨ Can you believe we’re already halfway through February? It’s absolutely flown by!

Well, after the amazing time I had in Brighton last week, I couldn’t resist a little trip up to the glorious city of London – and even more gloriously, Hornchurch!

This place just had my name on it, my darlings, as you know I simply love my theatres and getting out to see all the fabulous street performances – and even more fabulously, seeing ballet, oh my!

This particular little jaunt came about because a lovely chap by the name of Bob emailed me asking if I would consider doing a small show at their little pub, the “Jolly Brewer”. He mentioned that they’d never had a drag act before but they loved the idea and thought it would be a big hit. Well, how could I refuse?

Bob, if you're reading this, you truly are a lovely chap, and the pub was adorable, even down to its little courtyard and garden with the most charming, bright pink flowers - very Pink Tutu Sparkles, if I do say so myself! 💅

This whole experience really had me sparkling all day! The pub had lovely staff and I absolutely adored the crowd - I mean, there's nothing quite like having a big bunch of lovely folks really going crazy for your sparkly show and tutus. It's all about having fun and sharing a love of the colourful things in life.

Ballet, Bikes, and Boots!

This lovely, little, picturesque trip to Hornchurch was such an escape from the usual lab routine back in Derbyshire, where you can often find me testing fabrics, by the way! My other life! Ahem. 🙈 It’s a secret for now. Well, let’s be honest, you’ve probably worked out by now that Alex (aka Pink Tutu Sparkles) is a "bit" obsessed with fabrics – I'm a scientist, darlings, remember? I just LOVE experimenting, mixing colours, and figuring out just the right blend to make the most fabulous tutus you’ve ever seen. My own are certainly not from a shop. They’re bespoke, hand-made, one-of-a-kind, and always guaranteed to spark some fun! 😉

I always make sure to pack for any event, whether it's a trip to the theatre, a pub show, a walk around town or ...a trip on my favourite mode of transport - yes, darlings, I travel by bike. Well, that's what my inner child wants and we both know, you always need to have a little fun and let your inner child out for some adventures. 🚲

You’ll always find me sporting a stunning, brightly-coloured, fabulously-fluffy tutu – and when you’re in London you need comfy footwear – oh my, those cobbled streets! This trip was certainly not lacking in that department! I went for my signature sparkling boots - just had to add a little extra sparkle to make it extra fabulous!

My shopping haul is still looking glorious in my dressing room back home, full of vibrant pink satin ribbons, glittering rhinestones, and, of course, an extra sparkly tulle or two for some just-in-case alterations! 🪡

A Night at the Theatre

You’ve got to appreciate a little thee-ah-tr-e when you’re in London, right? So naturally, a ballet was on the agenda, darlings, especially a "Swan Lake". How could I possibly resist the graceful swans, the romantic story, and the exquisite music? 🦢

Of course, the ballet didn’t disappoint. As you’d expect from this iconic ballet, it was both moving and mesmerizing, transporting me straight back to my younger self when I used to prance around the studio in a pink tutu at the university ballet club, dreaming of being a swan in “Swan Lake”. Ahem, I think there might even be a little tutu photo-shoot on the university grounds in our yearbook. Cough, cough. 🩰

Speaking of ballet, I simply had to check out this darling dance shop nearby - you can just imagine, every single item was pink – pink shoes, pink leotards, pink tights, you name it, and all sparkling! Of course, I did a bit of a tutu-licious shopping spree!

The shop also had these darling ballet classes on offer and let me tell you - you’re never too old for ballet! Just take a look at all those prima ballerinas like Margot Fonteyn, Dame Alicia Markova, and Margot Fokine – all so amazing, still twirling and turning! This shop reminded me to live life to the fullest! It truly was magical and my toes are aching beautifully this week as I’ve already had a go myself! 💖

Finding My Sparkles

That weekend just about summed up life as Pink Tutu Sparkles.

For me, life’s about wearing that gorgeous pink tutu every day, taking every opportunity to dance and spark some joy for yourself, and for others, and spreading a little love wherever you go, whatever you do. Just like a beautiful ballerina performing gracefully on stage!

Whether you’re at the ballet, or dancing down the street to a favorite song – wear that tutu with pride! Remember that sparkle - that little bit of extra something, whether that’s confidence, creativity, or just a smile.

Don't be afraid to dance, to sparkle, to twirl. You know you want to!

Now, if you’ll excuse me darlings, I have a fabulous performance booked at the "Pink & Blue Pub" in York tomorrow - I wouldn't miss it for the world! 💖👑

Stay sparkling!
