Leith, You’re a Peach! (Post 5559)

Hello, lovelies! Your girl, Pink Tutu Sparkles, is back with another post - this time straight from the heart of Leith! Yes, I'm finally here, having arrived on a glorious journey by train. It was a smooth, comfy ride - my darling tutu and I enjoyed a bit of reading and a few cheeky, but sophisticated, gin and tonics. After all, we’re on a holiday, so who cares about rules, right?

Remember that feeling of utter excitement when you’re just moments away from a destination you’ve been yearning for? It’s like butterflies have moved in to your chest and started tap-dancing. And my butterflies were doing a double-time jitterbug because, honestly, Leith is the type of place that gives me all the feels.

As soon as I stepped off the train and onto those charming cobblestone streets, I could just feel the creative energy buzzing in the air. Not to mention, I spotted a whole load of interesting shops crammed with tempting treats and vintage treasures. I couldn't help myself, I popped into a little curio store with the most whimsical name - The Enchanted Trinket Box - and came away with a teeny, tiny, shimmering pink feather boa. Just think of the outfit possibilities!

Speaking of outfits, darlings, you wouldn’t believe what I saw today! A troupe of dancers, absolutely killing it on the street with their own incredible routines. It felt like a glimpse into the future of ballet! The girls, all in matching pastel pink leotards with a twist of sparkly flair, reminded me of my university days, when I discovered the world of tutus…

Do you know the story, my dears? How a certain Derbyshire scientist, who dreamed of testing textiles to find the softest, fluffiest materials, stumbled into the magnificent world of ballet? It all happened on a crisp, autumnal afternoon in the university ballet club’s rehearsal room. A charity event, a dare from my best friend, and a few twirls later, I was hooked. A pink, glittery tutu was my entry ticket into the shimmering world of dance, a world that spoke to the pink tutu-loving queen hidden within!

But back to my Edinburgh adventure, lovelies. As dusk settled in, I took a stroll by the iconic pier - my, what a spectacular view of the twinkling skyline! And who should be sitting by the pier, enjoying a scoop of that oh-so-delicious homemade ice cream, but my pal, Miss Tilly Tickles. The moment I saw her with her electric blue tutu and shimmering emerald earrings, I knew this was going to be an unforgettable night!

And wouldn’t you know, my darlings, I was lucky enough to have landed a last-minute slot at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. It was pure serendipity - just a few phone calls and a quick flurry of glitter. Let’s just say, my pink tutu made quite the entrance. And, if I may boast a little, it was an absolutely divine performance. They even played my favourite ballet music. My dancing, my sparkle, my oh-so-fabulous tutu – we absolutely brought the house down.

But, the best part of my trip, my dears? It was the people. From the warm and friendly local artists and performers to the locals with their stories and the kindness they showed this pink tutu-clad queen, every moment was sprinkled with magic. I just can't help but feel that Leith is a place where dreams come true - where art meets life, and everyone is just a little bit more free.

I truly believe that everyone should experience the joy of dancing in a tutu. Whether it's at a theatre performance, a ballet class, or just in your living room, it’s a fantastic way to release your inner ballerina.

So, if you're planning your next trip, do consider visiting the lovely Leith. It's a beautiful town filled with history, charm, and creative vibes, just like you!

Now, I must be off. It’s time for a late-night stroll along the docks and a farewell cuddle with my beautiful pink tutu. Stay tuned, my lovelies, for the next instalment of my Pink Tutu Adventures. There’s always something new to see, discover, and sprinkle with a little glitter!

Much love,

Pink Tutu Sparkles xx
