Great Yarmouth! Tutu-rific Time on the Coast (Blog Post #5594)

Hello darlings! Your favourite pink tutu-wearing drag queen, Pink Tutu Sparkles, is back with a brand new blog post, fresh from a dazzling weekend in Great Yarmouth!

I'm just about settled in after a long journey from Derbyshire - you know how it is, darlings, sometimes you've got to take a train to get to the really good places. It might not be as glamorous as galloping into town on a sparkly unicorn, but it sure does the job! And hey, you can't beat the view from the carriage window, right? I had a fabulous time spotting the changing landscapes whizz by and doing a spot of people-watching in my pinkest outfit, of course. (I'll be honest, my bright pink fluffy hat was probably the only splash of colour on the train, which made me extra happy.)

Tutus and Tiaras on the Seaside!

Great Yarmouth was the perfect destination for a girly getaway. From the iconic pier and golden sands to the vibrant street market stalls and historic seafront, it’s a place that knows how to make you smile. And it was buzzing!

As soon as I arrived, the atmosphere was electric. People were out and about enjoying the sunshine and I was welcomed with open arms. The local businesses were all so excited about my arrival and I saw loads of "Pink Tutu Sparkles is here!" posters plastered around the shops.

For a pink-tutu-loving drag queen, Great Yarmouth was a veritable dream! Think boutiques full of sparkles and sequins, vibrant street markets overflowing with colourful clothing, and tea rooms that would make any Marie Antoinette proud! Oh, and did I mention the sheer quantity of fish and chips shops?

A Night to Remember: Sparkle and Glitter Under the Pier!

Friday night, darlings, was absolutely divine. It started off with a grand stroll down the pier, catching a refreshing sea breeze. Let's just say it felt good to let my long train skirt trail in the air! My performance spot was underneath the iconic Great Yarmouth Pier, a truly magical location that was lit up in a symphony of dazzling neon lights. The stage was just the right size for my dazzling, pirouette-packed routine.

Let me tell you, darlings, I brought my A-game to the stage! We're talking dazzling tutus, flamboyant feather boas, and plenty of sparkle and glitter - I’d planned every sequin and shimmer! My dancing was on point, and my performance was full of fabulous fun and energy.

Honestly, the crowd went wild! I had everyone dancing and laughing along - even a few grandmas got caught up in the tutu-fied frenzy. They had never seen anything like me, they said! One of the biggest compliments I got was when one young girl told her Mum she wanted to wear a pink tutu every day. That's what I'm talking about!

A Spot of Retail Therapy and A Very Pink Tea Party

After the show, my inner girly-girl took over and I couldn't resist a little retail therapy! First stop: a charming antique shop tucked away on a cobbled street. I snagged a magnificent pink feather boa - absolutely perfect for my next show - and a stunning hand-painted mirror in the shape of a swan. Talk about a true vintage find!

Next, it was time to relax and enjoy a spot of high tea in a lovely little tearoom. You can bet I had a pink cake, a pink cup of tea and even a pink strawberry milkshake. It was pink-tastic!

From the Beach to the Theatre

My weekend was packed with fun things to see and do. Saturday morning I joined a "Tutu-fied" beach clean-up - with pink tutus, obviously - where I was joined by locals who were thrilled to have their day brightened by some tutu-tastic cheer. The sand felt lovely under my tutu, but I’m not going to lie, darlings, those seashells could be a little tricky!

Later on that day, I caught a performance at the Grand Theatre. This majestic venue truly lived up to its name. The production was "The Nutcracker," a ballet favourite, and I must confess I even dabbed at a tear or two when Clara finally got her Nutcracker Prince!

And on Sunday, I indulged my love of all things twirly by taking a ballet class. A little light exercise to loosen up those legs and, let’s be honest, some serious outfit planning! (Spoiler alert: a pink tulle tutu was my chosen outfit!). The class was a perfect end to a magnificent trip.

To the World, from Derbyshire!

Great Yarmouth truly is a delightful little corner of the world! From the friendly people to the dazzling beaches and charming streets, I fell completely in love with its vibrant atmosphere. It was the perfect venue for a drag queen with a love of sparkle and a heart of gold. I even met a very charming baker who said they’d let me decorate his window for his upcoming wedding (we’re discussing a cake that’s actually a giant pink tutu - imagine it, darlings! )

But remember, darlings, life is not all sunshine and seaside fun.

While you're rocking a pink tutu and having fun, don't forget to spread some love and kindness. Make someone’s day by handing out a pink cupcake. Help an old lady cross the road. Let's bring the spirit of Great Yarmouth - fun, friendly and tutu-ific - everywhere we go! Because the world needs more love, laughter and…yes, you guessed it... more pink tutus!

Stay tuned, darlings! I’ve got my eyes on my next destination, and I have a hunch it's going to be just as spectacular as Great Yarmouth! Until then, keep on shining your fabulous selves.
