Now, Rainham! Such a delightful town, full of warmth and a touch of that good ol’ British eccentricity that I adore. I arrived in style, of course, on a little jaunty train journey, with my trusty trolley packed full of shimmering sequined costumes. After all, you can never be too prepared, right?
Speaking of sequined costumes, you guys won’t believe what happened today! I was strolling down the bustling high street in my new pink tutu - oh, it was a beauty, all soft tulle and iridescent sequins. You know, one of those tutus that make you feel like you could fly? 💫 And as I sashayed past this charming little shop window, a group of young girls, probably about eight or nine, stopped and gasped. I could tell they were transfixed, eyes wide with wonder.
“Wow!” one exclaimed, her face glowing with delight. “She looks like a real princess!” 👸🏼
And in that moment, my heart melted. It’s these small moments of joy, these connections I make through my sparkly performances, that make my journey worth every glitter-covered step.
Rainham and the Love for Dance
This town is clearly a haven for all things creative. I saw street performers twirling and dancing with so much energy and passion, it almost made me want to throw on my own pointe shoes and join in! 🩰
But you know what they say, "A true queen knows her limits". While I do love a good ballet class – hello, Swan Lake vibes! – I'm all about perfecting my drag performance style, which is a whirlwind of energy, sass, and, of course, pink tutus! 💖
In the evening, I found myself drawn to a fantastic little theatre. It’s so wonderfully charming, and it gave me a feeling of being transported to another time. Inside, a talented local group was performing a play – and they were brilliant! So much heart, laughter, and sheer passion for their craft. After their curtain call, I went back stage to say hello and give them a heartfelt “Bravo!” – and I think I’m already scheming about a possible performance there, maybe a tutu-inspired monologue? 😉
Tutu Tales: Adventures in Pink
Now, darlings, I have a little confession… remember that pink tutu I was wearing when I stumbled upon those charming young ladies? It’s not just any tutu. It has a story, a history, and even a scientific touch. 🧪
See, when I was a little “Alex,” back in Derbyshire, I was, believe it or not, a budding scientist! It’s true, I studied biology and was fascinated by all the complexities of life, even the invisible stuff we can’t see with our eyes. And yes, in my day-to-day life, I work in a laboratory, testing fabric. Fabrics? That's my day job. By night I am my most flamboyant and I must confess the two jobs influence one another more than I like to admit. You see, while I was knee-deep in chemistry and microbiology, my heart was also deeply captivated by ballet.
My university had a vibrant ballet club, and one day they organised a fundraising event for charity. I’ll never forget that day… they asked for volunteers to try on ballet tutus! And there I was, the shy little scientist in my lab coat, suddenly standing before a mirror in a pink tutu, giggling with a mix of apprehension and pure delight. That was the moment my life changed! 💖
And ever since then, I’ve been on a whirlwind journey, transforming from a shy lab scientist into this flamboyant queen, all thanks to a love for pink, a passion for dancing, and yes, the irresistible magic of a good pink tutu! ✨
