Hello my darlings! 💖 It’s Pink Tutu Sparkles here, ready to tell you all about my whirlwind trip to Rotherham! This beautiful town is truly the epitome of everything I love - friendly people, historic charm, and oh, the places to twirl in a pink tutu! It's safe to say this is going to be one of my favourite posts!
Firstly, I HAVE to talk about the train journey! The Derbyshire countryside was bathed in glorious sunshine, and I spent the whole ride gazing at the rolling hills. There's something magical about watching the world drift past your window, especially when you're adorned in your finest pink tutu (mine was my "Bubblegum Dream" tutu with the fabulous frills - you saw it on Instagram, right?) and a big, bold, pink hat! 🎩💖
As soon as I arrived in Rotherham, the air was buzzing with excitement. My heart leaped! Rotherham Town Hall - an absolute architectural masterpiece - stood majestically before me, and I just knew I was in for a treat.
The people of Rotherham were a dream! Everyone greeted me with warm smiles and curious looks as I made my way to my performance venue, the delightful “Dancing Diva" nightclub! Now, I've seen my fair share of nightclubs in my time as a drag artist, but this one had a real magical vibe, with an elegant dance floor that felt like it was custom-designed for tutus! 😉
As I got ready in the dressing room, butterflies filled my stomach (it’s always the same!). You know that feeling - excitement mingled with a healthy dose of nervous energy. I took a moment to gaze in the mirror, admiring my ensemble (my 'Raspberry Rhapsody' outfit, if you're asking!) and gave myself a little pep talk. “Pink Tutu Sparkles, you've got this!"
My act that night was pure glitz and glamour, just the way I like it! Think show tunes, glittery jumpsuits, feathers, sparkles, and yes, you guessed it – even more tutus! I truly believe the key to a successful drag act is to not be afraid to push those boundaries, to get people talking, to bring a touch of pure joy to the world!
But there was so much more to this Rotherham trip than just the performance! After the show, I embarked on a shopping spree through the charming market streets! They've got some truly delightful vintage boutiques – it’s my happy place. Honestly, my pink tulle addiction was definitely tested, but I held strong. 😉
One of the highlights of my stay was a visit to the magnificent Rotherham Minster. This magnificent cathedral is a testament to the history of this town, and the sheer scale of it truly took my breath away. The stained-glass windows, the intricate carvings, the calm stillness - it’s truly a spiritual experience. I even took some inspiration for my next design.
Another big tick on the Rotherham bucket list was exploring Rotherham's famous Clifton Park. Imagine this – acres of gorgeous green spaces, flowerbeds bursting with colour, a tranquil lake - oh, and there's even a small farm. I got to pet the fluffy sheep! It's a must-visit for anyone in the area. It reminded me of my hometown in Derbyshire, so it truly felt like home. The air was full of the sound of laughter, children playing, and even a little gentle jazz music drifting from somewhere hidden in the park.
Naturally, my visit wouldn't be complete without indulging in a bit of Rotherham's culinary scene. You’ve got to try the traditional Yorkshire puddings! Honestly, nothing beats a freshly baked Yorkshire pudding - crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside!
Now, my darlings, as much as I'd love to share every detail of my amazing time in Rotherham, I’ll save something for next time. After all, what fun is it to reveal all the secrets at once?! 🤫
