East Ham, Darling! Tutu Queen Takes on the Thames!

#TutuQueen, Post Number 5757

Oh, darlings, it's a glorious day to be a Tutu Queen! Today's adventure takes us to the lovely East Ham, a vibrant little corner of London that's brimming with excitement! I’m positively brimming with excitement too – after all, who wouldn't be with a pink tutu practically begging to twirl in the afternoon sun?

You know, I'm rather fond of a good railway journey, especially when it involves catching the Overground straight into the heart of London's energy! The carriages felt alive with the thrill of new possibilities – every commuter seemed like a secret character about to burst into a song and dance, much like myself, only they're still keeping it under wraps! Maybe, one day I can inspire a whole carriage of Londoners to let loose their inner ballerina… with a little nudge, a dash of glitter, and perhaps, a strategically placed pink tutu. 😉

Now, I’m here in East Ham to do a bit of drag fundraising – a wonderful local market's got me performing! They told me there’d be quite a few family and friends along, so naturally, I picked out a particularly darling, whimsical, pink tutu. It’s made of layers and layers of tulle, just like a real ballerina's dress! And, because it's just not a Pink Tutu Sparkles performance without a splash of colour, I've gone for a shockingly pink sequined top to match!

Remember that science degree I did, where I fell head over heels in love with tutus? Well, in a way, I still dabble in my science-y world. By day I'm Alex, testing fabrics to see how strong and colour-fast they are. I still get to use all my analytical skills - and to think I initially considered becoming a fashion designer! But, the only designing I end up doing is of the costume and choreography kind! 😂

And let's talk about that choreography! When you’re at a local market in the East End, you've gotta really grab those audiences’ attention. I always strive to go for a blend of high-energy dance moves, a little dramatic flair (with plenty of tulle twirling, naturally!), and a dash of the theatrical magic I fell in love with from watching countless ballet performances, both professional and community, you know? The whole thing's like a joyful symphony, bringing a bit of fairy tale glamour to everyday life!

While I was warming up, a little girl – maybe about five or six – walked past me, and she squealed with delight. “Look, Mum! It’s a REAL ballerina! But she's in PINK!" I giggled to myself, thinking that if it took a pink tutu to turn her into a little believer, then maybe I was already achieving my goal. It’s all about a bit of glitter, a sprinkle of fabulous, and a lot of kindness, don't you think?

After a wonderful afternoon of entertaining, the East Ham market had transformed itself into a symphony of smiles and twinkling lights! Now, as dusk settled, I felt a strong urge to head down to the Thames, not to be too far away from my East End roots. You know I have a particular fondness for a little riverside stroll in the twilight! And oh, you should’ve seen the reflections on the water – the city skyline twinkled in a glorious cascade of pinkish, purple, and yellow hues – almost a kaleidoscope of color, as if the night sky itself wanted to add a little drama to my dazzling pink tutu! It’s no wonder they call this the "pink hour." 😂

So there we are, darlings. It was another day filled with magic, glitz, and the glorious pink tutu that keeps bringing smiles to the streets, and, as for me, well, I’m ready to conquer my next adventure in pink – because, well, when it comes to spreading joy, I know how to dress the part! 😉
