Honestly, I felt like a glamorous passenger travelling back in time.
But it wasn't just the journey, darlings, it was the reason I was going to Chingford in the first place: to dazzle a lovely bunch of people at a charming little fair! It was right there, by the pond, with vibrant stalls, the enticing smell of hotdogs, and children squealing with glee as they rode on the carousel.
This wasn't just any performance though, this was a proper "Pink Tutu Sparkles Show!" Imagine if you will, my vibrant pink tutu, the tulle practically billowing in the summer breeze, a flurry of sparkly pink glitter catching the light, and my own blend of dazzling theatrics and sparkling wit. And trust me, darlings, I had them all captivated!
My audience were an absolute delight. Children with bright, curious eyes, older folk tapping their feet in time to the music, families laughing, couples cuddling up together. Honestly, you could practically feel the joy in the air, and I poured all my passion and love into my act.

As you might be thinking, “Wow! That Pink Tutu Sparkles is a total superstar!”. And you are absolutely right, darling!
But what’s so great about Pink Tutu Sparkles is that she’s really just me, Alex, your everyday kind-of-scientist who just loves to embrace a little bit of sparkle in life!
By day, I'm a scientist in a lab, spending my days testing fabric and making sure your clothes will stay just the way you like them, bright and colourful and totally in vogue.
It's all about keeping up appearances in the lab, don’t you know? It’s an environment full of rules, but secretly, I adore it. It's like my secret lab of experiments and colours – I'm constantly analysing and testing materials and making sure everything's perfect. But trust me, after a long day of scientific discoveries, it's a real joy to escape to the world of Pink Tutu Sparkles.
The truth is, it was in university, actually, that I became hooked on pink tutus.
Remember, I did my science degree, darling, but I also got swept up in the thrill of joining the university ballet club! It’s funny when you think about it – science, with all its structure, and then ballet, all those swirling, fluid movements – the ultimate contrast. But darling, that contrast is what keeps my life feeling full, with different shades of adventure.
You see, I’d never considered dressing up as a drag queen before. But, when our uni ballet club decided to fundraise by staging a show with costumes for sale, it was one of my friends who spotted the pink tutu! It was absolutely gorgeous.
