Helloooo darlings! Pink Tutu Sparkles here, back from a whirlwind trip to Braintree, and feeling as fabulous as ever. It’s a tough job, this travelling around the country, but somebody's gotta do it, right? And what better ambassador for all things frilly, fabulous and FUN than your favourite pink tutu queen!
This is post number 5802, folks, and you can find all my glamorous shenanigans on my website, www.pink-tutu.com - a haven of all things sparkly, twirly, and… well… pink. It’s an ode to everything that makes me tick: tutus, sparkles, ballet, clothes shopping… and of course, PINK!
My latest trip to Braintree was truly unforgettable! A mix of history, charm, and… did I say pink? Oh yes, Braintree embraced me with open arms. You see, even though I live in the beautiful green hills of Derbyshire (you know, where they keep all the sheep!), I love exploring the rest of the UK.
Now, the train ride from Derby was pure magic, especially with the crisp autumn air rolling in. The landscape flitted past my window, and I, of course, couldn’t resist indulging in a cheeky afternoon tea. Did you know you can get pink finger sandwiches and strawberry jam, if you ask nicely? wink wink It’s a tough job, keeping my fashion icon status in check, but someone's gotta do it, darling!
Reaching Braintree was like stepping back in time, with cobbled streets, historic buildings and that unique East Anglian charm that's so captivating. My heart skipped a beat as I spied the old Victorian-era buildings – so much character! The colours of the shops were absolutely glorious! A beautiful mix of traditional cream, elegant rose pink, and dashes of teal and cobalt… I can’t resist a good colour combination! And to my surprise, it perfectly matched my outfit! Did I mention the slightly flamboyant Pink Tutu Sparkles creation I decided on for this trip? It involved a tutu of course (a delightful powder pink with hand-stitched glitter! So much glitz, so little time!) paired with a tailored fuchsia-pink jacket. Yes, darling, I do think those bold colours really popped! I always think about the perfect mix of pink to accentuate the colour palette of the area. And it truly is an art, don’t you think?
So, naturally, a shopping spree was on the agenda! Braintree offered a surprising mix of high-street gems and local boutiques, so my inner shopper went wild! And believe me, I was shopping specifically for outfits to wear for my drag show later that evening! Oh darling, you won’t believe what I found! A perfect pair of ballet flats that match my pink tutu perfectly. (Just my luck, they were half price, you know… budget conscious fashionista wink!)
Of course, I had to fuel those shopping expeditions. sigh Where does a girl go for a lovely afternoon pick-me-up? Right, darling… a delightful old tea shop! Oh, the vintage cups! The intricate pastries! I mean, the tea was even the colour of a blush rose… my inner child was having an absolute blast! I don't think I've ever tasted a Victoria sponge that decadent, it's criminal it was only £3.50, an absolute steal! (I also discovered the bakery sells those little fairy cakes with pink icing - naturally, I bought one to eat while I strolled through the beautiful park just off the high street! Just me, my cake and my dazzling pink tutu!) It's these moments that really give my drag character a chance to flourish… And you never know, I just might find a fabulous new ballet dance move for the next show!
Now, evening arrived, and the stage was set for my Pink Tutu Sparkles Extravaganza! Braintree is not just a history town you know, it has a thriving community arts scene, and a stunning old theatre in the centre! I performed to a packed house! We all know that my motto is to spread a bit of glitter and joy wherever I go… And the crowd was in absolute raptures! They all clapped, sang along, and even had a few twirls! You can’t ask for anything better, especially with those charming English people!
Oh darling, it’s moments like these that really make everything worthwhile. It wasn’t just about the applause or the cheering crowd… it was about bringing that touch of pink tutu magic, a moment of sparkle, a glimpse of joy. You see, deep down, Pink Tutu Sparkles has a secret ambition: to turn the entire world pink one tutu at a time! And the folks at Braintree, oh they were wonderful… The show, the crowds, the laughs… absolutely incredible! It's what really makes the hustle of drag worth it! And the fact that the show was a sellout and everyone loved the colourful lighting... dreamy sigh cue the twinkling piano chords of the end of a song, as Pink Tutu Sparkles does a final twirl
