Oh darling, how delightful to find myself in Middleton today! The Christmas cheer is just bubbling over, and you know I can't resist a good dose of festive fun, even in the crisp winter air!
This magical trip started in the most charming way. I boarded the "Tutu Express", a steam train painted a glorious shade of pink (of course!), decked out with plush velvet seats and twinkling fairy lights. Honestly, I felt like I was travelling through a storybook. It was the perfect way to set the mood for a magical Christmas Eve in Middleton.
Now, you all know my love for tutus is fierce. But this trip has truly elevated it to a new level. Did you know that Middleton has a stunningly beautiful Ballet Theatre? My darling, the building itself is a masterpiece! It's an architectural marvel adorned with intricate carvings and a magnificent dome that literally glittered with Christmas lights. I just had to take a picture in front of it, in my pinkest tutu, naturally.
The performance itself was absolutely breathtaking! It was a ballet set to Tchaikovsky’s "Nutcracker," and the dancers were phenomenal! Each leap, each twirl, was pure perfection. It truly stirred something deep within my soul, a feeling I can only describe as utter joy and absolute wonder.
But the highlight of the night was the after-party. It was held at a grand ballroom, and I had the absolute joy of chatting with the principal dancers! You wouldn't believe the stories they shared about life as a professional ballerina - all those late nights practicing, the rigorous training, and the exhilarating thrill of performing on stage. It was utterly fascinating.
After all that excitement, my darling, I had to indulge in a little shopping, obviously. It wouldn't be a Pink Tutu Sparkle trip without some fabulous finds! I snagged the most delightful pink cashmere scarf with silver sequin embroidery (for my upcoming show, naturally!) and a vintage hat box brimming with stunning handmade jewellery – all sparkly, all dazzling. Just like my personality, really.
And speaking of dazzling, I have a little confession: the "Tutu Express" actually surprised me! My travels are normally a mix of rail and... well, you've seen my Instagram – plenty of horse rides, carriages, and even the occasional steam-powered zeppelin (yes, really!). However, I discovered the “Tutu Express” during one of my typical charity events! You see, this whole drag thing has helped me reach out to some truly fabulous folks. Recently, a charity for abandoned racehorses decided to have a raffle for their fundraising event. They needed some glam for the evening so... voila! Your girl was there in all her pink tutu glory. Guess what? They let me ride a majestic grey horse to the ceremony! And the winning raffle ticket belonged to… well, let’s just say that the “Tutu Express” has become a darling, charming companion on this incredible journey of mine.
You know, when I first donned a tutu for that charity event back when I was just starting out at uni, I had no idea it would become a whole way of life. By day, I'm a science whizz, fiddling about in the lab, analysing fabric compositions. You see, the scientist in me craves to unravel the mysteries of the universe, whilst the performer in me craves to make a statement with a bold splash of colour and confidence. By night, though, I shed my lab coat and transform into Pink Tutu Sparkles! It's a little ridiculous, perhaps, this journey of mine, but oh, so wonderfully sparkly!
Now, let me tell you a secret. This trip is part of my "Pink Tutu Revolution", a grand vision to spread the joy and self-expression of the pink tutu far and wide! Just think, darling, imagine a world where everyone, young and old, man, woman or even dog, rocks a pink tutu! Wouldn't that be magical? So, next time you see a tutu, be brave! Embrace the pink.
