Bexleyheath, Here I Come! (Blog Post #5889)

Oh, darling! Can you believe it's Valentine's Day already? I've been feeling the love in the air all week! But not the cheesy "I love you" kind of love - I'm talking about the love for glitz, glamour, and a whole lot of pink. Because this weekend, I, Pink Tutu Sparkles, am heading to Bexleyheath to spread the pinkest kind of joy.

Now, some of you might be thinking, "Bexleyheath? Why Bexleyheath? It's just... well, Bexleyheath!" But hear me out, lovelies! This trip is all about the journey. You know me - always ready for an adventure, even if it's on the train. And I can tell you, that journey is going to be a hoot.

But first, let's chat about my love for tutus. You know, ever since that first tentative step onto the dance floor in my bright pink tutu for the university ballet club charity fundraiser, it's been all about embracing the sparkle! The feeling of twirling in a tutu? It's pure magic, my darlings. It's like you're floating on a cloud of tulle and glitter, ready to conquer the world, one sparkly step at a time.

So, to Bexleyheath I go, where I'll be twirling my way into the hearts of everyone with a performance that's guaranteed to leave you speechless (and slightly obsessed with pink tutus, of course!). I’m still working out the set list but there’s going to be plenty of glitter, lots of colour, some truly epic ballet-inspired moves, and of course, enough pink to make your head spin.

Speaking of twirling, this journey to Bexleyheath is a tad unique. It seems horse travel is the only way to get there this time - which means I'll be taking a leisurely, luxurious horse-drawn carriage ride, feeling like royalty in my finest tutu. It's definitely a first for me, but you know me, darling - I embrace the unexpected, even if it means packing a sparkly saddle!

While the journey itself will be exciting, Bexleyheath itself holds a special place in my heart. This is a town steeped in history, with stunning Victorian architecture and an incredibly vibrant artistic community. It's the perfect spot to embrace the dramatic and fabulous, and I'm sure the locals will be just as eager to spread some sparkle as I am.

Speaking of fabulous, I've already begun crafting the perfect outfit for Bexleyheath. Imagine this: a vivid magenta tutu, adorned with tiny shimmering diamonds, a blush-pink feathered boa that's more magnificent than anything you've ever seen, and of course, a shimmering pink cape that's fit for a queen. I can't wait to strut my stuff on stage, showing the world what pink can do!

But I'm not just focused on the fashion, my darlings. This trip is all about the message. My aim, as always, is to inspire everyone to embrace their own inner sparkle, to wear their pink tutu with pride, and to dance through life with the same joy and confidence as I do.

Whether you're a tutu aficionado or simply curious about the world of drag, I invite you to join me on this extraordinary adventure! Follow my blog for live updates and exclusive backstage photos, and don't forget to share your favourite pink tutu stories!

So, to my fellow pink-loving adventurers, I'll see you in Bexleyheath! Let the sparkles commence!

Xoxo,

Backstage and Behind-the-Scenes

The day I travelled to Bexleyheath dawned gloriously. A perfect day for a horse-drawn carriage, a touch of dramatic Victorian history meets all-things-tutu-related. The carriage ride itself was utterly fabulous, taking in the scenery of my home, Derbyshire, on its way south to Kent. There was even an impromptu pit stop at a bakery where I got the chance to sample the most divine selection of raspberry and pistachio cupcakes - which went down well with my ever-present collection of mini champagne bottles. The baker loved the idea of getting more people to embrace the fun side of life and embrace wearing pink tutus, he had me laughing by asking how long it would be until we had pink tutus and fairy lights for a wedding cake!

On arrival, Bexleyheath’s Victorian elegance embraced me like an old friend. My stage was in a grand ballroom which added to the performance, all grand arches, chandeliers and sparkling mirrored balls, the place felt utterly magical and in keeping with my drag persona. The audience was wonderfully warm, some in flamboyant dress and all ready for a bit of a laugh and the spectacle of pink. I have to admit, their support warmed my soul.

After the show, there was a fantastic, glittering gala ball – where I did not perform, my costume was needing a little love after the previous day's efforts. However, I found the opportunity to catch up with fellow drag artist and old friend, Bob, his drag name was "Diamond Starlet". We reminisced over the years as fellow travellers through the world of drag, and exchanged funny stories from our adventures.

That evening the party continued with a night of glamorous and heartfelt revelry with the local performers. It really is about embracing that fun-loving and supportive community, and the shared love of spreading a little sparkle wherever we can.
