Oh my darlings, you won’t believe the absolute joy I experienced in Rutherglen yesterday! Now, I know, I know, “Rutherglen, honey? Isn’t that, like, a million miles from Derbyshire? gasps” And you’d be absolutely right to say it! But honestly, sometimes, a girl just needs to break free from the routine, pack her pinkest, most fabulous tutu, and hop on a train to somewhere unexpected, right?
My travels this time started with a train journey – let’s face it, nothing beats a first-class ticket for a stylish start to any adventure. With a little sparkly champagne (non-alcoholic, obviously – Pink Tutu Sparkles has got to look after her vocal chords, darling) and a good playlist, I was in heaven, soaking up the sights.
Arriving in Rutherglen, I was instantly charmed by its charming old-world vibe – quaint little shops, bustling market squares, the most incredible little bakery that smelled like pure, fluffy bliss!
The Power of a Pink Tutu
And then, the show itself! Oh, the excitement! You wouldn't believe the incredible audience, absolutely thrilled to have Pink Tutu Sparkles grace their town with her presence! A bit of Enchanted Waltz, a little La Fille Mal Gardée, and my new number, a totally fab rendition of "I Feel Pretty" with some unexpected choreography involving glitter cannons (more on that in a moment!), had the whole crowd on their feet!
My signature moves? You know it! High kicks, twirls that make your head spin, and of course, the most dazzling pink tutu this side of the Thames. But I must admit, this particular tutu took it to a whole new level of fabulous. My trusty seamstress, Priscilla (don’t tell her, she’s a tad dramatic) added swarovski crystal embellishments for a real ‘ooh la la’ effect. I have to say, they went down a storm with the Rutherglen crowd!
Glittering Secrets & Fabric Fun
Now, a little backstage secret for you lovelies: you've heard of glitter cannons, right? Well, this time, I wanted to incorporate something extra special for the finale. A burst of pink feathers – because, come on, who can resist a good pink feather explosion, darling? And there's a whole backstory to this, a little snippet of my day-job as a scientist! You see, this pink feather explosion involved a fabric of my own creation - I actually got to use my science knowledge to make a new type of fabric that would explode into a beautiful pink cloud, so, all that studying wasn't a waste after all!
But that's the beauty of Pink Tutu Sparkles, right? It's not just about sequins and glitter. It's about passion, pushing boundaries, and having a blast while doing it! Even a scientist like me needs her creative outlet – my passion for science goes hand in hand with my love of tutus, glitter, and oh-so-much pink.
A Rutherglen Feast!
Of course, what’s a trip to Rutherglen without a proper culinary experience? After the show, I had the most divine little afternoon tea at the charming Tea House nestled on a charming cobbled side street. Think delicate sandwiches with cucumber and cream cheese, the most divine little Victoria sponge, and lashings of piping-hot Earl Grey – truly, the perfect post-performance treat.
I left Rutherglen feeling utterly enchanted. I can’t wait to come back soon! And who knows, maybe next time, I'll find a perfect pink tutu for some of the lovely locals, too!
What’s Next for TutuQueen?
My journey is just beginning, darling! Stay tuned, for I’m heading to… (drumroll) … Dundee, Scotland next week! It’s said to be the perfect destination for a princess like me! Oh, how I can’t wait to see the dramatic castle, explore its famous cafes, and perhaps find some pink tutus in the local markets!
