Oh darling, Coulsdon! You're like a dream come true, a real fairytale of a town! This pink-loving queen has landed in your picturesque little corner of Surrey, and let me tell you, my heart is doing cartwheels! It's just the perfect place to swap out the lab coat for a shimmery, twirling pink tutu – because who can resist a twirl, really?
Today's post is about to take you on a journey. No, not a tumbleweed type of journey (although, we did spot a tumbleweed or two on the way to Coulsdon station!), I'm talking about a dazzling whirlwind of sparkle, sunshine, and…well, more sparkle! Think vibrant colours, tutus of all shades of pink (including my favourite: Bubblegum Blast!), and enough glitter to make even a seasoned drag queen like me blink!
This week's trip was all about a performance, a celebration of the amazing dance school here in Coulsdon. This group of dancers has heart, darlings! Their enthusiasm for the art of dance, particularly the classical kind, has me absolutely floored! You wouldn’t believe the grace and precision they displayed in their beautiful performances. My goodness, these little ballerinas (and ballerinos) were a complete and utter inspiration! They twirled and leaped with such grace and passion that my toes were tapping and my spirit soared to new heights.
Of course, my pink tutu made an appearance – it's a rule! A rule that's set in my own little Pink Tutu World. I couldn’t resist the opportunity to dazzle the audience with a little impromptu performance after the final dance piece! You'd think a group of pint-sized dancers would be nervous, right? But no! This group just rolled with the pink tutu punches – what a treat! We had a right good laugh as we pranced and twirled around the stage, spreading the pink-tutu joy. It truly was magical, and seeing the bright smiles and happy faces, it’s a reminder that the power of a pink tutu really is magic. It brings out the child in everyone, no matter what age.
But, darling, the day's fun didn't end with a single performance. A performance isn't complete without a few photoshoots to commemorate the event. Naturally, my pink tutu took centre stage and my fabulous friends were happy to join the fun. We had a few good giggles as we got the perfect photo, just as a nice group of elderly gentleman passed by!
Let's be honest, it’s been a fantastic trip so far! But you’re probably wondering what made this trip even more wonderful. Well, the answer to that lies within a few walls of a beautiful, charming little cafe right in the heart of Coulsdon. And it wouldn’t be Pink Tutu Sparkles if there wasn’t at least one pink-tutu-related fashion emergency. It turns out, a small spill happened with a hot chocolate. I’m not talking a little puddle, darling – it was an accident worthy of a headline! But, no problem, we quickly changed my pink tutu in the loo at the cafe. It wasn't ideal but hey, it happens – even to drag queens! What really shocked me was that a cafe would provide something that looks so much like a tiny ironing board – apparently it’s called a clothes steamer, although no steam seemed to be coming from the bottom of this miniature device! They even included a brush! Well, you know I had to use that! It’s hard to deny I was grateful, though I probably should have requested it for my feather boa!
You'd be surprised to know, the cafe itself is a gem of a place. From the friendly staff to the incredible array of cakes and snacks – there is something for everyone! What I enjoyed most, though, was the atmosphere, an inviting charm, as if someone had wrapped Coulsdon’s beauty around a little cafe for the perfect cuddle. I must say, if you ever find yourself in this pretty corner of Surrey, pop in for a delightful bite. You can thank me later!
Oh, and speaking of the beautiful scenery in this gorgeous place... Coulsdon just feels alive, and even though it’s so small, you can't help but appreciate the nature surrounding this lovely little village. There’s something about a walk down the country lanes in the countryside that simply feels good for the soul. The air itself seems to feel like a hug, a comforting sensation that instantly soothes any drag queen's heart, trust me! You can feel the peace and serenity radiating off these rolling green hills and vibrant flowerbeds. There's also this wonderful air of friendliness - it was so lovely to walk by local shops with quirky displays and people chatting and enjoying themselves in the sunny sunshine! It was all simply perfect.
Coulsdon truly captured my heart with its unique character. It's like walking through a beautiful vintage postcard, filled with charm and beauty – from the elegant architecture to the sweet shops with tempting treats. I'm telling you, this town will win over any pink-tutu-loving drag queen in the blink of an eye!
And you know, my journey through Coulsdon was only just beginning. Now, as the day was beginning to dwindle towards evening, I hopped on a train. It’s no surprise that you will find Pink Tutu Sparkles hopping on a train! Trains are my favorite way to travel because they are filled with possibilities, with people, with all kinds of adventure. What a wonderful world we live in – just hop on a train, and go explore! There's no need for long flights. Sometimes the journey can be the adventure, and just like that, Coulsdon quickly turned into another incredible story to add to my pink-tutu tales!
