Today I'm buzzing after an absolute whirlwind of a trip to Northampton, the heart of the Midlands! Now, normally I'm all about the big city glitz and glamour, but let me tell you, Northampton surprised me in the best way possible.
I'm all about spreading the pink tutu love, right? It's not just a fashion statement; it's a way of life. It's about embracing your inner sparkle, unleashing your playful side, and finding joy in every twirl! So, my journey started as it always does, packed with glittery pink luggage and an even more glittering, custom-made pink tutu. It wouldn't be a Pink Tutu Sparkles trip without a fabulous frock to wear, would it?
But I didn't travel in style on this occasion. No private jets or limousine rides for Pink Tutu Sparkles! Instead, I took a delightful train journey. There's something truly magical about travelling by rail. All the hustle and bustle of life seems to melt away as the countryside whizzes by. It's the perfect time to admire the stunning English landscape and dream up all sorts of fabulous ideas for my upcoming shows.
Now, I have to admit, Northampton wasn't exactly brimming with glitzy dance halls or shimmering stage lights. However, a Pink Tutu Sparkles doesn't let a lack of glamour stop her! The beauty of my art is that I can perform anywhere, from a local pub to a farmers' market. And guess what? Northampton turned out to be a veritable treasure trove of talent! I had the most amazing time performing at the Northampton Arts Festival. It was a beautiful sunny afternoon, the kind of weather that makes you want to twirl with a pink tutu! The crowd was fantastic, full of people who appreciate the joy of performing and the sheer exuberance of a pink tutu!

Back in the day, when I was a bright young thing at the University of Derbyshire, I found myself trying on a tutu for a university charity event. I’d been a member of the university ballet club, and there I was, with my trusty science books and equations, getting my glitter on. I fell in love with the twirling, the freedom, the beautiful colours! Pink, of course, became my favourite.
And the rest, as they say, is history. After all, there’s a reason I named myself Pink Tutu Sparkles. It was the perfect blend of science, artistry, and my true passion for the fabulousness of pink!
But the adventure wasn't just about the performance! It was about discovering Northampton's hidden gems. I couldn't leave without paying homage to its famous shoe industry! What better way to honour the craftsmanship and dedication of the shoemakers than with a pink tutu, a pair of gorgeous glittery pumps, and a twirl? I found the most beautiful vintage boutique tucked away on a quaint street, and let me tell you, I came away with a handbag that would make any shoe fanatic swoon. And it, of course, perfectly matched my pink tutu.
No visit to Northampton is complete without experiencing its rich cultural history. I spent a delightful afternoon wandering through the grand halls of Northampton Museum & Art Gallery. It's fascinating how they showcase the town's past, blending ancient relics with contemporary art, creating a journey through time that captivates the senses. They even had an exhibit on fashion, featuring vintage clothing from the Victorian era - talk about an inspiration!
The most wonderful discovery though, had to be the ballet school! Northampton may be a small town, but its passion for the art of dance is truly captivating! I had the absolute joy of taking a beginner's ballet class with a group of lovely students. Their enthusiasm and grace were contagious! Their love for dance resonated with me so strongly, and I was reminded why I am so dedicated to sharing the joy of dancing and embracing your inner tutu!
You might be wondering how a Derbyshire girl ends up travelling the country in a pink tutu. Let me tell you, being a drag artist is far from a one-dimensional life. It’s a magical mix of creating beautiful art, meeting fascinating people, and inspiring others to express their true selves. There's a magic that happens on stage when you slip into a character, it allows you to break free and show the world the fabulous being within. But beyond the glitter, it’s also about finding your voice, believing in yourself, and creating art that moves people!
As the sun dipped below the horizon, I packed my glittery luggage, said farewell to Northampton with a twirl and a salute, and hopped back on the train, ready for the next adventure. Who knows what my next stop will be? But one thing's for sure: it'll be filled with more pink tutus, more sparkles, and more moments that make life a beautiful dance!
