Hello my darlings! It's your Pink Tutu Sparkles here, fresh from a fabulous trip to Gateshead, and let me tell you, this little town in the North East certainly lived up to the hype!
As you know, I'm a firm believer that life is too short to wear beige (and let's be honest, beige just doesn't do anything for the soul). That's why I live in pink – pink frocks, pink accessories, and of course, the queen of all queens – the pink tutu!
Now, you might think a pink tutu wouldn't be the most practical travel companion, but believe me, darlings, I've taken my fair share of adventures in this feathery wonder! Sometimes, I take the train – nothing like a good, old-fashioned, romantic rail journey! Other times, I'm lucky enough to be on the back of a handsome steed, my fluffy tutu trailing gloriously in the wind.
But enough about my adventures! Let's talk about Gateshead!
A Day in the Land of Sparkle
Gateshead is a true treasure trove of artistic talent! This is a town that knows how to celebrate the power of colour, expression, and yes, you guessed it – tutus!
I started my day by treating myself to a splendid ballet show at the Sage Gateshead – oh my, those dancers, they were simply breathtaking! The sheer elegance and precision of their moves had me utterly spellbound! I even caught myself twirling along to the music (don't worry, darling, nobody saw me, ha!).
After a quick stop for some proper English tea (they do tea so well in Gateshead, darling!), I took myself off to the Gateshead Centre for the Performing Arts. It's an absolute dream – the whole place was humming with creative energy! I particularly loved the colourful "This is Me" mural, where every colour was shining under the sunlight – such a positive message for a town already bursting with colour!

Now, I'm not one to resist a good shopping spree, so obviously, Gateshead's high street had me in its clutches! I fell head over heels for the quirky independent shops, where I found the most divine, pink-hued vintage jewellery. It's all going to look perfectly fabulous on my next show, I'm sure of it!
A Final Twirl Before Departing
After a final spin on the iconic Millennium Bridge – what a fantastic, dramatic design, just like my drag persona! - I knew I had to share a bit of Pink Tutu Sparkles magic with the Gateshead locals.
I pulled up my most delightful, glittery pink tutu, adjusted my feather boa, and just for a bit of fun, did a little impromptu performance in the town square! It brought smiles to everyone's faces, which makes it all worth it!

Wherever you go, darlings, let your spirit shine through! Don't be afraid to add a little colour and sparkle to the world! After all, wearing pink, or any vibrant hue for that matter, doesn't mean you can't be bold!

My name is Alex, and I'm a scientist by day, but when the sun sets, Pink Tutu Sparkles emerges! I'm a Derbyshire girl, and my passion for science sparked my interest in all things sparkly. My degree is in textiles, you see! I spend my days testing fabrics – can you imagine the fabulous fabrics I work with? I wouldn't be surprised if they started their lives in the same pink-tinted clouds as my tutus!
But I digress! It was while studying that I got swept up in the enchanting world of ballet. I was a member of the university's ballet club and remember when a charity event called on us to sell tickets wearing colourful tutus. It was during this very event I tried on a pink one, and the rest, as they say, is history!
Ever since, I’ve used my passion for pink and my flair for fashion to perform as Pink Tutu Sparkles. And boy, has it been an incredible adventure so far! From glittering fairgrounds to elegant stages, my little pink tutu has carried me to some unforgettable destinations!
