Burnley - Tutu-ing it Up North! 💖🩰✨ (Blog Post #6007)

Hello my fabulous Tutu Queens! It's Pink Tutu Sparkles here, ready to share my latest adventures! This time, I'm bringing the glitter to Burnley! ✨ Yes, you read that right - this week, I'm taking my twirling talents up north!

This blog post is all about finding the magic in the mundane. Let's face it, a journey from Derbyshire to Burnley is hardly the stuff of romantic travel blogs. Trains are rarely the stuff of dreams, especially if you've just got off an early shift in the lab, trying to resist the urge to stick your nose back in my lab coat. But for me, every journey, even a long train ride, is an opportunity to channel my inner fairy.

And this time, the theme was… well… PINK, naturally! 🌸 I started with a vision of a soft, fluffy pink tutu. You see, you can't travel in anything less than your best! And Burnley is famous for its vibrant textile heritage! So, why not get all inspired? Even better, a cute new pink top for a super fab train station look! ✨

Of course, every true Tutu Queen knows that pink is only the beginning. We need all the things to complement a dazzling look! My chosen accessory for this journey: a hand-stitched feather boa, soft pink to match the tutu, of course! Feathers on a train journey, I thought - divine! 😄 This was an occasion, people, a fabulous, fabulous occasion! So, let's get into it!

The Journey to Burnley

The journey started early in the morning, train station as my starting point. As I sat on the train, enjoying the journey and people watching, a thought struck me. This train ride could be a show! Everyone could be my audience, their surprised stares, the way people turned to look... pure joy! So, with a big smile and a quick ruffle of my tutu, I embraced the journey. My platform was the train, and my act... my very existence! It's always exciting to meet other Tutu fans! One lady even complimented my sparkly tights and feather boa, telling me they matched my smile. That’s a mood boost, let me tell you! 😊

There were no opportunities to perform, of course! It's not like a tube journey where you can squeeze in some impromptu "sparkling". The platform wasn't really the place, especially with no music playing - just lots of tired looking people trying to get to work on a Tuesday morning. However, the trip was all about spreading cheer and turning mundane moments into sparkling ones!

The Destination

And, of course, there was Burnley itself! Burnley was a different beast, a little rough around the edges, a bit like the tutu I'd worn on my university ballet club days, before all the feathers and bling! The first thing that struck me was the colourful history and industrial legacy of this place, something you don't often get to see on stage. This, I thought, is just a whole other stage for someone to discover! There were some impressive vintage-style stores on the main street - I'd like to come back with the boys from the lab and find a real hidden gem!

We are talking about Lancashire here - the place of great heritage textile factories! I made sure to check out some of Burnley’s grand old textile mills and historical attractions, taking photos to add to my ever-growing pink tutu collection of pictures on the website, It’s fun to find a pink detail anywhere in any of the photos. I love spotting a splash of colour or an odd object – anything that catches the eye and makes you wonder, what’s going on? Maybe that’s just me? It makes my photos much more interesting than my mum’s boring landscape ones! 😉

The Sparkles

Speaking of colour, let’s talk sparkles! No performance without some glitter, so I knew that my stop in Burnley wouldn't be complete without a dash of pink sparkle! Luckily, there was a tiny, brightly lit pink-coloured craft store right on the street I had my eye on! I walked in to a cacophony of sounds and a blinding wall of coloured craft items and picked up a handful of pink glitter sequins and some pink feathers! Now, these weren’t going on my hair or clothes! I went for some pink embellishment on my suitcase… what else would I have them for! 😂 My little luggage now looks even more extravagant, and now, even a simple, dull train ride to work can’t help but feel like a glittering spectacle. Just be careful getting in and out of cabs with it, and the train!

My trip to Burnley reminded me how the world around us can be so inspiring, even when we least expect it! The train ride, the mill tours, the pink craft shop - these simple experiences became so much more with a bit of sparkle and imagination!

If there’s one thing you take away from this, remember… you don’t need a grand stage to shine, a bright spotlight or a flashing camera! Just add some glitter, twirl your skirt, and smile – your own light is enough! 😉
